Hey Guys! I am a 57 yr old man that still does costuming. It wan't called Cosplay way back then. I made my 1st Spiderman suit back in 1977 after seeing the Nicholas Hammond's Spiderman pilot that CBS had on. Back then I was 15 and got my tights and leotards from a Salvation Army thrift store. I wish that I still had some photos of the 2 suits that I made but they were the Polaroid instant photos which were lost over the years of moving, divorce and other bullshit that interfered with the important job of costuming. Keep going with your costumes. You have so many more resources that I did back then. Do your best like I see you can. and make us "Old timers proud!"

I tried to make a spider-man costume two years ago for Halloween. It didn't go so well, I tried to buy to spandex suits at first and make my own suit, but then I thought that just using old clothes would be a lot easier. Then I went through dozens of old shirts with some of them actually going pretty well until I messed them up again. I tried to make my own Dead Space costume as well but that didn't work out either. Long story short: I used over half a million old shirts, ruined them all and got my entire family to hate me for wasting their precious time and money.
I've puffy painted many suits in the past but those were just some china suits I bought and traced over with tulip paints. Can we appreciate what a sheer badass Xavier is for being able to just pluck from any art style he wants and turn it into reality? I need to try and take this approach on my next suit 🔥
11:58 Me: yeah, i guess that makes sense Nerdy me (internally): Well, actually, the way that Spider-Man sticks to surfaces in the comics is a lot different than what the Raimi movies make you think. His stick-em powers don’t come from him growing really tiny hairs or anything like that which then cling to almost any surface, though it would make more sense for him to have gained his sticky abilities that way (you know; cause spider bite). For some reason, when he was bitten by the radioactive spider, he gained some kind of subconscious ability to alter his body’s electron attractiveness, meaning he can make any part of his body sticky based on just mental power alone, like when he made his face sticky so that some villain couldn’t take his mask off or something I think. I don’t get it, but it’s a comic book. Nothing ever makes sense in comic books. God, I’m a nerd. I need to get a life. To quote a spectacularly bombastic UA-camr: “Virginity Secured.”
@SpiderFlash 1273 Huh, did not know that. Kinda weird in comparison to the movie but hey, a guy getting spider powers from a spider bite isn’t exactly normal so… Hooray for radiation, and giving your girlfriend cancer!

I made a Human Spider cosplay that turned out pretty well (after the 2nd try..) to wear to some movie premiers and everyone loved it. Thanks for all the great content you put out that isn't just spidey stuff.
Hey Xavier! I’m not that knowledgeable about fabric painting but in my experience, if you’re painting on a dark colour like blue, it’s best to do a couple layers of white, then add the red so it’s a brighter red that’ll match the costume better. Idk, I don’t have the time, money, or effort to try it on spandex but no harm in trying on your next cosplay

I know I’m 5 years too late…but personally, I’d still segment the gloves, but have the pattern of the arms go all the way instead of cutting it off where the gloves meet.
Hi, Just dropping by to see what was new here. I don't remember if I told you guys about our Halloween outing in 1978. I was in my Spidey suit and my best friend Chris had made a "cardboard" Iron Man suit. We were walking down a dark country heading back to his house when a pickup truck went flying by us throwing eggs. I jumped behind my friend and let his armor take the brunt of the egging as Iron Man should. And in no friggin way did I ever address him as Mr Stark in an ass kissy tone of voice. It was more like "Hey Chris! You and your armored ass take the fucking point!". Thumbs up all around to you guys and your cool costuming!
I know i'm the only one but it would take around 31-34 hours and 7 minutes for you to watch every harry potter and friday the 13th movies obviously as well as how long it would be to puff paint . Which is unbelieveable tbh.
The problem is, if they used suits like this, it wouldn’t look good. (Not seeing these don’t look good, it’s just def not something you would want to see for 2 Hours. Also, considering how much Peter takes, being electrocuted, thrown through broken glass and windows, and whacked around like a ragdoll, these types of suits would tear very easily.)
Are you planning on doing any of the movie suits? Like, the supposedly homemade Rami suit or the Amazing Spider-Man 1 suit, and are relatively different from the regular suits from the comics and would be interesting to see if they can actually be made by someone other than a million dollar corporation

I think this video taught all of us a lot. The most important thing to take away from this isn't just the cosplay. But, that Xavier has some Amazing Friends.
As someone who has puff painted a suit and added soles, yes it's a paint but it's worth it. If you want an inner shoe for your suit instead of just having the sole on the suit buy yourself some fit kicks in the size you need and then you can add the soles and it'll give extra comfort and more room for your foot
Make an Arachknight suit. A mix of Moon Knight and Spider-Man would give the audience their Spidey needs and you a break from the Spidey suits! Plus, Arachknight is awesome!
This and the first one rebuilt my faith in myself to make a DIY Spider-Man suit. I’ve been struggling with it, especially since I’m very self conscious about, like EVERYTHING I do, but these made me think that maybe I can make a decent Spider-Suit without buying it online

I'm definitely crediting you when I make my spidey costume and make a video on it
As someone who has puff painted a suit and added soles, yes it's a paint but it's worth it. If you want an inner shoe for your suit instead of just having the sole on the suit buy yourself some fit kicks in the size you need and then you can add the soles and it'll give extra comfort and more room for your foot
Does anybody know how to make these mirror like eyes like the one on the thumbnail?
Don't the lenses fog up with the plastic on them?
I've never really had that problem. The spandex is pretty breathable
@@GodzillaMendoza I'll keep that in mind, seeing as how I'm making a mask of my own 😅
I used to sleep in my homemade Spidey suit when I was younger!
