I just bought this used for 80 euros and wanted to know a little more about the looper. It was only when the video started i noticed it was you, its good to know you never let us down
I have the Thomann Harley Benton version of this awesome switcher on my board. Real bang for the buck. I switch pedals in the FX loop of my amp (loop one) and other pedals in front of the amp (loop two). I also use the triggers to change channels on my amp and switch the onboard reverb on and off. Gives you so many tonal options. Just as described in this great vid.
AloneInBoston Hi, I have a question, I need presset A for clean without TubeScreamer (TS) and B C D with Tubescreamer but, I also need fifth preset so its Bybass mode, that is when you hit again button right? And problem is that I need automaticaly switch TS ON when is in Bypass, BUT I cant because TS must be in loop because off clean A preset that must be without TS so... I cant set TS On when is in bypass? Only amp switching? Help me pls. Thanks I just dont want Bybass as my clean because I dont use it alot.
Well, one of the main purposes of a loop switcher is to true-bypass the signal chain of thoses FXs that are currently not active. But the Joyo has only buffered bypass. It is still great to have all the combinations including trigger on just one click. But some of my effects (treble booster) only work without any buffer in the chain. So I'll go for a true-bypass switcher even if it is twice the price...
It is easy to have an impedance converter before fuzz or treble booster in loops so that they work with buffers. It can be made in a very small box - and they are passive.
Just bought one of these, glad I saw your video on the different switchers and loopers. Excellent bit of kit. Shame they don't do a 10 or 12 channel one, but it's pretty versatile and I love the fact it has amp switching.
+sonicwingnut you can actually use these with midi loopers (Effecs Gizmo comes to mind). I don't know the trick for the double looper but sounds interesting. EystchPi42 should totally make that video.
I just got mine today. I studied them all ($299-$1299) & picked this for now-due to your demo & the price-$165 & free shipping on Ebay & it got here in 6 days. Good demo! The manual seems a little weak (2 pgs) Kind of complicated but WELL worth the trouble to learn. I have a Pod XT Live & a GR55 but started buying pedals (mostly analog) & now that I have a bunch this should make it easier to get the tones I want.-Thanks--JB
Hi James, way cool, thanks for posting. I had all the digital stuff, but nothing beats the real deal.... Check out my latest series on the PXL switchers, there is a new tutorial for the PXL pro, maybe it can shed some light on the things the manual explains in a very complicated manner. Keep coming back.... good stuff still ahead!
Hi, the trigger outputs are normal 1/4" jacks, so your amps needs to be switchable with quarter inch cables, but in case you have a DIN cable input from your channel switcher I am sure there is a way to get something built that can translate the four trigger outputs into a DIN cable... you just need someone who knows basic wiring...
Hey Henning-- I'm glad I can talk to you again- Barely made it thru open heart surgery a couple of weeks ago. Have you had a chance to look @ the Boss controller($700) ? You can buy 5 Joyo's for the same $'s,so, what's the deal w/it? I'm going to see Cedric Burnside in a few minutes so I'll get back w/you. Thanks for what you do ---JB
James B Hey James.... man... sorry about the hear surgery.... but you survived... that's something... I looked at the Boss ES-8 and the demo I saw wasn't impressive... It can do things no other looper can, like change the order of FX, but there is very little visual feedback and a small display... I would really have to get one her to tell you more about it.
This makes it clear that this switcher is totally inadequate for use in stereo and almost all my pedals are stereo. The engineers for this need to go back to the drawing board!
This thing is clever. An easy way to have to sets of pedals in a wet/dry rig - and control everything with one click to two amps. A bonus is to have triggers on both amps - also with one click.
Really enjoy your zany humour and your demos of the pedals and switchers. I am a big fan of the Joyo Products they are really good value for money products that sound good. Cheers from Australia
Since I sell both MOEN and JOYO I will not comment, both great companies and great products, BUT YES you can use 2 units You may also want to look at JOYO's or MOEN's version I think both companies have versions with MIDI so much more can be achieved especially Moen's LIVE settings to run Strymon pedals properly with boost. Great videos as always from your channel. Thanx.
I’m having to send my PXL Pro back because the MUTE function doesn’t work. It’s very strange because everything else works flawlessly, and this is a great unit. Wonder why that one function would be defective on mine. It’s an awesome unit, well built and just the right size for me, just had to send mine back because the MUTE function doesn’t mute anything.
Thanks to your demo I'm able to use the Joyo. I'm wondering,w/your unbelievable equipment why you picked the Joyo All your stuff is top-line.You could of gone w/so many others.I went w/it because of your demo & my budget restraints. I'm even able to buy another 1 so I don't have to double up any pedals. I read interviews that pedals are a crutch but I've been playing almost 50 years & I find they help my creativity. Obviously you agree. Thanks Again for demoing something I can afford.-JB
Hey James... I got into Joyo by accident and I really like the sound and quality. I do have high end pedals and gear, but when it comes to pedals I have to say that the differences are very very small or none existent and the prices are a result of exclusivity or higher production costs in the US and Europe, but that does not reflect in the quality. Guitars... now that is a different matter. As for pedals... I have really only been dealing with pedals for about a year now and I am learning a lot with every video and through the comments from viewers... so keep posting... it is all a great exchange. As for the PXL... do the more expensive loopers sound better? Do they have better features? If this does what it needs to do, then that is all you need to know. Look at my latest videos... I made a new series for the PXL Loopers, maybe you can pick up some more tips !
You are Awesome, nice studio and love your guitar playing. Joyo products sound great and are affordable. going to add some to my effects pedal board. Thanks for your knowledge and keep sharing your ideas.
Man joyo is so underrated...many people say they copy every pedal but don't realize that many. MANY pedal companies are just rip off of other pedals...joyo is not anything different than other companies, except they're cheaper and easier to get a hold of.
Hi, I've just found your channel and I have a couple of Joyo products that I love (Joyo Zombie II amp and Joyo D-Seed). I am really interested in the PXL Pro, but need a way to switch channels on the D-Seed before I pull the trigger on the PXL. Can you switch D-Seed channels with the PXL and if so, how would you connect it. The D-Seed is also connected to my amp's effects loop which is why I want the PXL Pro. Thank you :)
Hi great demo and beautiful studio "la classe". what's the buzz on the disto? i can hear a big noise when you engage the loop with your preamp from amp? Do you have a ground loop hum? or that just a buzz from you pick ups? or the Power supply? I'm very interested by the PXL and i'm afraid to have a Ground loop hum? thanks
Hey Chris, I am not quite sure what you mean.... when I switch to the drive channel on the amp it is of course a lot dirtier and there is more noise, but that has nothing to do with the PXL8, it is very clean, I had no problems with any ground hum.
EytschPi42 Ok thanks a lot for your answer you're great ... after listen again i think it's a just a hum from pick ups ... I know you demonstrate Joyo but i go for the Moen GEC JR more comfortable for my effects chain (7 pedals in front & 1 in Loop) i hope it work great too. thanks again;)
Thanks for the response. I spoke to a guy who does custom cables and he asked "Do you want it to break out to 3 1/4" plugs for control of all the functions of the amp?" My amp is 3 channels, plus fx loop, so would I need to plug it into triggers 1-4? Or could I just plug into trigger 1 to control all functions? Again, thanks for your time.
Check out my videos for the PXL Live and the more detailed videos for the PXL Pro... all on my channel... you can buy these at www.go4.music.de they should ship to Finnland.
Hi Henning, I really enjoy your tutorials having discovered you on here; the humour adds a level of reality! I hope you can answer my question regarding the Joyo PXL-Pro... I currently use and don't mind my Boss GT-8 but I have succumbed to vanity and peer pressure and have started amassing pedals to replace the unit (I have been gigging it since 2007/8). The only issue is that I would like to take advantage of my modded Marshall TSL JCM2000 different channels. Two questions before I purchase this Joyo would be... 1. Can it and how does it change between the clean, overdrive and lead channels on the Marshall. 2. can it control the Marshalls reverb, On/Off? IF it can't control the reverb, its no biggie as I'll buy a pedal for the loop. Help us Obi Wan Henning, you're our only hope...
The PXL pro 8 has 4 usable triggers. Triggers are switches (wired remotes) to change amplifier channels and reverb/tremolo. Using 1/4" insert cable (Send/return cable). Insert cable is a 1/4" stereo (TRS) phone plug to Two (2) mono (TS) 1/4" phone plugs.
I always enjoy your videos. I think you do a great job. That being said, I just had my PXl8 die in the middle of a gig last night. Talk about a quick on the fly "removing what pedals I need" and leaving the rest on the board with the dead soldier that is my pxl 8. There is no way in good conscience that I would recommend one of Joyo's loop switchers, or one of their cloned pedals. After looking at all of the hassle most people are having with their service after the sale, I wouldn't buy one more thing from them. Maybe things are different in Europe, but here in the states you couldn't get a straight answer from them if you tried. Just look at all of the complaints on Amazon and many of the other online retailers that carry this junk. I am sure they send you stuff to get their name out there. It's just a shame they don't appreciate someone's time and money the way they do free publicity.
Thank you for this great video! I am having some problems with the trigger part... I manage to control my DD 20 delay and change the bank with the trigger, but when I change program on the Joyo pxl8 pro it doesn't change the bank to the original setting... Have I been clear????
yes I have tried placing buffered effects pedals before and after the American sound in the effects loop. yes I have wired in several types of pull down resistors to the In and Output jacks. yes I have even wired several types of pull down resistors to the circuit board"s input and output capacitors, and to my dismay nothing will seem to quiet down this pedal!!
sorry I meant to say then put the joyo American sound into the PXL pro looper to see if the pedal still pops when playing in through your effects loop. I am hoping that always having the American sound on and engaged but merely having the pxl looper "add it into the effects loop" will solve my popping issues since the Pxl Pro is a buffered switcher.
this thing is not so complicated to setup. My only issue is, where do i put my Noise gate? Currently im using MXR Noise Clamp which has a Send-Return input to. Where do i put this pedal and how the signal chain goes if im gonna use the send-return features?
+faridz husaini I would go like this: Guitar -> Tuner -> Input MXR -> Send MXR -> Switcher/Looper In -> --Effects in Loops -- -> Switcher/Looper Loop1 Out -> Amp Input -> Amp FX Send -> Return MXR -> Out MXR -> Switcher/Looper Loop2 In -> -- Effects in Loop 2 -- -> Switcher/Looper Loop2 Out -> Amp FX Return. In this setup, you got all the Effects in front of the Amp and also the Preamp sidechained. I run this setup with my TC Sentry and it works like a charm.
hi love all of review videos...great job...best gear review channel in youtube!!!!...i have a question...do you know whether the clicky switches on pxl8 pro can be mod/change to the soft/silent/non clicky switch instead? you heard of anyone every have done this?
Hi Pauly I know you said you had £200 euros worth of cable delivered Mind telling me which ones and where you got them? I have bought the fx8 pro (loving it !!!) bug I now need a whole lot of new cables and I cannot find low profile jack to jack cables anywhere !!
Conrad Kriel I bought the SOMMER CABLE Black Zilk. It is very thick but bendy and extremely high quality. I made them with a straight plug on one side (for the looper) and a pancake jack on the other.
Hi, say I have two channel pedal which can be engaged independently. Can I assign the 1st channel to 1 loop and the other to another loop thus when each loop is engaged, each channel selection may also engage? I hope my question makes sense. Thanks
good afternoon, congratulations on the video. I'm a guitar player from Brazil. can you explain how to use stereo delay using boogie table drive, usansdo delay in pxlpro loop 2 in send boogie table return ?? I have a new delay tc electronic red delay, unfortunately using in mono. how to use a stereo delay? I await your return. thank you so much.
Really nice review here! But I have one question concerning the triggers. I have a Peavey JSX with 3 channels and a boost/effect loop that is controlable with a footswitch and I am wondering if I would be able to change the different channels with the PXL Pro? The footswitch cable is a 7 pin midi cable so maybe I would need one that has a 7 pin midi connector on one end and two or more 1/4 inch connector on the other end to do so? Or would it be easier to use the joyo PXL live with a cable that has a 7pin midi on one side and a 5 pin connector on the other if that exist? 🤔
Thank you for your reply Ety. Is it possible to chain the two stereo pedals together and then connect to the one stereo loop on the Moen? Also have you heard of Disaster Area Loop?
yes, you can chain them together to put them both in the last loop... that works... I have probably looked at the Disaster Area products at one point, but don't remember the features
Hi The Joyo PXL PRO can control/change the channels of Mesa Boogie Rectifier Roadster? It has 4 channels Im very interested in the PXL PRO. Thanks a lot and great video
Hi man.. Great reviews! How would you use a wah pedal that you don't necessarily need on the joyo switcher? Would you just run it straight from the guitar before the 'guitar input'?
EytschPi42 - How would you work a regular non tru bypass cry baby wah into this loop? Should it remain on as all the other pedals would? Or should it be off and only turned on when needed? Or should it be beside the loop on its own?
Hi man, I love your vids, great audio knowledge, and now you even know to pronounce the word "proprietary!!" Only one question: What cable should i use to connect plx8 pro trigger with my Tech 21 footswitch channel, wich has normal TS input? In case I use Ts cable, wich parameter it would manage? It has triple footswich: reverb, channel, effect loop on/off. Thanks for all.
Actually, I have no idea what it would switch... it might be a proprietary (!!!) switching system that Tech21 uses with a simple TS cable which would not be compatible with the PXL Pro... so I guess you would just have to try and maybe ask Tech21 !!!
Hi henning, I already spent 3 hours researching an issue that maybe you know. Is it possible to place a volume pedal somewhere between dirt and delays in the joyo plx8, so I can control the amount of gain with the guitar volume and make some nice swells with the volume pedal? In that case should be Low or High impedance? Thanks in advance.
barakados Hi... I think it wouldn't be a problem to use one of the loops for a volume pedal and engage the loop if you want to use it... but as far as impedance goes... no clue...
My question is pretty straight forward. The Joyo PXL Pro has this very interesting 2nd loop that is meant to go in to the FX loop of an amp. Can I exploit this function to run 2 parallel signals? Here's what I'm arriving at - Pedal Loops 1-4 and Pedal Loops 5-8 run parallel to each other much like the A+B Mix mode on the Boss LS-2 if I connect the Loop 2-out and Loop 2-in with a patch cable and, when I don't have a patch cable going from Loop 2-out into Loop 2-in, all the pedals are in series like the A>B mode on the Boss LS-2. Please correct me if I'm wrong? If I'm right about this, the Joyo is what I'll get. If not, the LS-2 will find its way on my pedal board. What I want to achieve is simple. My dry tone running parallel with effect tone out of one output just like the LS-2. Say Pedal Loops 1-4 have my drives and Pedal Loops 5-8 have my delays and reverbs. I activate one loop from Pedal Loops 1-4 with the actual pedal being on and I activate one loop from Pedal Loops 5-8 with the actual pedal turned off. One patch cable is going from Loop 2-out to Loop 2-in. Will I get what I'm looking for?
This is a godsend for mixing parallel signals in a wet/dry rig. Two amps is mandatory with this use. Loop 1 for dry signals and loop two for wet signals.
Modern Amps have multi functions that can be switched off and on.. Reverb, channels, boost and so on.. These are often on a multicore cable.. In order to used the four triggers a breakout box would be needed to convert to 4 jacks. A pain to make but very easy to make.
Hello. Just got a Harley Brenton (like joyo 8XL PRO). It is fantrastic but I have 1 question : I have a Blackstar HT Dual Distortion pedal with 2 switch channesl (Channel 1 is crunch, Channel 2 is heavier distortion). My question is : how can we programm to switch between channel 1 and Channel 2 on the same pedal with this looper ? Thanks a lot !!
Somebody help me here: on my set distortions on loop 1-4, and time related on loops 5-8. Sometimes it makes an awful noise on amplifier whenever I change between letters (A-D). Why ?!
The triple x footswitch has 3 switches... switch 1 is crunch (rhythm) channel/ultra (lead) channel, switch 2 is clean channel/bypass, and switch 3 is fx loop/bypass. Would the 3 switches on the triple x footswitch be replaced by triggers 1-3? Again, thanks for your time.
Nice video. I have a question. When I change a preset, I want to keep tails of delay or reverb (course my delay and verb pedal can do it). Can I do that with that switcher? Thanks u!
Hi, is there a microsecond cut of signal switching between pedals/programmed loops. I suffered this issue with the mooer programmable switchee and don't want the same again. For example, i play a chord, as it rings i press another channel. Does that sustain continue uninterruped (apart from pedal tone) or is there a microsecond of silence between both channels? Thanks
Thank you. Do you know what specific Moen model that would be. Also, if I instead attached the stereo pedals to Joyopxl8 in mono and then split the mono signal going out of the looper and into the aby box then out to amps would that generate the same results? Thanks again.
I purchased the controller, but after a few days, it is completely silent, no sound passes (even creating an empty patch). Is there a way to reset the device?
Aristowi it can channel switch amps and u can have 2 Seperate loops of 4 pedals. (Run 2 or overdrive into front of amp...then put 3 or 4 delay reverb flange in the F2F loop)
Love the videos and awesome attitude. Just subscribed. Quick Question though: I am currently having a Marshall Plexi style amp built with hi/lo gain inputs (each having separate volume controls) and will use an A/B/Y box to control each input. The amp will also have a passive FX loop built which I will use line level pedals for like TC Electronic Hall of Fame Reverb/Corona Chorus. My question is are there any Joyo or Moen loopers you recommended that will not cause issues with the line level fx loop or with the A/B/Y box?
Has anyone figured what causes the pop sound when switching presets? I have a PXL PRO and it pops but it depends on what pedals you use in the loop. If you don't use reverbs, delays, flanger the pop is less noticeable.
i've watched many of your videos, but just not recently. You've probably covered this but can I use two joyo pxl live loopers together for use of more than 8 pedals? I realize I could put more than one pedal into each loop but I'd rather keep one per for maximum options. How would you run two loopers together?
callie roberts You could run one into the other, but you would have to switch both individually... WAIT... I just tested it... you can turn one looper around and flip it... you can move ABCD against DCBA and then you can conveniently switch both loopers with one foot... that would actually give you access to 16 loops with only one step.... it works.... I will make a video for that.... give me time...
Hello Friend! I need your help ... I have a pxl8-pro and I'm having trouble programming the trigger. For example: if I program bank 1A (EP, trirgger 1 and EN, trigger 1) and after I program bank 2A (EP, trigger 2 and EN, trigger 2) ... When I return to bank 1A the "EP and EN" are programmed in the trigger 2 and not in the 1 like beginning! Is that so?
can I ask you what is the microphone you are using in thia video? it sounds great and seems to be loud! would like that kind of mic for my home recordings
hey.. what brand of cable are you using in this video in the loop2 in patch bay? i'm referring to the patch cable that has a gold-ish coloured mini connector. i'm trying to track down those mini 1/4" connectors for patch cable repair/mod.
Great video man looks like a pretty good pedal too! I just have one question how does the trigger for the amp work? is t like a clean/dirty or more? because my peavey 6505 112 has a clean/crunch channel and a lead channel could I switch to that with this?
Roy Rodriguez There is a way to do it... someone else I talked to here has the same amp and they had a breakout box made that converts the four triggers into the the switch input on the EVH... but you'd have to make that breakout box or cable made... specs are available from EVH
Hi, I just did all kinds of tests and compressors are just lowering the volume if I get into a loop. I tried to put the compressor before Pxl-pro and goes well. I do not understand why this happens.
Man Pher The only thing that I can think of is that your compressor does not like the buffer that is built into the PXL and therefore outputs a different signal....
Nice video! How exactly do the triggers connect to the amp? Like exactly what kind of cables do you need? I have a Peavey Triple X and want to make sure if the pxl pro will work with my amp or not before buying. If I can't switch the triple x's channels with it I'll need to get the 8 instead. Can you please help? I can't find any info anywhere online. Thanks for your time.
I am currently working on a pedal board setup and have two stereo pedals that I would like to have incorporate into my Joyo pxl8. They are the reverb(v2 black pedal with two outs) and Tremveolpe(with one stereo out) that will be at the end of my chain. All that I am wondering is what cables would I need to use to acquire true stereo? Also, if the joyo pxl8 is mono then is it even possible. I am currently running stereo from the Tremvelope to an ABY box that goes out to my two amps and works well. Or, would I simply use mono cables for the pedals and one stereo cable from the Joyo pxl8 going out and then into my ABY box to get true stereo?
Nicholas Scholz It simply wouldn't work. The PXL is mono all the way through... There are very few loopers with two stereo loops... the new BOSS ES-8 would do the job for you... exactly what you need, but it retails for 700 dollars. MOEN Loopers have one stereo loop... but that doesn't fix your problem either... sorry.
no, not midi.... does the black star have a footswitch Input? You can use 1/4" mono cables to switch functions on your amp if it has a normal footswitch input.
EytschPi42 The cable used on blackstar's footswitch looks like a pc serial cable. In that case, there's nothing I can do to use this looper? I play lead guitar and sing... I don't use distortion from pedals at all, so this looper could help me a lot!
Ive been watching your videos for a while and im still undecided on what model of the switcher i need. My current rig is: Guitar = (Volume, Tuner, Noise Gate), OD, Fuzz, EQ, (Looper) = Amp Effects Out = Chorus, Delay, Reverb, Delay = Effects In (The pedals in brackets will not be set in the switcher loops) Because of the FX Loop im wondering whether the PXL-8 will let me do this as you mentioned i can set 8 different pedals in the loops, or whether i would have to spend a bit more and go for the Live/Pro model as it has 2 different sections for the loops?
I would get the Pro or Live to have two separate loops. Why is the Noise Gate BEFORE everything else? It should be behind the drives, that is where the noise happens.
Ok, thought i might have to. Did i also hear you right when you said that if your amp channel has a footswitch which isnt a 1/4'' jack you can get a stereo/mono jack to go from the amp and into the Pro? Would i then be able to program the Pro to have the distortion channel on my amp with some effects in the loops? I have the Noise Gate running a signal chain with both my OD and Fuzz, but if i can only really have 1 pedal per loop im guessing i will need to have the Noise Gate either in the same loop as only 1 pedal or just ignore it from my loop and run it last in my 'front of amp' chain? Sorry for all these questions, never used a switcher/looper before But i do appreciate the help ALOT!
swedish123 As for the noise gate.... yes, you could run it in a separate loop or just between the looper and the amp. As far as the switcher out goes... if your amp has 1/4 inputs for the footswitch it is easy to control it with the PXL, but if it uses a DIN plug (looks like a MIDI plug) then you have to manufacture a splitter cable. What amp do you have?
EytschPi42 I have Blackstar HT series, so the plug is a DIN but it also has a jack input on the amp as an alternative (luckily) so guess i can try and see if using a stereo/mono jack will switch the channels. Its not too big of a concern as i can just place the footswitch beneath the looper so my foot presses both switches at the same time. More concerned about the FX loop but thank you for answering my questions :D Your video on the Joyo D-Seed caused me to buy it and its my favorite budget delay pedal ever! So versatile if you aren't planning on spending more than £150
I bought one of this and I've been happy with it, but unfortunately it can't be used to Switch Mesa Boogie amp channel as it has different cable. Even after I use the adaptor, still can't do it. Do you have any suggestion what to do?
One question: After I have created a drive + delay timbre for example and saved in the pxl pro, if I change the settings of the drive pedal or delay will I keep the timbre saved in the pxl pro or will the timbre change?
I'm looking at buying a Joyo PXL Pro. Unlike the non pro version It has a buffered input and output that can't be turned off. If i plugged my guitar directly into the return of loop 1 instead of the guitar input, would this pass an unbuffered signal through to my other loops? So i could use the normal buffered guitar input if i want buffered and use return of loop 1 if i don't want buffered? Not used a switcher before so unsure
when saving a patch/preset/multiple stomps to one switch does the order that you select them put them in the signal path like normally placing you pedals one in front of another?
Hi, I just bought a PXL-PRO and want to communicate a problem: When involved in loop a compressor, the overall volume much lower. All the general tone is destabilized. I have 2 compressors (boss cs3 and Janglebox) and the two so does. solution ??
that is so strange.... I have used compressors with the PXL... Mooer and Joyo.... always in Loop 1... no problems with volume... the looper can't really have anything to do with that... it is just passing the signal through.... try another pedal in that position and see what happens to the volume...
I have a 6505, is there a way I can calibrate my clean and channel distortion on my head to this device? Like for EX: My BB preamp, a noise suppressor, and my channel distortion on one switch, and the clean channel and delay with reverb on another, could that happen?
Es ist also möglich, dass ich einem Presst zuteile das der JVM MIDI gesteuert in den grünen clean Kanal schaltet und gleichzeitig ein Bodenpedal ohne Midi aktiviert ist? Als Beispiel
Hi there, I just ordered my PXL pro. I have a question... Are you familiar with the ISP G string noise gate pedal? I only use it for the pedal that create a lot of noise or feedback. Do you know how I could wire it into one of the loops on the PXL?
It probably makes sense to put it behind the noisy pedals and always engage that loops WITH those pedals... you could even put it in the same loop with the noisy pedal... or BEHIND the whole looper and have it always on... probably best placed in the FX loop !
Hey man.. Quick question: If I find a joyo looper switcher on EBay from a Chinese seller, is it an official JoYo pedal or a fake? I need one of these.. Love the Octaswitch but too big and out of my price range right now & Can't find the Moen GEC9 anywhere. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks
This may have been in the video and I missed it, but can this be used to switch channels on two amps simultaneously? And I'm sure it can A B Y a two amp setup as well...?
I wonder if that will work with my Marshall JVM410H? The JVM has 4x3=12 channels altogether and I would like to switch them. Maybe I sould buy the Joyo PXL Live and switch my amp via midi? Or is there a chance I can do the same with the PXL Pro?
Just received this baby, Hope I can figure how to set up this, 'cause intruction manual seems a bit complicated ;) Do I need something special to switch channels on the amp, or just plug the stereo jack from my amp switch into trigger 1 of the joyo would be enough?
If the cable from the amp is STEREO, you might want to get an INSERT CABLE that makes two mono cable sour of the stereo cable and then you can switch both functions, otherwise only one of the functions will be switched...
Thanks a lot for the answer! I did as you said and get an insert cable, but it didn't work properly, I entered the ET mode, where switch A was the clear channel, but every time I try to press switch B (distortion channel) it didn't work properly the distortion channel light up for a milisecond and the went back to clean channel. I guess I'll had to check the polarity! My amp is a Peavey 5150 if that helps!
pedrinKS Not just the polarity, but there should be a setting between momentary switch and LATCH... something like that... looks like the switch is working, but only chart... you can change the trigger outs to a different setting that should work...
I might just have to get this, but I do have a question as I have not been able to find the manual. I currently run 2 delay units (boss dd-20 and a tc nova delay) and i tap in the tempo of each pedal with a jhv3 master tap. I noticed you said that the triggers can be set to momentary, does that mean that one can be used for tap tempo?
Don't think so. You can program the triggers, but that program would also switch everything else. The switches are also hard clicky ones and not tap style. I would continue using the one you have!
Fitzliputzli23 so right! i should have a taken a closer look before to buy! i got to now issues i can hardly handle :/
It is easy to have an impedance converter before fuzz or treble booster in loops so that they work with buffers. It can be made in a very small box - and they are passive.
The PXL8 has NO buffer inside!!!
Just bought one of these, glad I saw your video on the different switchers and loopers. Excellent bit of kit. Shame they don't do a 10 or 12 channel one, but it's pretty versatile and I love the fact it has amp switching.
there is a trick to switch two at the same time... I'll make a video about it soon... that gives you 16 loops!
+EytschPi42 I'm sooo curious about this! Can you give us any hint? :D
+EytschPi42
Hi, can you explain the trick for the 16 loop please? Thanks
Hi James,
way cool, thanks for posting.
Love these videos!! I finally understand how these work. Bought one of these yesterday, and I'm beyond excited to set it all up. Thanks!
Jamie-leigh Smith Thanks man!
This thing is clever. An easy way to have to sets of pedals in a wet/dry rig - and control everything with one click to two amps. A bonus is to have triggers on both amps - also with one click.
Nice review I'm getting one to upgrade my existing lost tone and what I most like is that I can switch on 4 pedals at one switch
Really enjoy your zany humour and your demos of the pedals and switchers.
I am a big fan of the Joyo Products they are really good value for money products that sound good.
Cheers from Australia
Buying a D Seed delay and one these this week. Already use the Joyo Comp and the analog delay patched through my EHX Superego.
Background music is terribly disstracting in this otherwise OK video....
I wish this had an option for the number of pedals up front, and in the FX loop. The only pedal I use in the FX loop is reverb.
Yes, you would need to plug it into triggers 1-4.... depends on how the amp switches... but you can't do it with just one trigger output...
Really nice looper, but there is a very noticiable POP sound when the effects are activated. You can damage your amp speaker.
Thanks for the response. I spoke to a guy who does custom cables and he asked "Do you want it to break out to 3 1/4" plugs for
control of all the functions of the amp?" My amp is 3 channels, plus fx loop, so would I need to plug it into triggers 1-4? Or could I just plug into trigger 1 to control all functions? Again, thanks for your time.
Ich muss das sofort kaufen! Schade dass das ist noch nicht zum Kaufen hier in Finnland. Vielen Dank für dich und deine Videos!
Yes, it can take care of The dual foot switch, you might need an insert cable, meaning mono to stereo....
Thank you for this great video! I am having some problems with the trigger part... I manage to control my DD 20 delay and change the bank with the trigger, but when I change program on the Joyo pxl8 pro it doesn't change the bank to the original setting... Have I been clear????
Those "Stauts" LEDS made my day :). I of course get that this is pre-production model but, those chinese people :)
This is 100% what i am looking for! Afordable and with amp control features. If THOMANN gets this for us less than 200€ i definitely be buying it!
Sick video, will probably be checking out more videos!
yes I have tried placing buffered effects pedals before and after the American sound in the effects loop.
yes I have wired in several types of pull down resistors to the In and Output jacks.
yes I have even wired several types of pull down resistors to the circuit board"s input and output capacitors, and to my dismay nothing will seem to quiet down this pedal!!
sorry I meant to say then put the joyo American sound into the PXL pro looper to see if the pedal still pops when playing in through your effects loop.
I am hoping that always having the American sound on and engaged but merely having the pxl looper "add it into the effects loop" will solve my popping issues since the Pxl Pro is a buffered switcher.
i can try that and See if This help with The popping isse.
You should remind me to do it, or I will forget... email henning at henningpauly dot com
I love your studio. Great demo. I just ordered one.
Great.... thanks !!!
this thing is not so complicated to setup. My only issue is, where do i put my Noise gate? Currently im using MXR Noise Clamp which has a Send-Return input to. Where do i put this pedal and how the signal chain goes if im gonna use the send-return features?
before your switcher
+faridz husaini I would go like this:
Guitar -> Tuner -> Input MXR -> Send MXR -> Switcher/Looper In -> --Effects in Loops -- -> Switcher/Looper Loop1 Out -> Amp Input ->
Amp FX Send -> Return MXR -> Out MXR -> Switcher/Looper Loop2 In -> -- Effects in Loop 2 -- -> Switcher/Looper Loop2 Out -> Amp FX Return.
Hi... nope, Never hears of this... why does it bother you that they click? Most pedals click just as much!
lightning speed reply...thanks...haha i guess you r right...they do click as much...
Hi Pauly
I know you said you had £200 euros worth of cable delivered
Mind telling me which ones and where you got them?
Is it possible to chain the two stereo pedals together and then connect to the one stereo loop
on the Moen? Also have you heard of Disaster Area Loop?
yes, you can chain them together to put them both in the last loop... that works... I have probably looked at the Disaster Area products at one point, but don't remember the features
Another great video, thanks Henning.. Just wondering what power supply you used for this.?
Hi
The Joyo PXL PRO can control/change the channels of Mesa Boogie Rectifier Roadster? It has 4 channels
Im very interested in the PXL PRO.
Thanks a lot and great video
but will it tune and switch your guitar for you on the flick of a button? didn't think so
I would probably put it before the looper... or in loop 1 and leave it on... should work just fine!
Thanks for all your help mate, have a trip to China.
have a good trip a mean. Be lucky
I think it wouldn't be a problem to use one of the loops for a volume pedal and engage the loop if you want to use it... but as far as impedance goes... no clue...
Before I buy this I need to know if you can use pancake jacks on all of the loops, or are they too wide
My question is pretty straight forward.
The Joyo PXL Pro has this very interesting 2nd loop that is meant to go in to the FX loop of an amp. Can I exploit this function to run 2 parallel signals?
Here's what I'm arriving at -
Pedal Loops 1-4 and Pedal Loops 5-8 run parallel to each other much like the A+B Mix mode on the Boss LS-2 if I connect the Loop 2-out and Loop 2-in with a patch cable and, when I don't have a patch cable going from Loop 2-out into Loop 2-in, all the pedals are in series like the A>B mode on the Boss LS-2.
If I had a rediculously large budget Id probably going wireless! The Flying spaghetti monster has landed! All of it sounds great though!
The pedal must have external swithing on a jack socket to do this. Like many Nobels pedals do.
yes you can .. this switcher is designed to have a section in the effects loop.
Thanks u!
no
Hi, is there a microsecond cut of signal switching between pedals/programmed loops.
What does this looper does that the PXL8 can't do? I mean, you can also program several different pedal combinations with the PXL8, right? Thanks.
I can't tell you, can't find any info on that, but I assume it is. I definitely can not hear any degredation.
Has anyone figured what causes the pop sound when switching presets? I have a PXL PRO and it pops but it depends on what pedals you use in the loop. If you don't use reverbs, delays, flanger the pop is less noticeable.
TE PASA CON LAS MXR ? SUELEN HACER ESE TIPO DE POP COMO RUIDO...
Can you explain how the Et, Eb, En, Ep works? I just want to change to dirty channel when hitting A. What settings do I have to use?
i've watched many of your videos, but just not recently.
The one he is speaking into is a Blue Blueberry.
Thanks good review. I know this is 9yo.. is this still worth getting? Thanks
still one of the cheapest and ruggest ones
Line 6 Helix or a switcher and pedals????
Any opinions?
hey.. what brand of cable are you using in this video in the loop2 in patch bay? i'm referring to the patch cable that has a gold-ish coloured mini connector. i'm trying to track down those mini 1/4" connectors for patch cable repair/mod.
Hi Brandon, sorry it took me so long... no clue what cable they are... got them years ago at guitar center...
check the joyoaudio website... I sadly don't have it anymore, my student has it, but I know for sure that it was under 60cm wide...
Great video man looks like a pretty good pedal too!
I just have one question how does the trigger for the amp work?
is t like a clean/dirty or more? because my peavey 6505 112 has a clean/crunch channel and a lead channel could I switch to that with this?
+Bas Koole If the amp has a normal 1/4 inch footswitch input, then YES, you can switch it.
it has! thank you very much! keep making these great videos!
+EytschPi42 So I'm out of luck with a Blackstar channel switch with VGA?
+EytschPi42 Do I have to use a TRS cable to switch then?
Yes. Peavey decided to use that crappy DIN connector with a propietary pinout but there are adaptors out there....
Which is better? The pxl live or pxl pro?
I have an evh 5150iii with a quarter inch jack channel cable. How on earth do I program the pxl pro to switch between the amp channels?
Roy Rodriguez There is a way to do it... someone else I talked to here has the same amp and they had a breakout box made that converts the four triggers into the the switch input on the EVH... but you'd have to make that breakout box or cable made... specs are available from EVH
Can i send both loop1 and loop2 of PXL live to the front of my Amp? (..maybe with a Y cable?) My amp doesn't support fx loop.
Hi, I just did all kinds of tests and compressors are just lowering the volume if I get into a loop. I tried to put the compressor before Pxl-pro and goes well. I do not understand why this happens.
Man Pher The only thing that I can think of is that your compressor does not like the buffer that is built into the PXL and therefore outputs a different signal....
is there any way i can use the pxl pro in totally manual way instead of as patches?
I'm torn between this and the Gigrig. Thoughts?
Hi... well... the Joyo is a great product, but the GigRig is in a different league.... at about 8 times the price... and also a lot bigger....
Ive gone for the g system
I knew I should have bought that plane controller ... :D
MOEN Loopers have one stereo loop... but that doesn't fix your problem either... sorry.
Hi there! One little question... I have a blackstar head. How do I suppose to connect it to the looper? Via midi cables?
Thank you sir!
no, not midi.... does the black star have a footswitch Input? You can use 1/4" mono cables to switch functions on your amp if it has a normal footswitch input.
EytschPi42
The cable used on blackstar's footswitch looks like a pc serial cable. In that case, there's nothing I can do to use this looper? I play lead guitar and sing... I don't use distortion from pedals at all, so this looper could help me a lot!
Ive been watching your videos for a while and im still undecided on what model of the switcher i need.
My current rig is:
Guitar = (Volume, Tuner, Noise Gate), OD, Fuzz, EQ, (Looper) = Amp
Effects Out = Chorus, Delay, Reverb, Delay = Effects In
(The pedals in brackets will not be set in the switcher loops)
Because of the FX Loop im wondering whether the PXL-8 will let me do this as you mentioned i can set 8 different pedals in the loops, or whether i would have to spend a bit more and go for the Live/Pro model as it has 2 different sections for the loops?
Sorry for all these questions, never used a switcher/looper before
But i do appreciate the help ALOT!
swedish123 As for the noise gate.... yes, you could run it in a separate loop or just between the looper and the amp.
More concerned about the FX loop but thank you for answering my questions :D
Your video on the Joyo D-Seed caused me to buy it and its my favorite budget delay pedal ever! So versatile if you aren't planning on spending more than £150
I bought one of this and I've been happy with it, but unfortunately it can't be used to Switch Mesa Boogie amp channel as it has different cable. Even after I use the adaptor, still can't do it. Do you have any suggestion what to do?
Which model of Mesa?
It's F50. I've modify the cable, still doesn't work.
Have you tried a mod. cable with a normal 2-way switch?
One question: After I have created a drive + delay timbre for example and saved in the pxl pro, if I change the settings of the drive pedal or delay will I keep the timbre saved in the pxl pro or will the timbre change?
it will change
I'm looking at buying a Joyo PXL Pro. Unlike the non pro version It has a buffered input and output that can't be turned off. If i plugged my guitar directly into the return of loop 1 instead of the guitar input, would this pass an unbuffered signal through to my other loops? So i could use the normal buffered guitar input if i want buffered and use return of loop 1 if i don't want buffered? Not used a switcher before so unsure
when saving a patch/preset/multiple stomps to one switch does the order that you select them put them in the signal path like normally placing you pedals one in front of another?
No, the order is always the same... loop 1-8.... you pick the order just like on a normal board....
Mooer and Joyo.... always in Loop 1... no problems with volume... the looper can't really have anything to do with that... it is just passing the signal through.... try another pedal in that position and see what happens to the volume...
ok, I test it and you commented
I have a 6505, is there a way I can calibrate my clean and channel distortion on my head to this device? Like for EX: My BB preamp, a noise suppressor, and my channel distortion on one switch, and the clean channel and delay with reverb on another, could that happen?
If the switch inputs on your amp are 1/4" jacks, then you can do it, but if it is a proprietary footswitch it gets more complicated...
Which one better pxl 8 or pxl pro?
Hey man.. Quick question:
If I find a joyo looper switcher on EBay from a Chinese seller, is it an official JoYo pedal or a fake? I need one of these.. Love the Octaswitch but too big and out of my price range right now & Can't find the Moen GEC9 anywhere. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks
This may have been in the video and I missed it, but can this be used to switch channels on two amps simultaneously? And I'm sure it can A B Y a two amp setup as well...?
Oh, both amps are switched using a standard 1/4" stereo cable
I wonder if that will work with my Marshall JVM410H? The JVM has 4x3=12 channels altogether and I would like to switch them. Maybe I sould buy the Joyo PXL Live and switch my amp via midi? Or is there a chance I can do the same with the PXL Pro?
I have the same dubt
Is this bad boy available in germany? I can only find the 2 trigger version or one loop times 8 version at thomann and music store...
Just received this baby, Hope I can figure how to set up this, 'cause intruction manual seems a bit complicated ;)
Do I need something special to switch channels on the amp, or just plug the stereo jack from my amp switch into trigger 1 of the joyo would be enough?
EytschPi42
I'll do that, thanks!
