I was in a boarding school in panchgani and in the year 1998-99 she had come to our school as a chief guest when she was the superintendent of police in satara district.. and what a personality in that uniform.. smart and spick and span.. and she gave a wonderful speech to the students.. great experience..
Madam Kiran Bedi was invited as a speaker in psychology deptt.in Jesus and Mary College Delhi University. Loved her speech.

Cyrus, I would like to share a biker story. My dad was driving (NCR Delhi) and there was this biker zipping around and cutting lanes. We happened to stop next to him at the light. My father rolled down the window and told him "Beta aise rashly kyon chala rahe ho". He replies "Chacha, jawani ka josh hai, AAP Kya jano". My dad responded "beta, humane bhi jawani Dekhi hai aur bike bhi chalayi hai. Par tum aise chalaoge to Meri Umar dekhne ke liye shayad he rahoge". The biker had a light bulb moment and apologized and assured that he would drive better.
May be you need to say something similar. Broacha Janta party can surely work on this change!

This was so lovely! What a lady! How we brush the entire police force with the same brush and then when one listens to people like 'maam', one realises how wrong is that perception! I guess not even once she took credit of something good she did. Only mentioned facts and openly stated the problems in politics and the system. People usually get carried away in such shows, she is cool, duty tha so it had to be in that way. Another great podcast 👍

I remember the particular politician in Satara, I was 12-13 at that time. It was a huge case and conditions could have gone way out of control. Considering stature of politician, she did that!! Hats off!!

Cyrus bhai I am big fan but just a suggestion. You seem a bit eager to show that you read the book by often adding details. Please let the guest speak more than yourself. You can always include humor in your questions. Let the guests build their own narrative when answering your questions. By allowing for each guests personality to come thru, you will keep each episode different and prevent the show from becoming just a repetitive Cyrus monologue.

Okay. Meeran Ma'am was adorable. We need more police officers like her. As you said all the senior-level police officers can form an association or some platform where they could vociferously pitch for good police reforms. Here, all said and done, PM Modi may take her suggestions and ideas seriously. I hope he can listen to her and read her book. From what I gather 1. He's clean 2. If he likes an idea there's no stopping him 3. He's one leader who can translate good ideas into practical reality.
I hope it's not my naive optimism.

Great interview. Hats off to mam. But on one point I will not agree which is of men being weak and not raising the point. I half agree on that point which is men should raise the point for such issues to make a point. But there is one more caveat here of men not raising the issue which was also made by Cyrus (i.e men being afraid of losing their position). In woman’s case not always but most of time there will be a man also earning the money for the family but not always for men since most of the time they being the sole earner of the family which usually becomes their fear. Thats why half agree with that point.
