This song reminds me when I went looking for my brothers body . He was killed and it gives ya the chills to hear this loved the man in black and U2.Thanks For that tribute. My brother a guy like Johnny Cash. Could tell you a great story. Have fun up there you both. I like to see who talk more.
I absolutely love this song.. its a great tribute to Johnny. Since U2 respected him, so much. Edge sounded great, always loves his voice, Great tribute U2.. Hats off to you, all <3
Someone else's comment on the original version of this song: "The lyrics of The Wanderer tells the story of a preacher who embarks on a personal journey and embraces all that the world offers: Love, knowledge, money, etc, in fact the preacher is Johnny Cash that is looking for God, the lyrics encompass an apocalyptical future, Bono said that both worked in the composition of this song in Dublin, this song was inspired by the book of Ecclesiastes, one of the books of The Holy Bible, he said that they had decided to call it the preacher but finally decided to call it the wanderer, this is more than an excellent song, this one is a masterpiece..!." Putting it here so people can know more about the song and its origin.
I would've liked to see Johnny Cash perform this live with U2. That would have been so cool. But, this version is incredible none the less. I like how many musical avenues U2 moves in & out of. That's why they've been around for so long. Simply, Superb musicianship by the entire band collectively. Timeless.
Johnny Cash's music and performances have always been so powerful. Now we have a respected group showing proper tribute to a master of songwriting and performance. Thank you U2!
Seems a lot of people in the comments don't know this is a U2 song that Bono and the Edge wrote and asked Johnny Cash to song on the 'Zooropa' album.

Bono wrote this song, I think one of his best lyrics. ✌🏻
The Edge at the end... I just listen to that over, and over, and over again. Too good.
Timeless classic. Should re-release zooropa with this version.
