I also never understood Akechi's quote about the loans. In the game he said after winning the bet in the battle arena, he had 460k. But after that, he said he put out ANOTHER loan before paying off the previous one, resulting in 10k more coins than here. What establishment, real or otherwise, lets you take out a second loan, before you paid off the first one?
Quick Google search turns up that yes, you can take out more than one loan, but that typically requires being something of a regular as the lender needs to know whether or not you’re good with making your payments on your loans on time. The time to gain a second loan can take months or even a year of proving that you’re trustworthy enough to take out more than one loan at a time. So either Sae’s casino is really trusting or Akechi did some very early reconnaissance (I imagine with the stress of her work it’s entirely possible for Sae’s palace to have been around for a fair while). Or knowing him, he could’ve had something more up his sleeve.
@@Rexaura888 I guess it makes sense since the real sae does trust akechi a bit since she does work with him and shares her beliefs about the phantom theives. And at least in her mind views akechi as wanting them brought to justice as much as her.
Sae is still competing in a proffession dominated by men. She is constantly working to succeed and to provide her sister. Sae's entire life is around her job. She wakes up in the morning and go to work, she comes back home and bring her work with her. I think at some point in her life she was so stressed from it that she became obssesed with her job. It's not about money anymore, it's about surviving in a competitive proffession and keep working. Sae's palace is not about getting paid or becoming rich, not about showing off her earnings, it's about succeeding and reaching the top. A proper camera won't get her to the top.
Shadow Sae: You need 1 mil coins to cross the bridge. Akechi: Oh, you mean the 900 thousand that I got by borrowing money and betting on Joker plus the money Joker has won that adds up to one million? Shadow Sae: *WHAT?!*
i have to say, when Akechi was explaining how he got more coins in game, I did not even understand what he meant, now with the animation showing how he got it, it makes a LOT of sense now
Akechi obsessively tallying all the math to screw Sae over during that whole operation was truly the scariest part of the whole game. I learned a long time ago: Never mess with an angry nerd. Nerd rage is HORRIFIC!
*Sae mentions that the price increased from 100000 to 1,000,000 coins* Me: WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?! *Akechi explains how he was able to earn 1,000,000 coins* Me: BULLSEYE!
Basically, he took the previously discarded Taro Tanaka member’s card that’s came with a 1000 coin bonus. He used those coins as the fee for the Maze of Darkness and then won, resulting in 10k coins. The establishment allows loans up to the amount you currently possess. So he took a loan and then had 20k. He then bet it all on Joker, and his odds were 23:1. Since Joker won, Akechi’s winnings came to 460k. Then he payed back the original 10k loan. Lastly, he took another loan, resulting in 900k coins. Added with Joker’s total amount, it reaches more than 1mil coins. I hope that has easy enough to understand.
0:14 Shadow Sae: From this moment forward, the new fee to use the bridge WILL BE 1000000 COINS!!! Panther: Whatt??!! Skull: That isnt fair, youre playing dirty!
imagine the look on sae's face when she logs off the camera expecting some time at least before the phantom thieves rack up those coins, only to hear the bridge moving in less than five minutes
You'd think Sae's Palace would be more than capable making a clearer picture of herself speaking through the monitor. The hell is this bit pixel shit she has going on here?
So stupid. There was literally not a single reason for this. If she raised it to a mil, she easily could have raised it again but could t for plot purposes. Just so Akechi could seem clutch? God, stop trying to make Akechi seem cool. If she had said ‘2 million’ you all would have been screwed.
Yeah, imma be honest, that’s how I felt when playing the game, because she was literally listening in on Akechi explaining how he got more chips, and she did nothing but be shocked that it happened. At least in the anime, Sae stops listening in to go about her business, leaving them to head on up. Minor but a better excuse than the game.

Konjiki didn’t he pay back the 10k before taking out the 450,000 loan?
Aegis no, in the game, he paid AFTER getting a 460,000 loan and then paying back the 10k resulting in 910k.

He's so sharp that it's almost scary.
Sharp enough to puncture the hull of an empire-class Fire Nation battle ship, leaving thousands to drown at sea?

Not sharp enough to resist pancakes tho.

The anime version of this part made more sense than the game. Probably because there was more animations that show what he did.
