So happy to see you are continuing to post. I am finally getting time to set up my studio and starting to play. Fun to just go through your lessons and learn along with the high school students.
Hi, best tutorial so far and I have seen a lot. I am a beginner potter from Pakistan and unfortunately none of the tools you use and clay are available here. I have processed my clay from soil and it is pretty decent. However, I feel the clay you use is more sturdier than mine, I am sure when my technique improves that will help. Can you make a video using home made clay from soil and give some ideas on making the tools from everyday materials that would be a BIG help. Cheers
Hello- I use two different glazes with this project with my students. Here is a link to the playlist which shows the two glazing techniques I am using. ua-cam.com/play/PLj0pNzEmvM_oCacLjYvR3iWdXbBmLdGva.html
Hi Robert- no, my high school studio is not outfitted with equipment and ventilation for mixing clay from dry ingredients! The clay in this video is standard 103.
Hi Jessica- only one way to find out... try it!! :). If you are getting lines you don't like, then try switching to a flexible rib to see if that helps! Wooden ribs are wonderful... I probably rely more on the flexible ones though to be more "forgiving" and produce fewer lines when I use them. :)
@@KaransPotsAndGlass Thank you so much for sharing this as well as your video! I’ve just got back into pottery after a long break and am looking forward to re-watching your very clear and helpful videos and making a pinch pot today. I’d like to try burnishing mine as I’ve never done that before.
You can make your own ribs from old credit cards or hotel room keys! I actually have a bunch that I made from some donated hotel room keys and they work fantastic! I just cut them in the kidney shape so they make a nice rounded edge for shaping the interior!
Teaching a ceramics class for the first time this summer, this video made me feel so much more comfortable

I've just set myself up too so we can learn together - along with the students :)

Thank you so much for this video, we will be following along from now on.
Great video, thank you! If my classroom doesn't have enough ware-boards for storage, what would be good inexpensive alternative?
Just putting things in thin trash bags and a piece of cardboard under the bag may help with a sturdy surface?!
THANK YOU I was stressing. Can’t wait to make my piece.
Thankyou! So helpful for beginner ceramics teacher!
Love this, thanks for sharing!
amazing work. what type of paint are you using?

Did you make the clay homemade and if so how?

Is it okay if I use a wooden rib instead of a rubber rib to smooth out the clay?

Where can I get the information sheet you are using.
Here you go, Sierra! I just ask that people don't copy it to sell! drive.google.com/file/d/1Ua-wxSSgU0OLA7xBdrzOwyd3kEMQwe5s/view?usp=sharing
