I'm guessing that by this time, pete had been an L.A. studio musician for a good 10-15 years by now, so he was probably already really well known as one of the top players in L.A.
any idea when this aired? apparently the guys from Steely Dan heard Pete Christlieb on The Tonight Show and decided to use him on Deacon Blues (and later, F.M.) ...just wondering if this might be the show where they spotted Pete's playing.
Pete Christlieb is one of Los Angeles' first call studio reed players...he must have played on over 500 or more t.v., film and phonograph sessions over the years. Whoever contracted the recording session for Steely Dan undoubtedly knew Pete Christlieb and hired him to play on the session. That's the way it happens in the music business.
Beautiful! Conte was a Treasure..wonderful Christlieb solo and lead trumpet by the great John Audino Vaughn 🎺
Great band, great chart!

Such great playing! They're both monsters!
Energy and so much Talent ! pure Inspiration! ... note : The great Kenny Shroyer on bass trombone
Pete!

This is the kind of arrangement you get when you're bored playing the song the same way for 40 years
Who let those killers loose.

"Gerry Hamman"'s comment is stupid and libelous. Why is this allowed, to throw slime on anyone? Mr. Leicht should sue.
