For the people considering LK runs: I did this 2 years ago on Single Player and my aim was to do nothing else but LK runs til I had Infinity and Enigma. To entertain myself I brought the Harry Potter audio book just to have something to focus on. 40 - 50 seconds on average per run on players7 and my first Ber dropped on Chapter 2 of Book 6!!! (and it was the German version read by Rufus Beck which is waaaay longer than the English version). So .... don't do LK runs guys, it will cost your soul! At least I was entertained ... the HP audio books are really nice ^^
Just kill every random elites/champions you see on the way while you do whatever you are doing. Random zombies dropped me Vex on the way while I was searching for the tower. Also a random pack dropped me a Shako while I was on my way to Baal. Both of those were "skippable" monsters if you try to "farm fast". Just slow down and kill stuff on the way if you see elite packs, it's worth it in the long run.
definitely always worth it if you can efficiently kill them. i believe unique or champion mobs also have a tc bonus of +[1-3] too, which just increases the odds of something nice
@@d8l835 I would feel bad myself if I asked someone to boost me Hell without any compensation. Also if someone offers a deal, I won't deny it, why would I? Besides, it's a service, he/she needs someone's time and ability to crush Hell, and offers a fair price for it. Do you also say to your taxi drivers that they should drive you to your destination for free? I bet you don't. Also, they always have the option to "play the game themselves" for free. Hf is a very generous and normal offer for a Hell rush, I offer it to others if I need a rush to my alts, and I rush others for it, it's not weird or greedy, both sides can feel fair and good.

Been watching so many of your videos and use most of your sources for learning, I literally typed in “how to find high runes” and you have a new vid up lmao you da man
Regarding chaos runs there is the seal popping technique allowing you to insta-kill monsters in the area when you activate the last seal. The thing is that only monsters up to close to two screens away from you will drop items (with 0 MF, but since you're looking for runes who cares). But the game considers the monsters active for drops if you've been close to them in a span of something like 7 seconds. First pop a portal at the bottom of chaos, the game considers it to be like an active player; then kills the seals' bosses and leave the last portal. Before you do activate this portal just teleport around to activate monsters' drops and then activate this last portal to insta-kill monsters and just look around for the dropped loot.
Your tip about ghosts in Arcane Sanctuary was great. I went into a game with 5 people and got an Ohm rune almost immediately, followed by a Sol and a Lem.
I just have to say, I admire you guys that play this game. The only reason I am watching this is to write an article about it, and just looking at this aches me to my core. I never understood what's so fun about these games. You roam around, kill stuff, get stuff in return, and then do it all over again. I guess there's a storyline and whatnot, but wow, this gameplay bores me to death.
Short story: everything up to and including Ist - run Countess on appropriate difficulty. Gul, Vex and maybe Ohm are reachable with some dedication by smashing Hell Countess runes together. Anything above Ohm, you will never see unless you have literally thousands of hours to sink into the game, or trade with someone who does (or use bots or find a way to cheat), but best chance is areas with very high monster counts like cows, since you literally have to kill 100,000 monsters on average before you see a high-level rune.
@@thezod2307 Hmm, I've been having a lot more luck than expected too, compared to last time I played several years ago. I wonder if Resurrected upped the rune drop rates
I wish I'd have met you online in 2000 lol. I love how you started out though, "target these areas" and then just finally came to the point of it all. Kill as many things as quickly as you can... High density areas are always best!
I remember back in the day i used to rush people for their mephisto stone drop. Had map hack the whole nine yards. Solo ubers with my smiter paladin. Just bought the game again and starting from scratch. So nostalgic.
Chaos is the most fun place to farm, it is right next to the wp and you just tp in and kill stuff within seconds. Chaos requires decent gear though to be quick because you will encounter Lighting, Fire and Cold immunes. I run a Frozen orb and Meteor sorceress with a strong mercenary which deals with most cold+fire immunes in seconds. I do not recommend fire or lightning only for chaos without extremely good gear with a lot of -resistance because there are ware too many enemies for your mercenary to handle. You can do Chaos as Blizzard but your mercenary will need to kill all Oblivion Knights which in some games is a mess because there can be A LOT of them. I got a Ber rune from my last set of Chaos runs.. =)
Mr llama!!! You probably already know this but I just stumbled onto something huge. So the drive by chaos. You can turn up to players 7 before you go into the river of flame and it will populate more monsters. Then when you tele past them you can switch to players 1 to kill the seal bosses. But before you tele through you can switch back to players 7 and then tele through and then pop the last seal and the mass of mobs will drops waaaaaaaaaay more stuff
Another place I enjoy is halls of pain. I find the monster density in there can be pretty high, the narrow hallways helps with keeping them together. But my favorite mob to spawn in there is the fetishes, because there seems to be a larger number of them in comparison to other mobs. But all types of mobs can spawn down there, i believe even ghosts.
Travincal Council can only drop up to Cham. However, the drop rate for high runes on Council is amongst the highest in the game, second only to Ghosts or Wraiths. If you have a good Blizz sorc or a decent Zealer with Laying of Hands, it by far one of the most efficient places to farm for high runes. However, you'll probably have to do like 1000+ runs to have a good chance at one high rune or more. Council is also very good for charms and Rainbow Facets + gold for gambling.

@@FlaxDK been playing this game since original release and I farm Meph a lot. Best I have seen from him is ohm, couple vex. Getting jah and ber from him in a short amount of time is insane. Chaos and cows is where I have found most of mine.
I place I have been trying out lately is "halls of pain"(Nihlatak WP map). It's only TC84 I believe but the mob density is very high. Have flayer jungle blowdart mobs (found a Sur rune in flayer jungle couple days ago). Seems like a good place to search for runes. It's basically like running Flayer jungle but at a higher TC level( Flayer Jungle is TC80). Nice when you have grown tired of cow level and the usual TC85 areas.
Found a Jah in Trav and a Ber off of a ghost in the tower within a month of each other (single player PlugY). Happiest summonmancer, ever. Now after a Lo for a Grief. Get high runes in 1 million easy steps: 1) buy d2r, 2) spend x amount of hours leveling your character high enough to play the hell difficulty, 3-999999) die multiple times before realizing you need to level more, 1000000) play 200-300 hours just killing stuff hoping that RNGesus loves you(because, at this point, everyone else outside of the group you do runs with thinks you're an a-hole), 1000001) decide your character isn't good enough to do this whole rune farming thing and repeat steps 2-1000000 and hope the next build is better
@@spawnofblood7892 eh it enables me to do all of hell with good resistances and MF...I wouldn't call it trash tho. Still farming for better in slot gear tho but most is much more expensive.
I usually find runes in: (by act): Act 1: two crypts where you fight Blood Raven, Catacombs 1-4, Jail 1-3 and obviously Countess\Tower. Act 2: Rocky\Dry Hill\Far Oasis, Snake Temple, Arcane S, Valley\Canyon and Tombs (all seven) Act 3: Kurast (any), Trav, Durance of Hate 1-3 Act 4: Entire act 4, especially Plains of Despair and City of the Damned as they often spawn with Ghosts Act 5: Halls of Pain\Anguish, Crystal Passage, Ancient's Way, Worldstone Keep 1-3
Go to high density area, kill as many things as possible in the shortest amount of time possible, brute force the drops, you'll get runes. I found a Vex rune randomly in Stony Field from a trash mob looking for the Tristram portal for cows. I died just before going in portal, so I had to tele from WP and found it lying on the ground. If I had never died and recovered my body I never would’ve found it 😂
I have spent almost 20 years (D2 original and now D2R), and have multiple level 99 characters, and I am still missing a BER rune. Never found one. Not one. I have crafted one, but never actually found one.
it sucks but at the same time I feel this rarity and hunt is why some people still enjoy playing. I love gambling IRL so it kind of translates over to this game
For HRs (and any item in general), the amount of time you spend farming is much more important than the location you choose to farm. Play more = better items.
Not exactly… you can farm He’ll Meph without killing other things for months and you have allowed odds of finding a high rune than spending that time doing cow runs. Also, you can spend time farming NM and have 0 odds of finding a high rune. It’s not just about your play time - which is what you’re saying. Also items are based on item level, you literally can’t get some items by farming certain areas. Thanks for oversimplifying it though.
Great hint about the chests in lower kurast in the buildings near the camp fires - it’s always been my favorite place to farm but didn’t know about those chests 👍
I always get them in pairs. I'll grind for weeks and get nothing. Then I'll rush a friend randomly and find a Cham and Jah within 2 choas runs. Of course then I go back to grinding for weeks seeing nothing but mid runes.
I've found all my highest runes in games with friends. I think increasing the number of players in the game is the best thing you can do to find more runes.

Some important notes with cows is that it is also great for white bases. But also it is safe and it is very cheap and fast to farm with a javazon. The combination of density, speed, safety, and cheapness makes it so good for rune running.
Nice shit lol. Ive been trying to get a Lo for Grief. Have basically everything good except, no gore riders and Fort. I haven't seen anything official stating they have, but I'm already a few Ber runes in personally. Still played bnet up until recent pre d2r, and never had such luck.
I thought the same. I found a Vex from trash mob otw to Baal. Some runs after that i found Um and Ist at throne of destruction in between 5mins. Both solo NM On the other hand hell countess gave me Sol as highest so far (like 5-10 runs) so maybe it was just rly lucky rng

It‘s still superchests. So if you feel like it, by any means go. But compared to SP it‘s trash since the map is randomly generated so you need to search and take probably 3-4x as long as on a good SP map. Also no /players 8

My best rune drop so far has been 'Lem' .... but hey, at least I got myself a Mal rune through a trade. Still having a great time in D2R, it would be boring if it was all too easy and too quick =)
I feel you, my highest rune when finished the game was Lum :)) did a lot of meph and Andy, some pindles.. just Lum hah. Then I got pul, ko, lem from trades, and now, when trying to farm Baal, his minions dropped me a Ohm :)) so I'm very happy!
Not sure if it was stated yet, but you don't have to look for campfires. The superchests will always be in the huts that doesnt have a "entrance icon" - the yellow color - made it alot easier for me to brainlessly farm it than looking for a campfire
I found vex, lo, sur in lower kurast, and jah, zod and ber in the canyon of the magi popping skeletons. not a lot of ppl know about the canyon. one bad thing is that in D2R, the skeletons there are much harder to see.
i would like to suggest to new players that while hrs are hard to find, you can always farm smaller stuff and work your way up to having tons of hrs. runes go down in value steadily, and with shops up and running more will continue to enter the market. farm keys, make a gf barb, do anything that is a steady source on income and sell sell sell. it isnt quick, but by selling high and buying low you can easily build your dream character. it does take patience tho.
its very hard to do just starting fresh. You get one shot by everything. Immunes all over the place. Its not that easy. The keys are all in difficult areas to get to especially the nihiliak one, and he is pretty tough with corpse explosion
@@wildwest1832 difficult compared to what? A lot easier to do countess and summoner than meph and cows like the video suggests for hrs…plenty of easy ways to kill nith, redemption, natures peace ring, or just carry some juvs. I farmed over an enigmas worth of value from keys in 3 days. The most expensive item on my sorc is a wiz spike. It rly isn’t hard.
All the immunes make it very hard when you're fresh into hell with garbage gear. Been trying to beat hell on my amazon for a long time. When you don't find anything to improve your character how do you progress? I play offline console.
@@henley1438 nothing you can do about immunes, either skip them or use a secondary damage type. Hell is a much bigger jump in difficulty but the basics are the same. Max your resistances and get as much hp and damage as you can.
I know about skipping immunes but there are so many and my zon only has 1 dmg type. Just seems like everyone already has good gear to get past immunes. Like infinity. New players will probably never obtain anything like that.
I've had realitivly good luck doing countess, trav, pindle repeat. After 1000 runs I've ended up with the following runes (your mileage will vary) 2x Lo 2x Vex 1xJah 3xIst 5xMal 6xUm 24xKo 18xLum 12xPul and 8xFal, I should note that only 1 vex dropped from countess the other runes like the Ber and Lo dropped from the Trav counsel members. I also save all runes and upgrade them as tedious as that process is everything helps! Still missing Jah to make enigma but the search continues
True, but you need a pretty decent character to begin with if your doing hell trav runs. The end game areas are pretty rough to go through starting out until you have some decent stuff
@@wildwest1832 Absolutely to start with I would suggest playing in groups and just trying to get as high of level as possible. The gear will come slowly because you have to share with others and you may miss drops, Once you can complete countess runs it's game changing because you will eventually find what you need. I haven't put a ton of time in and I'm nearly level 91 now. Still no enigma Alas today today is another chance
The floaty guys in chaos and all souls/gloams have higher rune drop chances too. Worldstone keep can actually get pretty dense (plus chance to spawn souls & ghosts) so I've found quite a few of my hrs from there, but you need the gear for it of course.

Hey Mr. I just wanted to say thanks for feeding the curiosity of this wonderful community. I've played the game since release (I was 9 years old), and while I knew most of this kinda stuff intrinsically it's great to see a cool friendly face explain it so well for everyone. Keep on doin' whatchoo do, brother
I've been playing since a year after release, so I think I was about the same age as you. I was a dumb kid and bullshit a druid to 73 and hell, where I promptly got smashed over and over.
Mrllamasc and thr arreat summit have completely changed my game play and I pretty much walk through the game until act 3 nm. Bless this man. 🙏
you prolly blew a kiss back to him
Glad to see alotta people finally appreciate your content. D2 Ressurected is really a blessing, all your knowledge will be put to good use now! :)
"I'll put THAT to good use"
Man I just bought a zod it was like 98 cents
Dude just got better drops in 30 seconds than I've had since release of D2R...

Biggest piece of information for m was that runes aren't based in magic find. Thank you for that.

It’s all good guys. All you have to do to farm efficiently is play single player so you can fudge the odds! - Almost every D2 guide
Got a Cham rune in act 2 just playing through hell on my necro, didn't know I was supposed to be happy about it.
I thought Cham can only be found on Acts 4 and 5 ?
Yes i get so often at least Ohm and vex on the elite pack around shenk
I got a Zod in hell cows last week, first zod in my entire d2 career
Rushed a player on Hell, Hephasto dropped Gul and right after the forge dropped Gul too.
A nice double Gul from helping someone.

Most people can find hours to spend. It might just be more spread out, and take longer then for other people. Is it a race? Not really
i literally have found a Ohm, Sur and Lo in 1 week worth of playing. lol
I love how the intro text-to-speech pronounces the "LL" in Llama as "Y" (spanish).
What does it say anyway?
I can hear something like:
Arise, mister LSC. Your dust shall ... ??? / Your dust shoulder?

How to find high runes: Wait for the servers to actually be online for more than 30 minutes
This has been driving me crazy.

Haha wow. I just literally commented this
That and pray you don't rollback after finding one...rip vex and mara's i found last week.
Had a vex drop last night, my first decent rune drop! :)
Crankin out vids takin advantage of the huge amount of new players. Good shit man 👍
Best I've gotten so far is Sur, from mephs council and got a Lo from chaos sanctuary.
I got a sur off countesses cold immune minions!
Awesome video! I found a BER the other day while farming the Pits in Hell difficulty.
That is sick! Nice find.
Found Zod on hell cows last week, first zod in my entire D2 career
Travincal Council can only drop up to Cham. However, the drop rate for high runes on Council is amongst the highest in the game, second only to Ghosts or Wraiths. If you have a good Blizz sorc or a decent Zealer with Laying of Hands, it by far one of the most efficient places to farm for high runes. However, you'll probably have to do like 1000+ runs to have a good chance at one high rune or more. Council is also very good for charms and Rainbow Facets + gold for gambling.
So freaking cool that gambling isn't garbage now!
I run Pindleskin for money, he usually drop 35k items and you kill him within a second or two.
Solid advice right there.
Up to cham. So everything but zod lol

Gz. Found a jah and a sur in cow runs
How are you farming the Trav without any HR's that's my question. we all know most of the good spots, but how do you survive without the stuff you are looking for?
I've come back to this video several times during my rune hunting journey. And every time I see him get that Reaper's Toll on cow level it makes me want to cry :') Still haven't got my BIS merc weapon for my hammerdin so i'm just running insight at the moment.
I find it easier to just farm meph for popular items like HoZ, Shaco, Arachnid, and War Travs and just trade up for runes on Discord.
What is a good trading disc?
I farm meph as well - and actually had my two high rune drops come from him - got both a Jah and Ber.

Chaos, cow, any high level area. Kill everything and open them chest... do whatever is easiest for your character to clear.

*How to Actualy Find High Runes:* Playing the game for 20+ years to get a few, maybe.

Did they drastically increased the rune drops? we got so much crazy drops from day one on until now ...

Hey Mr.Llama, any chance you could put all these new D2R guides in a playlist, or add them to your existing D2 guides playlist? Like watching your stuff before bed, despite not having played D2 in like, a decade. The remaster looks pretty good though, just waiting to see what the devs plan to do for additional content if any.
What I’ve done just is created my own playlist with his videos, it’s pretty easy
What can drop in NM vs hell in cows? Also, is lower kurast good for online?
Lower Kurast is terrible for online. Do high council runs in Hell Travincal or Hell cows
Super chests are always worth it
It‘s still superchests. So if you feel like it, by any means go. But compared to SP it‘s trash since the map is randomly generated so you need to search and take probably 3-4x as long as on a good SP map. Also no /players 8
So is it worth doing lower kurast on multiplayer or just do cows (can’t do trav cause I’m a bliz sorc).
Does anyone know what NM cows can drop vs hell?

I thought you couldn’t play /players 8 in an online game solo. As far as I knew it was only available for offline play.
It is for offline single player only
The command only works in offline but online, actual players in the game will bring things to the same level
To find runes high, you must first go to the crack den of evil
The floaty guys in chaos and all souls/gloams have higher rune drop chances too. Worldstone keep can actually get pretty dense (plus chance to spawn souls & ghosts) so I've found quite a few of my hrs from there, but you need the gear for it of course.
And Storm Caster, Strange, Doom Caster,Doom Knight, Unique Boss
How to find high runes: Pull the lever a million times over several months
How to dupe high runes: dodge dodge avoid avoid evade evade the police police
20 years ago I dropped a Vex rune during a Diablo run in Hell on Diablo. That was the best rune I dropped without Hell forge quest.
