Spectacular video: thany you very much for your great work!!! Coal Mine Canyon is for sure a wonderful place to visit. A hike in this canyon is described in this book (very interesting for all fans of the Colorado Plateaus's geology): Ralph Lee Hopkins. Hiking the Southwest's Geology. Four Corners Region, 2002 (Hike 13: Coal Mine Canyon: Ghosts and Painted Spires). Unfortunately I live in Germany - very far away from wonderful Arizona. I appreciate the work of Codiac very much: for bringing Arizona 's wonderful landscapes to my screen!
Thank you so very much! I really appreciate your kind comments. The colorado plateau is the love of my life. It is such a pleasure to be able to share it with the world. I have a cousin that lives in Germany. They love it. I will have to find that book. Thanks again!!!
Nice video, and I love the Tacoma! I used my Taco to get in the back way to Arches NP recently on a 4x4 road, it's a fun start to a hike. Your video is good reminder that we can find beauty and adventure without having to flock to the same popular places.
Navajo Nation requires permits for the upper portion nearest the highway and Hopi Tribe requires a guide for the lower portion. Unfortunately no overnight camping in both areas
Awesome video! That place looks incredible 🤯🤯 Being that place in the reservation do you need a permit to visit or is it publicly accessible? The coloring in the rock is insane 😱🤯
Yes, you are supposed to get a permit off the Hopi website. Thank you for watching! I can't believe this canyon remains so unknown. It is an amazing place.
Great videos. I've been looking for others to do this kind of thing with, especially in Sedona. Would you be open to having others join you on those off trail adventures? I think i can keep up and it would be a great to be with someone knowledgeable about the terrain like yourself.
PLEASE be careful not to tread all over the cryptobiotic soils in those amazing dessert landscapes. It has taken them many years to form and they serve a multitude of purposes. Thanks!

wow so cool thx
An amazing place. Thanks for making me aware of it. How did you get permission to visit there?
You have to get a permit from website
@codiacstudios Yeah, it looks like you can get access to the rim from Navajo Nation but you need a Hopi guide to legally drop into the canyon.
@tompatton2086 We got permission from guide who couldn't make it last minute.
@@codiacstudios Looks like you had a great time without him. 🙂 Love your channel. Great content.
@tompatton2086 We sure did! Thank you so much!

I am definitely open to having others join me in my off trail adventures. Do you live around the Sedona area?
Those are Calcite crystals...we have them down here in the Anza Borrego State Park in San Diego County.
Is there a permit process?
Yes there is and it is not easy to get. From the Navajo Nation website.
I thought access was closed. Did you get permission? Are permits required? Did you need them?
Yes, we had permits. You are required to have a guide as well. We were able to go without one. Finding the place is another story lol

Yeah tell that to the cows
Sorry to ruin your day, but Coalmine Canyon is closed to non-Hopi without a guide. Might explain why so few people know about it.
We know. We had a guide set for the day and he had to cancel last minute. We got permission and had permits.
Well he did it anyway so cry about it.
@@outlawcountryman lol I love it
