43:15: Actually, all AoEs work like this. Enemy and ally based. I usually see it referred to as "propagation." Buffs/Damage/Heals have to propagate. I've died no small number of times due to being last in the propagation, due to being furthest away cuz I went for a positional or such.

There's an extreme example too with Echo's first TOP kill where they cleared because enrage propagation didn't reach those further from the boss
Idk about solo CNJ, but I do know that there are literally players still going as a lvl 90 CNJ and healing better than other healers.

Honestly IMO, if a fight can be done without a certain job, it shouldn't be considered as "the job shouldn't be needed", but that we managed to playfully break the rules in a game set on the holy trinity.

A guy named Lynx Kameli made a silly video on the "Downfall of FF14". This is from a player who skips the story frequently, has parents who will pay for everything so he never has to work in his life(IE; all the time in the world), and only cares about high tier content(Savage/Ultimate).
Beyond the bitterness and hyperbole, one particular meme is boiling down FF14's mechanics to "Stand and let thing resolve". It's a silly tactic to oversimplify something when there's more to it than that.

I remember doing the first nier raid with 23 other healers, it took over an hour, but it was pretty fun. Rescue PvP all the way.
I believe I was there, too! Or at least in another exact raid like yours. I don't remember which data center it was in, though, I've transfered to many others in all the years. But I think it was the Light data center in Europe... or Primal in America 🤔
Anyway, it was godlike and one of the most memorable runs i've had in ffxiv
I remember when Isgebind (final boss of Stone Vigil) used to be _really_ scary. She had way more difficult attacks and some of those ice puddles would persist and make dodging other attacks a real pain. Love this concept for an XIV challenge! Was entertaining watching you and your crew work through the dungeons.
isgebind is a joke now, I've made it my tradition to dance in the downtime of the fight because she's So Slow

@@abghen2323 Only one I know for CERTAIN is WAR although I heard someone in the same circle say it can be done on SCH, but I've not scene any proof on that myself. Plus it's believed that if the SCH solo vs Garuda can be done, it would require WAY too much RNG.
@@JustBIue WAR can solo almost everything as long as there isn't a specific group mechanic that kills it.
Just to clear up a thing about some of the tank busters:
Quite a few of the tank busters that oneshot people in these runs weren't "one shot", it was because the boss also had an auto attack queued to go out as the buster went out, but couldn't due to being locked in animation during cast.
Such as 27:25, you have 2612HP + shields, and the buster hits you for 2028 (and what the shield blocked), and then you die to an auto that hits for 695.
You also had a 10% mitigation from kerachole when taking the buster, compared to Lava Spike.
This means that WITH OR WITHOUT food, you would still have died.
The only thing that could've saved you would be a crit shield, or not taking an auto at the same time (very hard to control).

Instead of the enrage being proximity based it might also have been a ping thing where you just had the best ping so the attack reached you first, while some of the attacks from the other players with worse ping hadn't gone through yet
No, it's most of the aoes and enrages in the game have a ripple effect that goes from closest to furthest player

This reminds me a little of that time where I was doing all the Heavensward dungeons unsynced in 6.0, as a Bard with 2 other Bards, I can't remember why. All what I remember is that we almost gave up on finishing Sohm Al hard. IN we end we learned to mitigate damage better than the average tank and finished them all. I still want to know why I did something that horrible.
Its intresting to see the community actually crafting some creative ways of playing this game. I seen the overly simplifcation of this game over the years since ARR and now it looks like the community wants something more unique. I'm happy to see now that people are trying things that I already did in the past like running with a friend in dungeons as a duo group playing healers and healers taking on raids with the no level cap. Maybe yoshi p will break down some barriers that would allow the community to continue creative experiments like this one.

This was really interesting to watch, as a healer main. I didn't think there'd be too much struggle but Ultima's enrage was clearly more than I expected.
I don't think there's much else to stand between you and Heavensward. Crystal Tower, you'll have a critical mass of resses so no one thing should be a big deal. Primals don't really do anything either so you should be....

You can probably just stack eight WHMs and have infinite Presence of Mind for the tear phase. Maybe worth adding one AST for perma-Divination and three carded WHMs as well.
The main thing is min ilvl. Even crystal tower on min ilvl can wreck a group of average players with standard party construction. You're used to being synced to max ilvl and that makes all old content seem a lot easier than it actually is/was as now you need to actually do mechanics or get punished.
The seat of sacrifice and The endsinger might be tough since they require tank lb3. Seat of sacrifice can be cheesed with healers, dunno Ensinger might be cheesable too. The real problem will be Amoraut since it's the only MSQ instance I know that has a damage check.
Healer revives on impact and uses lb3 easy xD
And Amoraut is clearible with all tanks so why no all healers

As a seasonned casual player, I don't need any of the explanations about abilities, tank busters and such.
But as somebody that has seen interesting challenge videos of games I *do not* know, I vicariously appreciate that you went through the efforts for the viewers that don't play FFXIV. Thank you :)
Also, I'm still only at 20 minutes. But, for the next parts, don't hesitate to leave in some of your live reactions. Something like what happened at 16:04 or at 17:32 are a great way to break up the post-commentary in a fun and dynamic manner. (I've recently discovered Willjum, a youtuber that does Rust videos, a game I never touched with a stick, and that's how he does it and I find it enjoyable. Which inspired this "insight".)

slight correction, Art of War is only 150 potency before you obtain Broil Mastery, then it becomes 165.
It's still somehow a gain over Ruin 1 cause of auto attack strangeness, though.
Porta Decumana (Ultima weapon) is such a fun challenge run. My friends and I did a challenge run with only dps.
2 summoners and 2 dragoons.
It didnt take us nearly as long and wasnt as difficult as four healers but it was the best run.
The two summoners were just spamming Physik and were in charge of rezzing. With practice we could get our energy drain and festers in between physick just to pump extra damage. But it benefitted everyone for the dragoons to focus damage. To help with that we learned that it was better for the group if the two summoners alternated every tank buster. It was better that we died and took weakness debuff instead of the dragoons doing dps. The biggest challenge for us summoners was mana management. The biggest challenge for us funnily enough was the raid wides. "Tank Purge." For a healer its easy to just drop aoe heals but as summoner, each raid wide required multiple physicks for each person after each raid wide.
Us summoners barely got to do our summoning rotations lmao. You could maybe get a garuda out and use its four quick gcd spells, but doing ifrit's to long casts were basically risking somebody's death.
So juggling tank busters, raid wides, the meteors, and rezzing with no mana, and doing next to no gcd damage as summoner, made it the best fight ever.

Man, I feel like this would have been easier back in the day, at least with what i remember of White Mage. DPSing wouldve DEFINITELY been easier when we had Cleric Stance. I remember the damage being really high back then lol. And Protect and Stoneskin wouldve helped the Tanks for sure. Kinda miss those old skills
At least Back in SB, healer only runs of normal difficulty stuff were kinda Common ime. Not so much these days.
KOU!!! did you forget in ARR-HW-SB boss have what is called random buster,, as someone who has been playing tank since HW that random buster is a pain, since there is a chance it can crit and when it crit it hit REALLY hard on tank, so tank actually need to see the boss attack pattern
On Ultima, it's not a target proximity enrage, you died because of server ticks. Because of how the game is built, everything happens when the server says it happens, not when the client says it happens like most MMOs. it's what causes a lot of problems with the game like the "I'm not in this aoe, why am i dead?", or the classic "I used benediction on a corpse". It used to be way worse back in the days for europeans because our servers were in canada if my memory is correct (Titan hard and extreme were WAY harder because of it).
Anyhow, the server said it was enrage time and as it didn't receive any damage info that would reduce the boss' hp to 0, started sending to the clients the info that it was enrage time, player after player. it started with you for reasons I don't know (maybe you were the closest to the server's location or it's an internet speed matter, idk), then sent it to the next player. BUT as it was doing that, the server recieved damage info from some of the clients and concluded the boss was dead. So it started the victory animation.
This was an absolute trip to watch. I was thinking "how are they gonna get past the Ultima enrage?" and thought maybe I was just stupid for thinking it was impossible with only healers, little did I know...
Also it's so much fun to watch retrospectives on ARR, I feel like a lot of the fandom just remembers it for the slow filler sections but it's actually probably my second favorite MSQ besides Heavensward. (which I'm REALLY looking forward to your healer version)

as a healer main, this was such a fun watch! i've started to dip into other roles too, mostly because my main was over-leveled for where i am currently am in MSQ (shadowbringers), running around as a level 83 scholar is a bit sad.
would be so down to experiencing a raid with only healers though, that legitimately sounds like a good time.
The running strategy was genius. And i am very proud of sacrificing myself for the key.

I did this in another game 10y ago. I made an entire healer guild and did healer only dungeon runs. It was super fun, til we started charging in game currency for experienced healer runs thru dungs and the devs inboxed me in game asking us to stop. Large scale PVP was fun and hilarious as well. It's still the most fun I had in a MMO and I didn't know I can do this in FF14. I will absolutely do this and love this challenge. Please keep going with this, I'd love to join you on this as a new player to FF14 (only beat ARR so far).

I wonder if you could cheese the fights that require tank lb3 by allowing BLU using healer mimicry. Although you would probably have to put limitations on the spell list to keep it in the spirit of the challenge
The enrage in the is (most likely) not proximity based. Most (if not all) aoe abilities in FF XIV do not damage/heal all targets at once, but rather one target after another in short succession.
A good example is the megaflare transition on Nael, where you can see your party heltbars go down one by one. Same with healing aoes.

I noticed a lot of attacking immediately after a raise. I guess some players might not be aware that you are granted a short immunity to all damage after raising, assuming you do nothing but move. The loss of DPS for not attacking is much less than the loss of DPS for dying a second time...

Actually, Art of War's potency is 150 from lvl 46-53, then it gets upgraded to 165 at lvl 54. That said, the auto-attack is still no joke and makes the job very competitive to WHM's Stone II.
the day before endwalker was released, someone put on duty finder "The tower at paradigm's breach" party for only healers, and it was till this day the most fun i had in this game since i started playing, took us an hour and some to finish it but it was worth it

Interesting challenge. In the end in FFXIV, the enrage is the only mechanic that really matters and doing healers only is simply trying to reach that is the main issue. The upside is as content continues, you get a lot more OGCD healing buttons. Sadly you can never beat all the content with healer only like the newer ultimates because it's impossible to meet the enrage requirements, but I'd be interested to see if you can do all the dungeons and ex trials healer only min IL. Good video!
Min Ilvl, many of the EX trials, savage, and ultimates would definitely be a no. Some of them have rather tight DPS checks, even with a normal party, at min ilvl. Older ones *might* be possible, but it would be iffy at min ilvl: healers don't really have the DPS boost that other jobs do from having their overall toolkits adjusted, as they have so few actual DPS abilities. However, if you turned off min ilvl, but were still synced, quite a number of those fights would probably be doable.
That being said, DPS checks/enrages would basically be the only real limiting factor for these fights. Tank busters wouldn't matter much, since even if a player or two die from the busters, you have 6-7 rezzes available.
*That* being said, I don't think the entire MSQ can be done healer-only, due to Seat of Sacrifice. I believe that is the only non-optional fight to complete the MSQ that requires a level 3 tank LB.
a good way to use the healer lb 3 is have one of the healers or 2 be dead before a big enrage attack then lb3 before it goes off you will die but everyone else will res

as sch main, i can confirm in ARR if u use art of war and auto atack with the book it gives around a 15% dps boost.
Fun watch. You _will_ eventually hit what is probably a strict hard wall, though. I don't really remember if the mechanic shows up before then, but 5.3's trial and the final trial of EW both have mechanics where you need a tank LB3 to have _any_ chance of survival. I suspect the only way you'd be able to get through those otherwise is to have someone _intentionally_ die, and then get rezed right before the ability goes off and skip it using the rez immunity, then healer LB3 to get everyone else back up. If that even works, which is may not, and the timing on it will be fiddly as hell anyway.
I mean you’ve got a party of healers if their actually good at their job at least you won’t die might just take a while to finish anything, plus that first dps check might fuck you hard….
Honestly, what might be harder is "all class (no Job stone) run". Did Zodiark Ex (yes, Extreme) in 6.1 with only classes, and it's rough. You don't have scaling passed level 50 since all spells after 50 (and half from 30-50) are Job, and so are traits above 50. So no spell upgrades passed...Stone 2 and Aero 2. And you. Never. Get. Holy - Holy is a WHM only thing. : ) And you don't have other healers, because no other Jobs (and only WAR and GLD for tanks).
You want rough - class only runs, despite having roles like tanks and DPS, are probably even harder. Though hey, you're doing the 8-Bit Theater thing, so I respect that. :D
I actually tried to do this in the Free Trial, playing from Level 1 MSQ to the last Stormblood MSQ quest in 4.55 as a White Mage(since you can't get any other healer before Level 30 but Conjurer)... but I got bored at Level 5 and deleted my character. Thanks for playing White Mage for me so I can see how difficult it is, especially if all dungeons and trials must be done in MINE. ;)
Right now I plan on doing a challenge run to see how early I can get Reaper. I got Reaper on my main halfway through Heavensward, but I wanted to see if I can get it before I finished A Realm Reborn. Wish me luck. ^_^
Having good mit/shields for busters makes the busters survivable. 19% with shield is more than enough to survive those busters.
on the ultima clear most enrage works like that you die later when farther from the boss (but it's only like 0.1 sec difference kinda :D) (i'm not a big raider bug i've seen a lot of enrage during my time :D)

Honestly, other than DPS checks, healers don't have problems. "But tankbusters" - UNLIMITED. RAISES. :) No encounter in the game is chaining tankbusters faster than you can (with a little organization) chain Swiftcast Raise with a full party of healers. 24 mans have been done without them, a few patches ago I did Manalis (when it was highest dungeon) as all tanks, all dps, and all healers, and the all healers was the easiest. So the only stuff where it's a problem are things with enrages...which you could always just do an expansion later (since none are MSQ)
Im a scholar main and when a tank buster flies in, by default, I cast an adlo.
Usually no dmg comes through on a tnk.
Might be a little different on healers but damn this looks fun XD

l personally appreciate the fact that healers in ff14 can't do everything by themselves, which means that Tanks and DPS are actually relevant to play as.

I remember people doing the Nier raids (during Shadowbrings, at level 80, same as the raid), with groups of only healers. Never did it myself, but some friends of mine did get in on the action. It must have been a lot of fun, I'm sure.
But on the other end of the spectrum, The Omega Protocol (Ultimate) was recently-ish cleared with no healers. And now that I think about it, one really has to ask, what is the point of job roles any more. I really think that if classes would be given a bit more flexibility, maybe reintroduce cross-job skills, you could have anyone, to a degree, do anything, and just focus around designing the "class fantasy", as it were.

During the final Alexander fight, you're faced with a move that, unless a tank uses LB, it's a guaranteed party wipe. I know Alexander isn't MSQ, but would you still be doing it? How will you overcome it?

Back in ARR, i used to be able to tank as a WHM. It was unorthodox, but entirely doable.
you can, for sure, will just take forever. Except savages/extremes/ultimates, since those have enrage timers.
Imagine if SCH still had actual pets. Back at 60 when Overhealing would generate extra threat, Fairy tanking trial bosses and alliance bosses was very possible.
You won't catch me doing this to myself in ffxiv.
If you weren't autoing the bosses, you may want to consider doing that! It adds up to a lot of extra damage on scholar especially
Autoing is free damage, after all!
I'd imagine the chrysalis is impossible. Tank soaks and a tight enrage that's usually lb'd through.
I wonder if you were using POM on constant cooldown with WHM? WHM can be green DPS, but then again, pre-glare WHM, I'm not so sure

Not my usual content but I liked the video and you made it farther than I thought you would. I do have a minor nitpick about the video, and I only noticed it because it was something I also struggled with in the past, that I think would improve the quality of your speech and videos if you learn to correct it. You frequently use the word "more" as an adverb to enhance an action or another adjective such as "more better, more tougher, or more faster." More should only be used to enhance a noun, such as "I need more games, or I like tanks more", or after a verb, such as "I wish I played more." If you want to enhance the action then replace the word More with Much, such as "Much better, much tougher, or much faster."

But if I could make a suggestion, anothsr good rule to add would be taking rez off your hotbars XD taking busters on all healer parties just isn't as threatening when everyone in the party can rez through it. Unless you're doing fights with actual damage checks which are extremely rare outside of EX+
Imo all tank runs are much more interesting than all healer, just for the reason that every death is permeant for the encounter ......I may have to steal this idea but with all tanks XD

i remember doing zodiark ex with a full healer team the same week it dropped (or thereabouts). outside of bad timing busters were survivable; we even managed to figure out how to move aggro haha. we were able to barely pass adds but couldn't pass enrage.
Healer lb3 cures weakness, so it's not completely useless in the Ultima damage check.
Now you're giving a reason for those huge time limits in dungeons.

man idk who told you ast is good for 4 healers, its a buff job with the least personal dmg, it's value shines with selfish jobs/burst jobs, not with 3 other healers, this would have been much easier with 2whm 1sge 1sch😭but damn hell yah you killed it

Personally I would've recommended crafted gear for level 50 and not the blue unique gear. Pentamelded some crafted gear has better stats than instance gear. The real problem would've been finding an omnicrafter on that server because most healer gear is a mix of weaver, leather and carpenter.

Haha, when I lived in Seoul, my SO surprised me with a bunch of crunky bars and I made a little castle out of them. They’re from Lotte brands which is Korean. Tasty, too!
