Just bought an older fishing boat with this Lowrance model. Thanks for the video. Just realized you're a young adult now since this video. Hope you're keeping well and thanks again for the lesson Trevor.
Even though my comment is 2y after this, I just wanted to say that you are now my NEW go-to for understanding these electronics. You're well beyond your age in maturity with your explanations and precision. I will be coming back to your site for your fishing progress. Keep your head on straight, head held high, and a smile on your face and you will go very far in your professional and personal life. I would be honored to hear from you through DM or messenger. Good Luck and GODSPEED Trevor. 😊
I just wanted to say "Great Job for saving up your own money to by something like the Lowrance Elite 7 HDI". Saving money at your age is a hard thing to do - your doing it - your way ahead of the curve. Plus, your putting these videos out. You must be doing something right in life. Keep up the good work!
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
Thanks young man - just bought my Lowrance Elite 7 HDI graph. Still getting use to it. I fish Kentucky Lake often. Good luck in your fishing tournaments. GOD BLESS!
Excellent video young man. You were precise in the operation of this unit. So many people think we can just guess how to or assume we know what they are talking about . One on the water will be terrific. Thanks
Lowrance should hire this kid . Love the clowns don’t want to make negative comments because the kids at least saving his own money and trying to show people what’s going on .Keep it up kiddo
Thanks for commenting, all it came with was the regular gps map, but if you want to have better maps then you need a chip like a navionics or lowrance hot spots insight chip.
Is there a way on the gps to make it automatically track your position at all times so you don't have to follow your 'vessel' on the map as your driving? Thanks for the video and info
Could you explain why Lake Erie had depths on display but the first lake you showed had no depth markers... how could you go about getting depths on those smaller lakes?
I bought this unit back in Oct '13 and purchased the Navionics Gold chip for it. When I use the built in GPS the map zooms in and out almost instantly, but when I insert the Navionics chip and start using the map it zooms in and out very slowly (lag). Any suggestions on what may be the issue?
NO a waypoint is not saved as a waypoint it's saved as a navigation point which can not be re named. if you save a separate waypoint it can be renamed but it's really complicated to use it in a route. it's a big failing of the set. I spent 20 year's as a navigating officer, this is the most complicated piece of kit I've ever used.
Out of all the people I watched trying to explain this you are the best

Great Video! Did the unit come with any mapping program like lake insights, hot spots, etc

How do u get the different depths showing on your unit when you have the screen showing the body of water?

Good job

Good video buddy Just bought an elite 5 hdi was looking for some operating video thanks do most my fishing on the north shore lake Erie
Smallies in the lake and largies in the bay, I have a divisional tourney there in a few weeks.
sweet. me and my brother are saving up that same depth finder
nice... looking into gettin one of these myself and this realy helped me alot... great work mate.
We should head out to hopatcong one day dude!
Can co-ordinates be typed in this unit to put a way point
The way to make the screens over the top of each other is click pages and then hit menu and it will show
Lake Erie? Smallmouth? Walleye?

No im sorry i dont have experience with Navionics. Is it still usable or is it like too slow to even deal with?
it's usable but there is a significant change in zooming in and out but I guess due to all the points and etc that comes with it.
how are you liking your unit?
Mark Beams I like the unit a lot, i used it a ton this season and havent had problems with it.
Awesome we got a point 1 with it for Christmas so we're eager to try that out as well
you need to get a navionics chip for lake contours...
Can you rename a way point later on?
Yes, anytime you can go in and rename/edit any way point really easily.

Good job working to get your reward!!!!
I have the same graph in the front of my boat. And just to warn you, the topo lines are not accurate at all
contour maps make all the difference…. about 100 bucks…
Good Luck,
Gary at Lake Fork
Ik!! or greenwood i have a tounrey there on aug 3rd looking for a partner..
Lat is verticals......long is horizontal.....
Sounds like you've already learned how to work hard . . . NOW go play hard!
this guy likes pushing buttons but has obviously never used a plotter to navigate with.
Better off learning to use first and make video later.
