Thanks for the 2 part series. I recently added a FS 9 to my console and have it ethernet linked to an older HDS 7 Gen3 at the bow. The training was a great refresher, as I had Elite Ti's on my previous boat. I hadn't changed settings and such on my previous units, so there were a lot of things I couldn't remember how to do. For instance, I couldn't remember how to automatically remove the menu bar after 20 seconds. Thanks again.

We rent our boat out on BoatSetter, and I wanted something that would be user friendly, but also has Auto charting where it would avoid hazards and low-tide impasses. We mostly trailer to Crystal River, FL. Anyone who has ever boated in this area knows that it's great boating..... At high tide! But at low tide, your route will need to change or you will be calling for a tow back to the launch and replacing a lower unit!

Great tutorials. I have 2 elite fs9's connected and am running a navionics platinum plus at the console, but the bow graph won't show the chart from the console. Any ideas what to do?
Where do I see setting track to follow on the way home? You said you would do that in 2nd video?
Great series my friend. Just picked up an FS 9 for the back of my charter boat. Is there a way to turn off the options menu on the right side of the screen while you are in sonar mode. It takes up almost 20% of the screen and I would love to make it go away like I can on my Simrad Go9.
Yes there are 2 different ways to do it. You can either just touch your finger to the menu and swipe it to the right, or you can go into the Settings -> System -> Advanced -> and then it's the option above "Features". Can't remember what it's called. (Im at work right now lol) And you will then see an option to turn on for the menu slider bar that will allow it to clear off the screen after 10 seconds of not using it.

Vidoes have been extremely helpful thanks! I have been able to download Genesis social maps to SD but the unit wont recognise them. They are in the right format with the five files in each folder and SD is formatted to FAT. Any help wold be great? Thanks
I think the problem is that you still have them in the folders. With some of these displays, they will only let you have one social map per SD card.
You still going to do a training video for CHARTS?
Definitely want to see how you format the memory card, mine says dcim right now
It's actually really easy. Just put your sd card into your computer and then go into your files. You will see the D: or E: drive listed on there for your SD card. You just simply right click on the drive and you will see an option to format it. Once you do make sure it's set to FAT32 and format it. Tho keep in mind, it will delete everything off the card so save any files off of it that u might have first.

Does the Elite FS 9 require a module box for the 3 in 1 transducer to work?
No it does not. It plugs strait into the 9pin black port on the back of it.
If i have my sonar on High chirp the down scan and side scan won't work on my FS 9. how do i get the downscan and side scan to work when the Sonar is on high chirp? thanks
Correct, something I'm one of these last software update I believe caused this. I'm not sure why they have it set up like that but unfortunately it will not let you do chirp and SS at the same time.
You have got to be the person to ask…I need to install the transducer backwards, is there a setting to flip left/right and up/down on my FS7? Thank you
There is for structure scan. For traditional sonar it does not matter its orientation. It will read no matter what.

Can you please clarify why older hook reveal has better transducer than new elite fs?? Hook reveal with hdi transducer 50/200khz, will perform better in the deep waters because of its 50 khz, vs elite fs 7, .. does the 3-1 transducer on elite fs read 50khz?? frequencies....due to this Im planning to return my elite fs 7
The hook reveal with the 50/200 is a pretty rare package. Don't see that very often. But the AI 3n1 transducer is an 83/200 not a 50/200. You could get a 50/200 hdi transducer for the Elite FS however. The FS does have a more powerful 600W processor and would be and to broadcast a 50 khz signal further and clearer
Or maybe I should say it comes with the 83/200 3n1 with it. It's always possible that a random dealer has a custom kit that comes with a 50/200 that I havnt seen before tho.
I have a y connection for my transducer on my console fs7 do I need to pick 3 n 1 transducer on my installation screen on leave it unknown
What 2 transducers do you have connected via the Y cable
If it's am AI 2n1 and a traditional sonar transducer you can select the 3 n 1.
@@nightanddaymarine8823 ok what will an ai 2n1 read on the tag. Is that what rt 2 on my tag means
@@nightanddaymarine8823 is the y cable just to separate the pins on the plug so that the 2 d sonar can come from one place and the side and down scan can come from the 3n1 on the back if so I think I can pick ai 3n1 on my setup and the y cable will do the rest

@@markvogus8063 Pretty much, yes. A lot of ppl will put their sonar in their hull and the structure scan on the back so they can maintain bottom at higher speeds.

Great video! I have the Lowrance Elite fs9 and somehow all my waypoints have the display name on and clogging up my chart. They were off and just showed the icon. Is there a setting to shut off the display names on the chart all at the same time?
That's really odd... im not sure why it would not have been showing them before. Did you recently update it? When you create a new waypoint and select 'More Options' of if you go into the waypoints, routes, and trails settings menu and click on a waypoint, over on the right, it gives you the option to select, Display Icon and Name, Display Icon Only, or Hidden and see what is selected and change it if need be. Altho as far as I know, you can only edit them one at a time. I havnt seen a way to adjust them all at once.
And if you change it to Display Icon Only, all future waypoints will be Icon only. It just won't change the existing ones.
Thanks for the reply. I did a back up thru the wifi and the Lowrance app and the next day the issue happened. I fish Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend in Texas and need a boat lanes software to navigate thru the submerged timber. This software has over 1400 waypoints and the needed trails. I removed the boats lanes and waypoints and reinstalled fresh with the same results. I can change each waypoint to remove the name, but was hoping for a faster way. It's been a long week trying to figure this out. Lowrance doesn't have a contact email or phone number to call right now.

Correct. You do not want it on when on the water.
How do you network 2 FS 9 together
There are a couple different ways of doing that. The easiest way is with an ethernet cable which plugs into the yellowish orange plug in the back of the display. You can also network them with a NMEA 2K network as well.

dont you have to turn off the simulator? its just training mode right?
Yes you do not want it on when your on the water. Altho simulator isn't always on. But if it is turn it off after uv set everything up. And make sure demo mode is ALWAYS Off.
I'm trying to figure out, when I'm editing overlays and configuring each item, why, if I choose larger sizes, do they seem to get cut off. Only small and smaller with display fully.
How do you mean by cut off exactly?
Like it's not displaying the bottom half of the overlay or one of the sides?
@@nightanddaymarine8823 That's exactly what I mean, like it doesn't fit inside the box.
@@martyepperly5803 maybe do a reset on the display. I havnt ever seen one do that before.
