UFO is an English band, but yes Michael Schenker is German and joined UFO in 1973 and left in 1978 with guest-visits from 1993 to 2003. Phil Mogg is the awesome lead-singer… totally all over the register and you can hear every word he sings making this song a masterpiece 👌🏻❤️😃
Strangers in the Night is one of the greatest live albums ever!!! Lights out is a killer track. Also Iron Maiden is influenced by them and have the songs on before they come out to play live.
Schenker is one of the best guitarist. IMO. No one sounds like him. This album dont have a bad song on it. Strangers in the Night would be a great mix to react too. UFO is so Underrated. They never got huge in the States. The Michael Schenker Group has been around since the early 80's and Michael is still releasing great material today.
@Izzi Michaels , I saw UFO and AC/DC on the 23rd of November 1977 at the Coliseum in Knoxville TN. They were co-headliners, and on that night AC/DC played second, after The Motors and before UFO, and both UFO and AC/DC kicked ass, still one of the best concerts I've ever attended.
Fantastic British band. Michael Schenker is one of the greatest guitarists of all time and their live album is considered by many (including me) to be the best live album of all time.
UFO is from England. The guitarist, Micheal Schenker, is from Germany. I went to see these guys in 1977 because of this song opening for a band I'd never heard before, Rush. Rush became my favorite band during that show.
I was working in a record store in the early 80's and Phil Mogg came in at 2 in the afternoon, falling down drunk with a lady on each arm. He bought a load of blues albums and left. At 9pm the same day he was perfectly fine and sang wonderfully through their entire set.
@Izzi Michaels, While Covenant and Sharks are good albums, they just aren't on the same level as those previously mentioned, at least not in my opinion.

My favourite is No heavy petting, one of the most overlooked! The first Schenker era (the 70's) and the second Schenker era (the 90's) are the peak of this legendary band. All the rest is worth a listen too of course, but with Schenket they peaked in everything!
UFO is a British band. Michael started In the Scorpions with his brother Rudolph. I believe he was 16 at the time. This is way before the scorpions become famous. He played lead guitar on UFO’s most famous albums, lights out being the best known. He left them in 1979 and started his own band, MSG. You should check them out.
I agree that it is one of the best live albums . However , 45 years after listening to them i have concluded that many of their early studio albums have a lot of great versions of their songs
I was big UFO fan in the late 70's when I was in high school. They rose above much of the metal mediocrities at the time. I'm sure others have spoken of this but they were Brits, except for Schenker.
Incredible band! Lights Out is a great one but their Live album is legendary! Michael Schenker is a GUITAR GOD!! Wait to you hear more from this band. "Love To Love" is one of my favorites from them but...man oh man...wait until you hear the live version of "Rock Bottom". Ugh....incendiary only begins to approach THE FIRE.

They did not have violins on this song. That is their keyboard player providing that gorgeous accompaniment! In fact, that's one of the great things about UFO: they had one of the most Metal guitarists in Michael Schenker, one of the best vocalists in Phil Mogg, an outrageous Bass player named Pete Way, a great drummer named Andy Parker but also this great, tasteful keyboardist named Paul Raymond (who also played rhythm guitar)! The had the total package! The "Strangers In The Night" live album will give you a ton to "deep dive" on, trust me!
sorry, Michael, but i don't believe you! 😊 that would be the most amazing 'keyboard orchestra' i'd ever heard. and especially so for 1977. nothing at all against Paul Raymond's brilliance, or your own enthusiasm for his craft, but that is a real orchestra on this track. prove me wrong? cheers.
@@ericpottersadventuresinsou1146, you are right! I just checked and they did add string and horn arrangements on Love to Love. Paul Raymond's keys were also there but there are strings on the song. I stand corrected! Thank you!
Hey Nick N Lex. Glad you got around to UFO. Great band from my teen years. Michael Schenker's brother Rudy is the rhythm guitarist for the Scorpions. Very happy you enjoyed this song and they have many more. Keep up the good work.

I discovered UFO in early 1980 when I was learning guitar. Schenker totally blew my mind. UFO was so killer with this lineup. This brings back so many memories.
It's been said that Michael Schenker wrote the most epic ,perfect solo of all time thru this song.Especially when listened to live ,on Strangers In The Night. As a solo artist ,he remains at 70 ,the finest ,fastest ,and creative artist ever.
You made my day. UFO, they are amazing. That several have already written, the livealbum Strangers in the nigth is one of the best album ever. Keep on rocking and have a nice weekend :)
UFO got very little radio play other than college stations back in the day so no surprise you have not bumped into them. A huge influence band cited by members of Def Leppard, Iron Maiden and Metallica amongst others. Michael Schenker is a guitar god, Phil Mogg the vocalist and primary song writer & only original member as of 2019. A GREAT rabbit hole to enter....
I saw UFO in Yuma Az live late seventies early eighties . we jammed to all there albums on eight track and cassete in our cars. Still great music now I just blue tooth it to my home mega stereo from you tube and it is great again!
15 years old, standing in a field at the Reading festival, the lights go down, the opening of this song plays, in the dark it seems to feel colder for some reason- the song builds and as they hit the line of 'misty green and blue', blue and green spotlights hit the tons of dry ice they'd pumped into the field. Memories you just don't forget.
This was and still is a Love song for my wife and I. When we were girlfriend & boyfriend, we broke up several times before getting it right. We saw UFO as the opening band for Foghat in concert in Chicago 1977.
UFO was way ahead of their time. They blew me away back in the 70`s and I will be a fan for life. Their reunion album WALK ON WATER is epic and a masterpiece. I highly recommend it!! Also their live album STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT is fantastic. This band deserves more exposure even though some members have passed away. They wrote some of the best rock music ever and it should not be over looked. Thank you for reacting to them.
These guys go way back to the 70’s. A killer guitarist back when guitar solos were mandatory! I saw them with Blue Oyster Cult. Btw I am a splitting image of the guitarist in the Scorpions. I wish I could play like him! 🎸
I've seen UFO with Chapman and later with Schenker. The first gig was brilliant, the second was one of the best I've ever seen, Schenker went off piste for couple of minutes on love to love, it was like being hypnotised, incredible.
UFO is terrific. I saw them live around 1978. Strangers in the Night is one of the greatest live albums and you should very much enjoy going down the UFO rabbit hole. BTW, their first two album are more space rock but they became a hard rock band with some excellent ballads. They are still around but the singer talked about leaving before Covid but now it looks like they may stay together, at least for the time being.
Michael Schenker is one of the most influential guitarists who still is pretty unknown to the public. People know the players he has influenced but you get blank stares when talking about him. BTW he is the Scorpions' Rudolf Schenker's "little" brother, and had multiple stints at his older brother's band. I like both of them but I enjoy Michael's playing more. He's still going BTW, he's had multiple bands, most of the time it was the Michael Schenker Group, but there also was McAuley Schenker Group, Michael Schenker's Temple of Rock and similar iterations. They're worth listening to as well.
Favorite album is there 2nd album force it shenkers guitar tone is the best I've heard from any guitarist.my favourite guitar solo from this album is actually from the ballad try me.
Awesome song choice. This is the UFO that I'm a major and complete fan of. I have no idea how I first discovered them, but it was in the late '70s. I was a young preteen brat, and my brother is three years older than me. But one of my brother's friends (and neighbor) had a much older brother that indirectly introduced me to Rush, and probably UFO. He would play his music loud and I was hooked. I would thank him if it were possible! 👍 If I may add, Rush is the best, but everybody reacts to them. Don't stop!!! But more UFO, please!😆
The band is English but their former kick ass guitar player Michael Schenker is German. Thanks for covering this awesome band. I just wanted to add that we understand why you pause. Better safe than sorry and it would stink to have to delete a reaction that you worked so hard to record and edit. We enjoy your videos too much to lose you guys.
My suggestions for future UFO reactions: Rock Bottom, Lights Out, Cherry, Only You Can Rock Me, Doctor Doctor, Mother Mary, Too Hard to Hot to Handle, Space Child or I'm a Loser. You cannot get wrong the a version from Strangers in the Night or just about any song off the Strangers live album.
Their bassist Pete Way just recently passed away... was a huge influence on Steve Harris and Nikki Sixx... was friends with Geddy Lee...UFO was a big influence on Metallica as well... They were from the UK except Michael Schenker... You should definitely check out the entire Lights Out and Obsession albums. Also Michael's solo work with his band MSG is also great. Michael has fantastic taste and bends like no one else.
Don’t be so hard on yourselves, now you get to discover new music at your young ages that you will enjoy your entire lifetime. Wait until you delve into UFO’s catalog, it will rock your world.
Rock your world is right, best unheard band of the last 50 years! Saw them 6 times, 4 with Michael Schenker on lead, once with Paul Chapman (the 4 albums he's on are also killer) and once with Vinnie Moore. They were always a tremendous show, some of the best I ever saw. 😎
Yeah, you can't know every single band there is. Especially in pre-Internet times it was a mere question of luck which band came to your attention. And I say that not only because I grew up listenting to Michael/McAuley Schenker Group without knowing that UFO even existed ;)
@@saschaschneider6355 my musical journey was mostly because of the influence of my friends and family. I discovered a lot of bands well after their debut albums. I think the only bands I remember hearing when they first hit the airwaves were Boston, Foreigner and Van Halen.
@@rcdolphin714 same here. I've listened to MSG because a good friend one day came over with a CD. I've started listening to DIO because I've seen a best-of album at a local store and liked the cover art... I didn't even know that RJD was the same guy who had taken over from Ozzy in Sabbath. Pre-Wikipedia days were weird.
First off, this is my first time seeing one of your reactions, and I am impressed. I like what you have to say. You seem thoughtful, open minded and knowledgeable enough to comment intelligibly on a lot of heavier music. I will have to check out more reactions.
Great Briish band You must listen to Rock Bottom some prefer the live version but the epic studio one for me shows all of Michael Schenkers huge talent in all its glory with no fancy add ons or showing off to the crowd
Great reaction to a great classic. The lead guitar player here was the original lead guitar player from Germany for the Scorpions in the early 70's. I had the good luck to see this song live in the Chicago in the late 70's. Very cool. Good catch about the Tubular Bells reference.
How did I miss this? I'm starting to think ya'll been digging thru my albums. You discover so much of what shaped my tastes and appreciation for what moves me. Lights Out is one ive cranked to 11 soo many times. Personally, I think was their hiatus. Ya'll rock!
I first heard this back in 1979. I was blown away!!! It inspired me to play guitar and now I am a very accomplished guitar player. I love UFO. I recommend you listen to UFO LIVE STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT. Please react to rock bottom from that album.
They were popular in the mid late 70ts and in the 90ts reformed a couple of times if I remember , different phases over the years , Micheal Shenker was a very good guitarist . songs like Doctor Doctor and the like .I remember rockin out in my 66 GTO to this ...lol
The times you're referring too, sound like the times Shenker was with them but they were around since the early 70s and still active today. There are also a couple of good albums from Mogg-Way (singer and bass player) which could not be called UFO for legal purposes it's my understanding, but I am no expert.
@@VinE83656 Yes I listend to them a fair amount in say 1970 -78 period , so am most familiar to that era , Some of the Savoy Brown guys played with them also , don't know much about later eras .Moog and Way formed the group as hocus Pocus and changed the name to UFO in 69 or 70 . They were another one of those hard rock we listen to , could never hold a candle to Blue Oyster Cult though ...lol
@@lawrenceburchett7411 I like Blue Oyster Cult too, great band., especially the early albums. I’ve seen them both live but UFO just after Shenker left UFO. I wasn’t crazy about either band as much in the 80s. UFO later stuff was a return to form for me and has been very solid since.
My all time fav track - Love UFO, classic British heavy rock (with a touch of German genius from Schenker), seen them many times live and always awesome (RIP Pete Way & Paul Raymond - lost both these guys too soon :( )
The definitive version of this song is on their live album from 78 Strangers In The Night. Michael Shenkers solo is longer and more intense. Next do ROCK BOTTOM from that epic live album.
Scorpions were the foundation of UFO and MSG (Michael Schenker Group) Rudolf & Michael Scenker formed Scorpions . UFO, Technically a British rock group, started around 1969 - Michale Schenker joined them in 1973 for their most productive period. This album (1977) also had hits "Too Hot to Handle" and the title cut "Lights Out"!
Saw them in 82 on the Mechanix tour with Saxon... no Schenker... saw Schenker with Ratt in 1990 in San Antonio, TX at the Japanese Sunken Gardens... LA Guns also played that night
I grew up in the SF Bay Area in the 1970’s and 80’s. They had a concert series called “Day On The Green.” I went to several of them. I saw UFO, Gamma, Santana, REO Speedwagon & Journey. I had no idea that UFO even played this song. I was pretty wasted at the time and was there primarily to see Journey. I saw other bands at Day On The Green such as Toto, The Tubes,
Wow! This song blew my away! Very sad i have never heard of these guys! Nick i 100 percent heard tool in parts of this song. Especially the portions where the bass and guitar are bouncing off each other! Great video! Appreciate you both so very much!
Hello guys Michael Schenker, from UFO, and Rudolph Schenker from Scorpions are brothers. I suggest "Let it Roll" from Strangers in the Night. One of Michael Schenker 's best guitar solos. You two will be very impressed!!!

But "Lights Out" is not that exciting in the studio version. It really comes out life. So much energy.
You made my day. UFO, they are amazing. That several have already written, the livealbum Strangers in the nigth is one of the best album ever. Keep on rocking and have a nice weekend :)
RIP: Paul Raymond, Pete Way, Paul Chapman.
A killer guitarist back when guitar solos were
mandatory! I saw them with Blue Oyster Cult. Btw I am a splitting image of the
guitarist in the Scorpions. I wish I could play like him! 🎸
I saw them with BOC in 1977, BOC was debuting their laser light show that tour, it was a transcendent night of hard rock brilliance!
@@vicprovost2561 that has to be the
same tour. The yr I graduated from high school!
@@dannycasson1551 Awesome show Danny, that was the best I saw either band. Legends both for sure, they could Rock like their lives depended on it.
One of my all time favorites growing up absolutely love this song it's a classic...
They are still around but the singer talked about leaving before Covid but now it looks like they may stay together, at least for the time being.
ufo strangers in the night one of the most underated live albums michael schenker is amazing!
Love to love and Shenker were my inspiration for picking up my first flying V. I never looked back.
One of the greatest live rock and roll albums ever.
Favorite album is there 2nd album force it shenkers guitar tone is the best I've heard from any guitarist.my favourite guitar solo from this album is actually from the ballad try me.
I remember, i was 14 when this came up... 77 what a great time
Awesome song choice. 👍
If I may add, Rush is the best, but everybody reacts to them.
I LOVE Space Child! Its one big Schenker solo with a song thrown in!
Best song ever written - perfection.
🙏🏼 thank you 🙏🏼 Lex & Nick! And thanks to the requestor!!! 🤘🏼 Totally digging listening along with y’all for my 1st too.
🎧 ♾ 🎶
Their bassist Pete Way just recently passed away... was a huge influence on Steve Harris and Nikki Sixx... was friends with Geddy Lee...UFO was a big influence on Metallica as well...
They were from the UK except Michael Schenker...
You should definitely check out the entire Lights Out and Obsession albums. Also Michael's solo work with his band MSG is also great. Michael has fantastic taste and bends like no one else.
I remember this song very well while going to university in the 70s. Another great band from the 70s!!😀❤
Saw Michael Schenker, a couple of years back with MSG, still plays a mean guitar, definitely check out Rock Bottom.
Great Briish band You must listen to Rock Bottom some prefer the live version but the epic studio one for me shows all of Michael Schenkers huge talent in all its glory with no fancy add ons or showing off to the crowd
Another of the bands that played our local civic center back in the 70’s. About 2500 seats, sooooo good. Only advantage to being 1/2hr from Chicago
Try the live version on "Strangers in the Night" which one of the best (hard rock / metal) live albums ever !!
I saw them live in 1979, met the band and have an autographed album. Love this song
"Too Hot to Handle" is another killer track off the same album.
Great reaction to a great classic. The lead guitar player here was the original lead guitar player from Germany for the Scorpions in the early 70's. I had the good luck to see this song live in the Chicago in the late 70's. Very cool. Good catch about the Tubular Bells reference.
Love me some UFO; thanks for that !!!!
U.F.O are a British band and they are brilliant check out their live album strangers in the night
In the all time top 5 live rock albums IMHO, up there with Made In Japan, Live & Dangerous etc
@@glenngibbions at the moment I can’t make my mind up which is my favourite live album U.F.O Stangers or Humble pie rockin the fillmore
@@robertphelps1574 Humble Pie was awesome, great album!
They are a British band although Michael Schenker is from Germany.
Saw them in 82 on the Mechanix tour with Saxon... no Schenker... saw Schenker with Ratt in 1990 in San Antonio, TX at the Japanese Sunken Gardens... LA Guns also played that night
Most underrated band of all time
And Thin Lizzy
@@powerage17 Loved Lizzy. Cold sweat is my fav ;)
Check out their walk on water album, the return of Schenker, amazing guitar playing
Had this on 8-Track.
Boy oh boy, you forget just how good those Schenker UFO years were.
Hello guys Michael Schenker, from UFO, and Rudolph Schenker from Scorpions are brothers. I suggest "Let it Roll" from Strangers in the Night. One of Michael Schenker 's best guitar solos. You two will be very impressed!!!
Heard of this band in the 70's and had to get an album, I mean cmon UFO and it was a good album (Dont Force It) I think. But I had never heard this song untill I heard it on a reaction video and now yours. I think this is my favorite UFO song now. Thanks for playing it.
