You are such a great couple. You found it, and it’s still right there!!! You are right about how you can feel the emotion without even knowing the lyrics. That’s what I love about Radiohead. Thanks for reacting to this one and sharing the emotions connected to it. ❤
I don't even consider it alt rock or any other such labels. It's just wonderful music whose sense of space and vision is as important as the notes and lyrics, at least to my ears.
As much as I love OK Computer, I have to agree that In Rainbows is their masterwork. It is just so very original...they don't PLAY their instruments so much as PAINT with them. There has never been anything like it before or since...
I love In Rainbows but I don't know man...OK Computer was something else for me. Probably also because I've lived it in real time and it was such a step up from the already fantastic The Bends that it's emotional attachment for me. That album was a breaking point at the time, nothing sounded like it. More than Kid A. When Kid A dropped I said "great, but it kinda sounds like they've been listening to a lot of Aphex Twin lately" 😂
I TOTALLY get it...OK Computer was exactly the same for me, and still is emotionally...But from a purely musical POV (as a musician myself), In Rainbows is such a leap beyond rules and conventions, with every one of these artists in such utter command of their compositional and performance skills as to deny all that came before to take so many risks and come out the other side so successfully...For that reason I hold it in even higher esteem...
Always loved this song. But now with this incredible back story about my favorite UA-cam couple who just exemplify love… it just makes it that much more special to me. Thank you for sharing! And don’t worry, it wrecks me every time too.
I completely missed Radioheads music when it originally came out. I’m late to the party but it’s really never too late as long as you are there. Thanks for the great request JJ thank you for being so real and honest NicknLex. Holding back the years was and is that gut punch song for me.
A band that don't compare with any other. Beautiful isn't it. I've seen Radiohead a couple of times , but both times before this LP was released. Truly involving , highly exciting gigs to attend , would love to see them again at some point in the future. 🤞🤞 Thanks NicknLex , great reaction. 😍🎵🎵🤘
Wow, what a song... Absolutely beautiful, so much feeling and emotion... I'm right there with you Nick - wiping tears from my eyes. I'll be playing this over and over...
Jj!!! My oldest son was a Radiohead fan...this song was very haunting moody and I'm glad it has significant meaning to NicknLex....there's a few songs that also trigger my tearducts
Saw them do this live in Glasgow a few years back on the Moon Shaped Pool tour. He absolutely nailed the vocal. Pretty stunning how they can just pull this out the bag every single time.
I said it once and I'll say it again, RADIOHEAD is the modern day Pink Floyd .The way they experiment with different sounds is so pleasing to the ear. I ❤️ them
I recently watched a highly accomplished musician react to Radiohead and he said - " they are not a band, they're not...... they are an orchestra " IMO Radiohead have 4, 10/10 albums, OK Computer, Kid A, In Rainbows and A Moon Shaped Pool, any one of those can be my favourite depending on my mood, the time of day or if the wind blows in a different direction... however, I do believe A Moon Shaped Pool is their masterpiece, it takes everything they have learned from the 8 albums before it, adds some pure cinematic orchestration learned from Thom and Jonnys film scores and was written with pure heartbreak going on behind the scenes.
@@a7n7t7o7n7y From what I remember, he was referring to the way Radiohead arrange their songs. He made that comment a few times, even when the brass ensemble wasn’t on a specific song.
Thanks, NicknLex, for reacting to this song! The "In Rainbows" album was a real return to form for the band. Some years back, I was shopping in Cornmarket Street, Oxford and I walked right past Thom Yorke! It was like I was the only one who noticed him. He was just quietly going about his own business and I was far too starstruck to attempt to talk to him!
You are killing me Nick & Lex with this personal story!😥When you know the person is right there is no escaping it. So glad you came full circle and here you are sharing and giving so much to all of us through the music and your unique, genuine sweet souls. I had not heard this song before but it is indeed very special. Thank you so much for this lovely (tear inducing) reaction!! ❤❤🍃🍂
You are both very special and your reactions are so precious. If Nick can stand it please listen to Nude love at the Paradiso in Amsterdam. I think it is before In Rainbows. But it is very special, thank you so much for this reaction
I really recommend you two listen to the From the Basement session for the King of Limbs---I think it will hit differently this time. Perhaps it will give you a new appreciation for that fantastic album, that, as is every Radiohead album, is different than the previous ones!
Yes, their inventiveness and economy(less focused on guitar and keyboard solos, serving the song first) reminds me more of the Beatles than bands like Pink Floyd.
To paraphrase the great song from The Cure, boys DO cry, Nick! I know the song well but hadn't seen this before and so thanks for sharing. Delicate and beautiful, indeed. The whole album is a magical journey which deserves to be listened to from start to finish. It flows like a river and conjures up myriad images, new each time. A true masterpiece for me and many others.
It’s crazy how powerfully music make you feel the things you felt the first time you heard it. I know OK Computer gets all the love, but In Rainbows is a perfect album and my favorite from Radiohead.
To your point with movie scores, I would be interested in your reaction to the haunting score from There Will Be Blood by the great Johnny Greenwood. A master class in my opinion.
But what a tribute to the band Radiohead who are just an excellent Rock band who put out musical excellence with deep deep lyrics exploring the Human Condition!!! that is why Radiohead are one of my all-time favorite Rock bands along with YES,Led Zeppelin. Rush.Steely Dan. Just excellent music!
Oh my.... I all ready cry from this and with your story added to it makes it so sad!! ❤ I am so so sorry and glad it all worked out. I had my first boyfriend go the should OK Computer album, so many feelings bundled into one. ❤ Thanks for crying... 😍It will help.
You forget Bodysnatchers from the same album, quite a lot of punch. Most of the basement versions are fantastic, only with Reckoner I prefer the studio recording because it has the strings added and the close harmony in the middle which the basement version lacks, but almost every song is done brilliant. As for sadness, I think lyrics wise All I need beats Weird Fishes, but I don't have the personal link to the album as you guys, so of course that changes the entire thing. I also think that Faust/Arp is a beautiful gem, again the guitar / strings combo is perfect and it is the perfect song in the middle of the album, short but very sweet, I especially love Johnny Greenwood's strings arrangement, beautiful, also very Beatles like. The next album The King of Limbs is problematic for the studio recording, they basically messed it up, but it has also its own Basement session, which is very good. My favourite track from it is Bloom, but the best version is the live version when they performed it on the Stephen Colbert show, that is truly amazing, also a brilliant version of The Daily Mail, their most Beatles like song imo, even more than Faust Arp. Anyway, love your videos, started already way back when you did ELP, one of my favourite bands. Love to you both!
I still dont know why you dont do weird fishes, cuz i cant find it,but this was so good, il admit. Never mind, found it. I think i got mixed up, and im thinking of Smashing Pumpkins - Drown. Or at least Disarm. But Drown is the song you need to listen to even if its 12 minutes long, its worth it, as the end of grunge.
Check out the album Letters from Chutney by Rainbow Butt Monkeys. After that first album they changed their name to Finger eleven and changed their music style. But this first album is legit grunge. And awesome and the fact no one talks about it amongst albums like dirt, ten, superunknown, core or nevermind, is a travesty. In my opinion. My fav track on the album is: "As far as i can spit".

Thom Yorke is one of the greatest voices of our generation
best alt rock band of all time in my opinion. Seen them twice live, fantastic
I don't even consider it alt rock or any other such labels. It's just wonderful music whose sense of space and vision is as important as the notes and lyrics, at least to my ears.

Great reaction with a lot of great insight!!

Man you have to go back and watch all of the Basement footage. It really highlights what an amazing sounding live band they are.

This and 'How To Disappear Completely' are, in my opinion, the greatest vocal performances of Thom
My favorite Radiohead album is the one i am listening to.

I actually like the basement version better and Thom sings it even better live. I'm happy for both of you things worked out.

To me Radiohead are the spiritual successors to the Beatles and I rank them up at the very top of all-time great bands.
Yes, their inventiveness and economy(less focused on guitar and keyboard solos, serving the song first) reminds me more of the Beatles than bands like Pink Floyd.

Esta canción es tan, tan increíble, la interpretación de Thom Yorke es majestuosa. Definitivamente una de las que más amo de Radiohead.
Begins at 5:34.
O Trem Azul - Clube da Esquina 🇧🇷
Have you two listened to any of Thome and Johnny's new band The Smile?... if you need a Radiohead fix do yourself a favor.

House of cards from the basement please
Not an easy one to sing, very exposing.
Well, Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead is an academy award nomineed film scoore composer so... There we are 😍
Attempted Pyramid Song at kareoke. Emberrassing. ;)
