  • Today I am making crispy fried fish with a homemade lemon herb tartar sauce. This recipe is similar to a beer battered fish with out the beer.
    INGREDIENTS
2 to 3 lbs Cod Fish
    salt and pepper to preference
1/2 cup all purpose flour for dredge
    OIL for frying
    BATTER INGREDIENTS
    1 3/4 cup (250 g) all purpose flour
    1 tsp onion powder
    1 tsp paprika
    1 tsp lemon pepper
    2 tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp salt
15 oz (450 ml) mineral water
LEMON HERB TARTAR SAUCE (I did not weigh ingredients)
    1 1/2 cups mayo
1 to 2 TBSP sweet relish
juice of half of large lemon
    1 TBSP lemon zest
    2 TBSP fresh chives
    1 TBSP fresh dill
1/2 to 1 tsp lemon pepper
    1/4 tsp onion powder

I have made this fish several times and it comes out perfect every time. I will tell you it’s better with sparkling water than a beer batter it’s lighter not as heavy.

Since you've posted this, I think I've made this recipe at least 5 times so far (in three months). My son loves it. I use lime flavored sparkling water, and it is SO GOOD.

Sometimes being a stay at home mom it’s very overwhelming. Adding that combined with the pressure of having food ready for my family by the time that my husband gets home from work is mind-boggling to me because, my world shuts down every now and then, and I run out of ideas of what to make for dinner. But you have changed the game for me. Whenever I know that my mind is just blocked, and stuck on not knowing what to make, I just come to your channel and I select a video..... each and every single time it has been a hit. My kids and my husband love what I’ve made, Angelica. Keep up what you were doing. You are a godsend. God Bless you and your family, much love, from Austin, Texas.

Wow! Tried this last night with cod, and it came out perfect! I bought fresh baking powder (because it only lasts 6 months). I sifted the flour and stirred in the ingredients, including a whole beer. The cod came out looking very similar to yours, and my friends were impressed Thank you so much for this recipe! Delish!

Girl, I just discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago and I've made several dishes from your channel. You are now my number one UA-cam channel; your recipes are amazing, and so easy! Lovely to hear but no need to donate to peoples channel. UA-cam works by the amount of views one gets they get paid off it. So if your bringing in 10 million views on UA-cam across all your videos you’ll be earning a good amount of money. So basically, you viewing her videos is putting money into her pocket! Ina. Good way of course as she deserves it. Good day

This looks really good. I’m going to try it with the two pounds of cod I have in the freezer. Little suggestion to those of you who might like a little bit of a lighter tarter sauce. Try adding one part sour cream to two parts mayo. Really nice consistency

I don't know how you do this...so many times now I've been craving a certain food that I can't easily get because I'm so far away from everything, this is like the 6th or 7th time you've posted a new recipe that has coincided with my craving! I have been dying to have fish and chips, but a GOOD fish (not Tilapia or some fake seafood fast food joint) but I'd have to drive over an hour! Thank You!!! So glad I found your channel!

Thanks for your post. I tried it today with a No Alcohol beer batter and more of a Louisiana/Texas bent on the seasoning blend (i.e. more spicy😁). The batter is crisp and airy.....very nice! I also did some battered fries. Pro Tip: pre-cook your potatoes in the microwave, so that they get fried nicely without burning or getting overly brown. Thanks again for the recipe!

@@Robbie_Digital I make baked potatoes in the microwave. Approximately 3-4 min each side (turn once). I poke holes in them all around with a fork first. Much faster than in the oven.

Yes! This is different than most others. It is what I was looking for for My Argentina Sweet Shrimp 🍤 I bet they will be fantastic. I gotta tell you though I dip tbe shrimp in milk only then put some flour and spices I like into a zip lock baggie and shake. They coat beautifully and have a very nice coating not too heavy and they are crunchy. Quick cheap no waste hardly. No egg needed. The egg actually creates this hard gross piece that runs down the back of the shrimp. This other way doesn’t have that. I’m making myself hungry 🤤

Just made this with the Costco vacuum sealed filets of cod. Used one tall boy of Yuengling. Oil to 350° For first time fryers, the oil temp will drop when you add cold fish. I cooked 2 at a time. Use a candy thermometer clipped to the side and you can keep an eye on it. If it dips below 325° it risks being soggy. I recommend much more diced pickles or relish but that's preference

I double fry my chicken, do you double fry your fish to keep the crunchiness?

    •  5 років тому +2

If I have time I will. I find that the double fry method keeps the texture longer. I just fried these once, they sat for 5 minutes and were eaten. Anything sitting longer that 15 minutes will eventually lose some crunchiness.

This is a great video - battered fish that contains fish! The fish sticks I buy at the store don’t contain much fish! This is really battered fish - verses fish (stick) batter!

Oh wow!! Crispy golden brown cod 😲 😱 omg my mouth is watering 😋! Im fixing to go to the grocery store and get us some cod and I do like using a little bit of beer 🍺 and maybe make homemade chips 🍟 fries to go with the 🐟...I do hope it comes out as good as your fish does! Im very hungry top right now. Which is a bad combination to go grocery shopping when you are hungry. I do over spend. I might have to stop by n grab something small to tie me over til I cook dinner tonight. We normally eat late..My husbands schedule is crazy during the week and I like for us to eat dinner as a family at the table 🙃 🙂...

I made this fish today and it was good !!! Next time I’ll have to go higher than 350 so that I can be crispier.
