yeah isnt there some fancy math stuff that says everything is sine waves anyways? i learned the basics of sound design using 3xosc from FL studio, i think this is a better tool for that since it shows you want you are doing to a wave and what causes waves to take on their shapes, as well as how those things have distinctive sounds
@@GillamtheGreatest I learnt the same way, FL was my first DAW. Basically additive synthesis is what you are saying, but of course you would need 20,000 oscillators to replicate real life. At the end different shapes produce different harmonics.
@@AlexReidStudios yup thats the stuff i was thinking about. i learned the basics of that sort of thing with sytrus. it does the harmonics thing. you can do an awful lot with 128 per oscillator
I have 7 of Cherry Audio's vsts, i absolutely love the Mercury-4, The Quadra, Polymode, Voltage Modular, Elka-X, and the Eight voice, and MG-1+ But i got the demo of Sines, and i browsed through about 1/3 of the presets, and so far i'm hmmmmm, about it! It doesn't impress me as much as the Mercury-4 or Elka! I heard about 2 minutes of those, and bought them right away! It's way too common sounding so far! i think i will keep it as a demo for now.
Looks like an interesting synth. Of course, with all the modulation available for each oscillator it was always gonna be more than just sines at play. I've mucked about with their free modular, before going back to using Softube and Reaktor. It was a lot of fun. Not so interested in their analog enulations, since Arturia, Uhe, Xils and Fxpansion have me covered there. This one looks a bit different and there's not many that take this approach. There's a Reason rack extension that I seem to remember doing sonething similar, although I'm not sure if that was just an additive synth. I've heard that many of their synths are prone to aliasing. Which is not neccesarily a problem. Afterall. I own Plogue OPS7. If you want, that can alias just as much as the DX7 it's based on. Sometimes aliasing can be part of the aesthetic, adding to the sound in a kind of grimy lofi way. I just hope there's not too much in the way of aliasing when it comes audio rate modulation. When it come to that it can sound downright nasty and not in a good way.
I also find it good that they are experimenting with more unique stuff. They could have made a normal synth with wavefolders and what not, but they made that part of the oscillator engine. The same with the FM possibilities this synth offers. I believe that the good thing about CA compared to others in terms of emulations is the price range, but is true we have a lot to choose from. thanks for watching!
Honestly? none. They do give me a nfr license so I can get a review done before they launch their product. If I didn't like the product I simply won't be making a review, but I've enjoyed CA synths before starting on youtube :)
@@AlexReidStudios but that's nonsense. "If I didn't like the product I simply won't be making a review". Why are you then making a review? A review is a way to test it and give the positive and negative points. And if the negative points are more, then so be it. That's how a review work. Call it a presentation if you know from the start that its good. It's sad to see UA-camrs only post "positive" reviews because they're afraid they won't get anything from a company.
@@tomkarlson86 I get you, but I wheb I don't like something I just leave it and I don't want to spend my time making a video about that, when I could be doing other sound related videos. That is unless I feel dissapointed from something or I feel there's a company scamming their consumers.
Nice product again from Cherry Audio and a great overview here. Bravo Alex!
Thank you! And congrats to Cherry Audio
Thanks for zooming in. It’s a lot going on in this synth
yeah! I had it on full screen almost to manage to read everything haha
@@AlexReidStudios I’ve watched several videos where I couldn’t see anything because it’s massive
I love the gui, alot don't. Bought it yesterday. Im Happy
My first impression was it was a bit cluttered, but I got used to it really quickly and it's intuitive
Nice review/overview man!
Thank you!
@@AlexReidStudios No worries... Looks like a great synth I'm definitely going to pick it up.
Cherry audio! Love this guys! The gui is a bit sine wavy ;)
Yeah the GUI can get cluttered, but I got used to it. Gotta keep it near full screen tho! Still, amazing sounds and great workflow on this one.
Excellent overview. 👍😎
Thank you!!
Dreamsynth also has a mod matrix
Does it?
this would be a great synth for an education setting.
Definetly, it shows how simple sine waves transform into complex things in a really easy way
Even better it sounds great

I understand. I liked how this one is designed as I love to make weird stuff. I may use it more for experimental things haha

"Do we really need a sine wave only synth?" 1:10 minutes later, transforms wave shapes into every other wave shape xD
😂😂 Well they are technically morphed sine waves
How much money you get from CA?

Bro.😊
Hey bro!
I'm not feeling this new synth. I think FM is a better choice
What do you mean with that? This synth is FM too. Just curious! I know we may disagree on our tastes :)
