IQ Question solution: This problem was a really difficult one, and I can't actually solve it. The first thing I noticed is the diagonal line from the top right to the bottom left that splits the 16 cm² and the 32 cm² shapes in half. That line also splits the whole square into half. So It wondered if the 4 triangles were similar. I also thought that we could draw another line from top left to bottom right, which only leaves the 16cm² and 32cm² not split. As the 4 split shapes add up to the same area as (?+20)cm² and the 2 bigger triangles contain each half, each unsplit shape must be 1/2 of the triangle(1/2 of the whole square), which makes 1/4, 1/4 x 2 turned out to be 1/2, so I thought that the 2 unsplit shapes must be 1/2 of the whole square. 16+32 =48 cm², and now I know the remaining shapes add up to 48. So 48-20, and I got 28. I wasn't sure at first, but when I checked the solution, my guess turned out to be right.
yinghung man haha, this one is really tricky, when I was asked, I kept trying to break up the polygon to smaller ones, turned out i was over thinking it😊
