Some tips I learned a while back Always leave a room clean when leaving it Always walk with something in your hand when going from one room to another I also started timing myself to know exactly how much time it takes to do it . Surprisingly laundry to put away only takes 5 min
OMG... Exactly where i was this morning... My toilet needed cleaned, then i looked around and the whole bathroom needed it but i have no time... This is exactly what i needed to see today... THANK YOU LAURA
Hi Laura. Great tips. It is amazing that when you eliminate or at least cut down on the clutter on your horizontal surfaces, how little time it takes to clean them! I also follow Diane in Denmark who teaches Fly Lady. I have gotten to where I do a very quick "swish and swipe" of my toilet bowls and sink and vanity tops every couple of days. Literally takes less than two minutes when you keep up with it. I also have a cordless stick vacuum and do a quick run of high traffic (and dog hair covered) areas every couple of days.
Two things that I do to tide me over between deeper toilet cleanings: - Use the bowl scrubber if you see ANYTHING in the bowl after you go, and try to just do a quickie scrub every day. - use a square or two of toilet paper to dust the top of the tank, wipe the area behind the seat, and anything on the rim under the seat. Just wipe it off, toss in and flush. I also use Flylady's concept that "soap is soap." Empty shampoo bottles have a long afterlife when you refill with water, because the remaining shampoo is so concentrated! A little squirt makes cleaning easier. The guest room gets the average shampoo from the store and I buy for the ability to remove the offensive lookjng label as well as a nice, opaque and neutral color plastic that squeezes easily. It can either be on the tank (easy for kids to reach) or in a closed cabinet above the toilet.
dusting is something I integrate the kids. they both get a wet cloth and who has the dirtiest wins. (winner gets to choose what to do next, sometimes candy) but i have to say these are nice recommendations, but context switching so much is bad. if you are on it and dust of the top of the toilet or something, or you clean the mirror while brushing your teeth, that is fine, but to get a trash bag to get my car clear.... not so much.

This was motivating to me. I’ll be seeing how many tiny tasks I can get done as I go about my normal routine tomorrow. Thanks for the ideas!

You are my twin i swear, you named everything i need to do... Incl fridge and bedside table
Reminds me of Clutterbug saying, give yourself permission to do it crappy". When you don't have time to clean the whole bathroom just do the toilet.

I swish and swirl my toilet bowl with a brush everyday to avoid build up.
Yay! Good for you 👏 I'm sure that makes a world of difference when you go to deep-clean it.
