I have a property on an island. So, I decided to go and check on it, in order to start eventually the renovation. The plan was to stay for a few days. Summertime. So, I have all the things needed for the said time frame, plus extra, cause it is summer. I ended up staying the whole summer, 3 whole months and all I had were the things I initially had. Did I miss having more? No. Did I buy anything? Of course. Toiletries. What was the feeling? Freedom.
Got rid of a FULL truckload of stuff out of my basement (outgrown kid clothes and shoes) plus 5 garbage bags of clothes from my closet this week! I still have a lot to go but I felt a massive weight lift off my shoulders. I have room in the basement to actually sort things now to finish decluttering with the purpose of finishing the basement.

I sometimes take photos of my room if it's messy so I can see what sorts of things are making the pile of mess - it's been clothes, paper and furniture!
Marissa. Funny story.... my neighborhood does a holiday party at a local restaurant. There is a cost to attend. We haven't been in years and this year a few friends are going as a GNO. So, I decided to submit my attendance form to reserve my spot. The next day I decided I needed a party outfit (I literally have nothing appropriate to wear to this thing and I mean nothing!). I ended up getting a few options (2 pr of slacks, a red sweater, 2 dress tops and a pair of shoes). I won't even tell you how much that cost!!!! As I was hanging the items up in my closet, I realized that after the event, I would probably never wear these items again (they just aren't appropriate for my SAH lifestyle). Furthermore, Im not really interested making small talk that evening and feeling drained afterwards. So I decided to return everything and not pay the fee to attend. I am a minimalist and have worked so so hard to get rid of stuff, not bring more back in and to save $. Feeling very relieved. I just don't care enough to manage MORE STUFF!!
Taking photos of your home really helps to see your things in a new way, it’s like they have been invisible. It also helps when you do start decluttering because you can see your progress. It’s good for insurance too. I also keep a monthly tally of what I have donated, trashed etc it helps me feel that I have gotten something done.
I keep a tally. For the last 2 years, I have done a "get rid of 202x things in 202x" 2023, I think I got almost halfway. 2024, I did over 2024 things. I will probably hit over 2025 things this coming year bc I want to do a big push and finish the house so I can start remodeling and having that better, cleaner life!
I was so proud of myself the other day! Our pharmacy is in Target. I usually look around when I pick up my sons meds. I was looking around last time and realized after about 10 minutes that I was bored and wanted nothing bc I am trying to clean up my house. 🎉 I was so proud!
Sage advice! After cleaning up four major hoarded homes of family members who had passed on, and all the drama and expense that comes with that. I have been on a quest to declutter and minimize my home for the past five years. I have reduced my "junk" to where I have what I need and can keep it orderly. But the main clutter now is that my husband has half done home remodelling projects and all the tools and building materials are left in areas of the house. The problem is that my husband isn't a hoarder but a huge procrastinator. It got worse after the four family members died, and then the world bug hit. The good news is that the projects are FINALLY getting completed and my husband is finally opening his eyes to the backlog of projects. The past two weekends I finally have my new floors installed in our kitchen and bathroom, new toilet and vanity, newly painted kitchen cupboards and new panelling in the kitchen. I can finally see my dining table for the first time in three years. Just seeing these projects done has taken a load off of both of our shoulders. The deaths and world bug did a number on my husband's mental health and the advice you given here is what his VA counsellor has told him as well. Thank you for sharing this wise little video, great advice once again.
@AtoZenLife at about 6:40 the statement about things will deteriorate no matter where they are, dont let your home become a landfill. Ooof! That is one of the first times someone has spoken to the clutter hoarder deep in my soul that actually resonated with me. I have deep guilt that I have produced/purchased items that are now trash, that my consumption has caused "waste". But hearing what you said immediately lifted a weight from my shoulders. That will be my mantra as I clean from now on. Thank you.
If you really think about it, everything will be "trash" eventually. If it's not usable or fixable (or fixing it is not something you are realistically going to do), hanging onto it instead of properly disposing of it isn't actually doing anything for the environment in the long term.
I feel the same about ‘donating’ to a landfill. It helps me to know that living a minimalist lifestyle and being a recycler means I’m not contributing much to the landfills. It’s disheartening to see the amount of trash my community has at the curbside every week. The maximum allowed and even more with the purchased stickers from the city on the surplus trash bags.
I live on a busy road. The big items that I no longer need or want, go to the front yard, near the roadside with a free sign. Everything goes in an hour or so.
"Don't be Afraid to Trash Clutter" really hit home with me. Recently I discovered that a music box I had been given years ago had quit working. I agonized for a day or so about whether or not I should repair it or replace the guts. Then I realized that I didn't really care about it all that much, it had been a gift given to me years ago, but not something I actually wanted. In the trash it went!
@andreyav because that to me defeats the purpose. I don't want to contribute to someone's hoarding addiction by offering a broken item that sits forever with hundreds of other things. I lived with this mentality as a child much like Marissa did.
@andreyav and what part of "not something that I actually wanted" did you miss? This is a channel about living with less. I have donated plenty of stuff that was of use and still in good condition. So don't give me crap about throwing something away that was broken.
Sometimes procrastinating can help - I just decluttered entire wardrobe because I was looking for anything, literally anything to do in order to postpone finishing online course I have to do but don't feel like doing... 😅 So use it when you can 😉
@@katarzynaherman5424 Haha! Yes - we just need a bigger, more stressful thing to procrastinate on to make the previous big stressful thing seem more appealing! 😅🙄🤓🤣
I've been diligently working on decluttering, and just tonight I gave my brother a blanket that has the Grateful Dead teddy bears on it, that have been a gift to my late husband. I know my brother really appreciated it, but after he left the house and took it away I felt a sadness that I wasn't expecting. It's as if everything that I need to remove from my home and my life is an emotional decision and I don't know what to do about that!
I’m thinking it has to do with the fact that it belonged to your husband. Even though you made a good and thoughtful decision, it’s one more piece of him that’s gone. Grief can be unpredictable. Be gentle with yourself. 😘
It is illogical but heart wrenching to part with things of someone you loved or things that you’ve loved. I tell these things, out loud, how dear they have been to me, that I won’t live forever and that I am giving them the best chance I can to find a home where they will bring someone else such happiness as I have had. Do your ceremony, dear, shed your tears and know we are all one in the Universe ❤
I loved all of these, but #7 really resonated with me. I appreciate that you pointed out the fact that we all have our own unique and personal experiences that have led us to our decluttering/minimalist journey. My past experiences are different than yours yet they are no less valid. Recognizing that has helped me tremendously. Thank you Marissa. 😊❤
That’s what I’ve been doing as well. For a month now. Everyday I declutter somewhere. A drawer. A shelf. A cabinet. A section of a closet. Occasionally a chunk of time. I’m almost there. I’m sure I’ve parted with over 1,000 items. Most resale-able, much donate-able. A little was only trash-able. 😅
OMG I love this video. You are teaching us so much even though the minimalist "FAD" is over. You are proving that it's not a fad rather a way of life. Yes small and simple is the way to go😊
As a highly organized individual, my first rule is don't buy things you don't need, and if you need them, look at home first because you may already have what you need. My spouse, unfortunately, is precisely the opposite, and it drives me absolutely crazy. Last week, for example, I decided to clean up the laundry room and found 3 bottles of leather cleaner and three products that had at least an extra bottle or container, all partially used. It is madness!
I can relate. My husband told me I needed to buy Epsom salts because he used up the last of them. Instead of adding it to the grocery list I looked under the sink and found a brand new unopened 6lb bag. Mind you that’s the same sink he pulled the bag he used up from. So of course I snapped a picture and sent it to him. This is why I buy the household goods.
@@smontone Same; I do the grocery shopping now since she also doesn't believe in shopping lists and thinks she has a phenomenal memory, which she doesn't. As a bonus, the conflicts and weekly grocery bills decreased significantly. 🤣
I give my husband a basket to put his things in. He filled it, bought more stuff, a cabinet was added with 3 basket...filled, a bigger cabinet filled. I've stopped trying. But it's very stressful. Together for 37 years living with a messy person who brings in so much stuff! I've introduced him to purging. And at black Friday we stayed home and watched Buy now on netflix. I'm hoping for small improvements. Sometimes for survival I have to have some blindness for sanity.
I don't put off decluttering because I am too busy, I am unwell. I keep thinking watching these kind of videos will help me feel better, to look forward for a time when I feel better.
Ok, thank you, Marissa! I have been watching minimalist content for probably more than a decade now... and it seems that over the past few years it's just been the same stuff on repeat. Nothing new under the sun. 20-20 rule, one-in-one-out rule, 'does it spark joy?', packing party... we've heard it ALL before. But the idea of considering you things as 'room-mates' is a concept I actually had never come across before! Super interesting.
I just decluttered one more thing. There was a collage that someone I know made me that I no longer have ties to that I have been constantly moving around my closet. I own all of the photos on it already, and it's just caused me grief for a while. I feel better now!
I’m just now deciding that it will all be trash eventually- so when I am really overwhelmed- I can toss anything and say I can make better decisions now but tossing this in an “imperfect way” is better than keeping it
Yesterday, on my day off, I don't even know why, but I opened the pantry door and -- hours later, a whole "construction site weight" 55-gallon trash bag was filled and was too heavy for me to move! I had to divide it in half to even drag it out to the garage. And I kept going! The silverware drawer is cleaned out, the essential oils & all those things I made and didn't use, cleaned out, the bottles and jars that I paid for to put things in that I'd make, and haven't used for the past five years, cleaned out, and now I have way too much trash to put in the regular curbside pickup this week. I'm going to have to figure something else out. Last week I went to the basement, now that I am "allowed to" get rid of boxes of paperwork that I had to keep for ten years, and took 10 banker's boxes to the shredder. I still have a banker's box FULL of 3.5" floppy disks that I learned where I can send them and they'll recycle them for free. The shredder charged $1 per floppy to permanently destroy and provide proof. I have about 15 more boxes of paperwork in the basement to go through.
Thank you for those great declutter tips. As I struggle so much to throw away few things, mostly old clothes that can't be donated and fashion/beauty magazines, catalogues, flyers, I was wondering if that piece of clothes you've put in the black bag at 11:50 was to toss or donate. As you've also had a clear bag full of clothes next to it after, I assumed the black one was trash and the clear one was to donate ? I hope one day you'll film a bit more while discarding few of those things even if it's just few items as it's the things that is always decluttered off camera by everyone but the only things I struggle 🥲
Hahaha, that is one SMART intro! It's so true that clutter does make us think negatively about ourselves but I don't think I"d every thought of it that way. Always have me thinking Marissa!
I love to see all your video's. They are very motivating to look around and see what can go away. Also you show what lies behind the clutter problem. You show also how in a family always clutter can pile up because of habits and having no good place ready for stuff. What in my opinion also is important that you need not forget to make a home cozy with some beautiful decoration items that you may have in your cupboard. Or with plants and a vase with fresh flowers. In cold periode a decorative blanket over the couch that you can pull over yourself when sitting. Can make the room look cozy and is functional and the heater can stay low. Go on with your good work Marissa
Good video! In my case I kept all the baby stuff and children clothes and I couldn't be happier about the time I save by not needing to buy everything all over again
Hello from Athens Greece. Just by instinct, that s how i started decluttering. It was our entry way. The first corner you see when you open the door. The whore process took me about five years. It was unread books and unused items belonging to my late mom. And, obviously very much emotionally charged process.
I spent the whole weekend "with you" and learned a lot. Today I have already contacted several donation organizations and offered my "surplus". Thank you for sharing your experiences and your life
I went to an organisation seminar and the lady said she put her children’s things from the floor in a freezer bag and into the freezer, if they come and ask if she knows where it is and they said they looked everywhere, she suggested the freezer 🤣
Net Zero stuff. It’s a never ending task to keep it this way. “Stuff creep” is a universal law lol! Like that mason jar a friend brought over with jalapeño jelly. The things I use most need a home that is super accessible and easy to put away.
Oh wow, I didn't know about the people never decluttering who want to. That's really sad. Loved learning about all you said though. Yes! Minimalism is definitely so much best than just decluttering. Loved the video!!
We’d like to move to Europe in a few years after I retire, so decluttering needs to start now. We’ve also had to do the after-death cleanup of relatives homes, and will have a huge mess to handle when both of my parents pass. They both have large properties filled to the brim with crap, that neither myself or my sibling want.
i really shouldn't watxch these decluttering videos at night because they usually give me a boost that won't last till the next day and now it's 3 am and I want to declutter when I should have been to bed 2h ago...
Sadly, when I was tasked to clear out 3 homes in the past 2 years, the toughest reality was that not only did no one want the lightly used items on Craigslist or marketplace - but even Goodwill wasn't accepting donations. Everything had to go to the landfill. Some items probably could have fetched $20-30 online sales, but I just didn't have the luxury of time for it - especially if you consider the packing and shipping work...and now eBay is sending a record of all your sales to the IRS!
I disagree just a slight little bit with the idea of not keeping things for my future self. One of my very clear motivations for keeping things decluttered is that I don't want to pass on MY junk to my kids, like my mom did to us. (She kept, literally, everything. The week she went into assisted living, ostensibly to check it out and then return home, we removed EIGHT 55-GALLON TRASH BAGS OF TRASH out of her kitchen. She had osteoporosis so bad and was bent over so severely that she couldn't reach up into her shelves in the kitchen any higher than the lowest shelves, and if she was going to come back home, we needed everything cleared out so that she could reach her most important stuff. She fell, right in front of me, standing on a wobbly stepstool that needed a screw tightened, which we learned after she fell. She was 93, and spent her next three years in assisted living. Not going to become that when I'm 93.) I want my future self to be not quite as pared-down as Gandhi was when he was ready to pass on, but almost. I heard once that all of his belongings fit into a shoebox. Yeah, that's not what I'm aiming for, but WAY less than what my mom had.
I've been slowly decluttering my house and I'm pretty much done everything upstairs, now I'm to the point that I HAVE to tackle my basement because I cant properly store the important things I want to keep from upstairs in a tidy way until I declutter my dump of a basement. And it's stressing me out so bad because it's such a large job and I have 2 kids.
Most of these points have to do with maturing as a person. Moving on, moving forward, getting wiser. For example. the celebrity gossip stuff - my story is exactly what you described and then one day I realized how toxic that actually is; gossiping in general. I stopped it immediately.
It is true that people don't know what to do with trash. Here in Sweden they built recycling stations miles away from peoples homes. People with no car should take taxi to take old items there, which is simply too expensive. So everything ends up in the garage. I used to say "now we take our garbage for a trip when we drove 40 km to the nearest container only to throw it. Till my children said "and when you take us for a trip somewhere?" And it was true.
My biggest issue is around toys.. after becoming more minimal we went from like 5 big totes of toys to 1 and do rotations which keeps my 2 year old interested and me from trying to buy more. But with the holidays my fear kicks back in that i need to own everything out there for him and have only gotten 2 gifts so far but struggling everytime i go in the store or trying to delete fb marketplace or looking for curb alerts in the neighborhood. I bought craft and sensory stuff yet never grab for it because im focused more on toys or shopping 😢
I have an almost 4 yr old and now that i know her personality i can use that as a guide for what to gift my child but at age 2 they dont know how to play and will not remember what they got. Dont worry about the impression of the big day because you are setting your standards for all years to come. They dont need 10 gifts to open all on one day. I just got the kiwi co subscription and this way she gets multiple gifts but it is ongoing and spread over the entire year. I remember trying to get all the so called montessori wooden what nots and everything but kids learn by moving their bodies and being read to. Water table and my kid loved kinetic sand forever. But as far as toys please relax and give it some time for them to develop their interests. Dont be afraid to keep it minimal at this age! Also see if you have a shop in your area that does consignment for kids toys. That way you buy second hand and later turn around and bring it back to the store for more credit towards future things. I did that w all my daughters clothes and toys. Sometimes they will even give you cash in return.
Maybe a final one: if you need to buy something because you've shopped your home and there's nothing you can use, really think hard about how and how often you're going to use it. If you can't answer those questions, don't buy it.
Short list: Do: -Start with the easy stuff -Start small -Practice, practice, practice -Listen to your clutter -Know your options for getting rid of clutter -Ask the right decluttering questions -Schedule your decluttering sessions and dropoffs -Use it or lose it -Share the responsibility -Experiment with owning less Don't: -Procrastinate -Bite off more than you can chew -Aim for perfection -Fall into the comparison trap -Be afraid to trash clutter -Forget to stop the inflow of clutter -Let decluttered items sit too long -Worry about waste -Get rid of other people's stuff -Live too much for the past or future
So many people are getting rid of stuff, charity shops, recycling centres, freecycle etc, are overwhelmed and can’t take the stuff. Surely the first rule needs to be…stop buying.
This was my toxic family and then later it was other people too. Then it was like userville as if I was having to be a mom to a bunch of messy, extra needy, irresponsible adult kids. (We are so done with that now lol. Since I’m moving then it’s like I’ll just be leaving a lot of stuff behind…as well as all these needy greedies lol). Im moving now (downsizing lol) so it’s all gonna happen one way or another. 😅😅 I feel pretty good about it tho, as I have been “pre downsizing” now for over a year. Lol. My main rule now is “if it fits it sits.” (Conversely if things don’t fit, they don’t get to sit lol). My limits are a small shed room and an 840 sq ft house with a generous front porch and a small side deck. 😬 So that’s a very important rule right now lol. Use it or lose it was great for me. Suddenly I became like a professional product tester. 🤣🤣 Wound up getting rid of 90% of it and consuming most of the rest rather quickly. Lol. And I learned a lot more about my real self in the process. So “the real me” really doesn’t like complicated gadgets or special fancy single use creams or consumables. So now I know better what not to ever buy again. 😁
The hardest thing about watching all of y'alls videos how many cabinets and shelves you all have. Easy to have a half empty drawer when you have a whole lot of them
I think only her kitchen is that way. Watch her older videos - aside from kitchen, which is important for her family, Marissa doesn't have much furnitures. And cooking is their way of family bonding, so of course, they search places with big, comfortable kitchen. It's true that Marissa isn't downsizing, but that's apparently not what she needs. It doesn't mean annything she says is any less relevant: I am living with my spouse in two rooms of around 15 square meters, without counting common areas we share with someone else. I can still keep things organised and counter tops empty.
I totally get this. I have a small house with little storage and a big family. I have accepted that sometimes when I'm figuring out what to do with stuff I can't just declutter it and infact I need to find a storage solution. I have gotten many cabinets and dressers and things to make our home functional. I think everything having a place is really important and sometimes you just have to add storage.
What do you do when something is in good condition but no one wants it even for free? I hate the landfill and have stopped buying. But I have for example two girls satin head bands which are perfectly good, brand new even. I have tried sending them through multiple rounds of “free posting” in my local FB group, but it’s one item that has not gotten picked up. It feel so wrong to throw them away. Just as one example.
Do they have cousins or friends who are close enough to gift that might want them? Otherwise, set a timer and TOSS if you can’t find a new owner. Just think twice about satin headbands going forward 🙏
@ thank you 🙏 you’re right, it doesn’t have to sit forever before the landfill. It feels wrong but my family is important too. More important than the stuff. The thing is with all of us moving in and out of the house, I have no idea where they came from in the first place! I definitely wouldn’t buy them. But anyway your channel is one of my favorites. Your voice is so relaxing. Tips are inspiring. Love the personal stories and the 10-20m videos are a great length for getting ready for bed. You’ve taught me so much and I’m glad I found your videos while continuing down this journey!
If someone keeps decluttering, it's likely that this person keeps buying things after each decluttering. So, staying away from shopping is the key. Also, learn to live frugally and use what we already have. For example, if there is a hole in your pants, learn to mend it instead of getting rid of it. This way, your clothes will last longer. (I know how to sew and used to make my own clothes.) While donating is great, most of our stuff will end up in landfill. Modern life is very wasteful and it doesn't have to be that way. If everyone uses less, it will be less pressure on the economy and nature. What nature can provide is limited. What's unlimited is human greed. Some people are insatiable.

Stopping the inflow of stuff is key! Stay out of Target and TJ Maxx!!
Working in this but it’s so hard when I work in salon that leases inside Walmart and I need to walking traffic from Walmart to be busier :/
OH SO TRUE
BUT THOSE EXCLAMATION POINTS😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😊😊😊

That sounds wonderful! What ever did you do with the stuff?!
I did a six hour marathon declutter
That is a GREAT Idea!!!! You don't see your own surroundings after a while as a stranger might!!!
“Imperfect action is what make things happen.” Good reminder for today. Thank you! ❤
🙏❤️
Yes well said
I was so proud of myself the other day! Our pharmacy is in Target. I usually look around when I pick up my sons meds. I was looking around last time and realized after about 10 minutes that I was bored and wanted nothing bc I am trying to clean up my house. 🎉 I was so proud!
You have every reason to be proud. Hoorah!
I did the same at the Christmas market! Yay for us!
Thank you.
I know EXACTLY how you feel and I’m glad that mindset shift has helped you as it did me. 🙏 Wishing all the best and lots of decluttering success!!!
This is what I call PERFECT TIMING!! 😍 Thanks so much.
You are so welcome and HAPPY DECLUTTERING! 😘
Marissa, thank you for the tips, so helpful ❤
This was interesting. I do NOT get rid of every Amazon/delivery box. I break them down and then have a sturdy box for future donations.
Ditto - plus those for the cat (in rotation)
Me too! I donate or consign items on a regular basis and use those boxes.
Or use to send items I've sold online! (I just started, and boy does every item that leaves feel like a relief!)
Why didn't you put it to a Freecycle facebook group or such? Maybe someone would take it and repair it or have repaired or just have as ornament?
😅 So use it when you can 😉
😂 Hey, motivation is motivation!
I’ve watched your videos for years, I’m amazed at how much your boys have grown.
Same here
Oooooh that intro, what an incredibly powerful 30 seconds!
Thankyou Marissa, I think that has to be the BEST intro I've ever heard! ❤👏🙏
I always declutter per small area. The achievement makes me feel good and encourage me to do the next area.
Another very helpful video. I love that you’ve lived these issues and know how to help from experience.
Thanks so much, Dawn, and always happy to have you here! ☺️🙏
@@smontone This is one of those situations when it's better to be happy than to be right. Snapped a picture?!
Thanks so much, Odette, and glad you enjoyed it! 🤗
I just decluttered one more thing. There was a collage that someone I know made me that I no longer have ties to that I have been constantly moving around my closet. I own all of the photos on it already, and it's just caused me grief for a while. I feel better now!
I’m just now deciding that it will all be trash eventually- so when I am really overwhelmed- I can toss anything and say I can make better decisions now but tossing this in an “imperfect way” is better than keeping it
I am a parent with 3 kids with disabilities and your content massively helps. I'm listening to this while doing my bedroom.
I agree, I can’t handle a big job. It’s too overwhelming. But then, I do a small task, complete it and then feel guilty because I don’t do more.
How do you eat an elephant? 🐘 One bite at a time, of course!! 😆👍
What an excellent summary of decluttering. You nailed every point. Thx.
Great stuff!
I love how expressive you are. You are awesome!
Your channel came up at the exact right time for me. I'm ready to do the things you suggested!
Woohoo, let’s do it 💪
I spent the whole weekend "with you" and learned a lot. Today I have already contacted several donation organizations and offered my "surplus". Thank you for sharing your experiences and your life
I would love to see what you are getting your boys for Christmas this year ❤
I went to an organisation seminar and the lady said she put her children’s things from the floor in a freezer bag and into the freezer, if they come and ask if she knows where it is and they said they looked everywhere, she suggested the freezer 🤣
Love the example at the beginning! I was getting reallllllllllllllllllly irritated at your "roomates!" 😅😂🤣
😂🙏
Net Zero stuff. It’s a never ending task to keep it this way. “Stuff creep” is a universal law lol! Like that mason jar a friend brought over with jalapeño jelly. The things I use most need a home that is super accessible and easy to put away.
AKA Kenneth Bailey Another reason We All Respect You So Much !😊
Thank you so much, this video was so helpful! 😊
Thanks Jasmine, so glad you enjoyed it! 🥰
Great intro. You got me... I was feeling really bad for you!
Good one! That was not a roommate - that was my clutter 😄 Oh, so true...to me either!😸
Excellent video Marissa! Fantastic tips ❤
Oh wow, I didn't know about the people never decluttering who want to. That's really sad. Loved learning about all you said though.
Yes! Minimalism is definitely so much best than just decluttering. Loved the video!!
Hey Marissa, thank you for the content you create!
♥️ and have a wonderful Thanksgiving in your new home ♥️
Thank you and hope you have a wonderful one as well! ❤️🙏
I got all the thing out of my home. And i am so happy. But im still looking if i misst some thing, but i have not .and im still looking 😂😂
Thank you!!! Your videos are the best advice and spot on!! 16 is my favorite.
I am very happy to have nice items and taking care of them😊
We’d like to move to Europe in a few years after I retire, so decluttering needs to start now.
Hit the save to "watch later" button and re-watch it in the morning!
Cute flash back pics. ☺️❤️
Great information!
Thank you 😊
I disagree just a slight little bit with the idea of not keeping things for my future self.
Number 5! So true...
Great intro! 💪😄
🙏❤️
Most of these points have to do with maturing as a person. Moving on, moving forward, getting wiser. For example. the celebrity gossip stuff - my story is exactly what you described and then one day I realized how toxic that actually is; gossiping in general. I stopped it immediately.
Recycle if throwing out! Here clothes textiles not quilts take to recycle bin for rescue helicopters ♥️🇬🇧
"Don't procrastinate", well that was a hit in my ADHD face 😅
😂
literally
this was funny thx much needed lol
I don't have that much problems with decluttering but more with stop buying stuff.
I love your ideas, but so hard for me to do it.
What are you struggling with in particular? Maybe we can gather some ideas here to help!
I really want to know the brand name or link to your dishware. I love them and have requested the info a few times😊
I have a problem getting rid of old electronics!
What’s holding you back? 🤔
Awesome video
These are some decent tips, but I would suggest checking the audio for future videos - this seems to only have the left channel.
I’d love to know where to purchase 4 of those dining chairs.
Darn it!!!! I watched this entire video just for her to say I can’t throw my husbands stuff away 😂
Do you recycle or throw everything in one place to be burned?
My goal is collecting the more art I can
Maybe a final one: if you need to buy something because you've shopped your home and there's nothing you can use, really think hard about how and how often you're going to use it. If you can't answer those questions, don't buy it.
Short list:
Do:
-Start with the easy stuff
-Start small
-Practice, practice, practice
-Listen to your clutter
-Know your options for getting rid of clutter
-Ask the right decluttering questions
-Schedule your decluttering sessions and dropoffs
-Use it or lose it
-Share the responsibility
-Experiment with owning less
Don't:
-Procrastinate
-Bite off more than you can chew
-Aim for perfection
-Fall into the comparison trap
-Be afraid to trash clutter
-Forget to stop the inflow of clutter
-Let decluttered items sit too long
-Worry about waste
-Get rid of other people's stuff
-Live too much for the past or future
Don't forget recycling. Know what your city or town takes.

I procrastinate by decluttering
Start with a drawer. Later another one. And then another.
When are we getting a house tour?
We have been using a “slow decorating” approach and still have some key furniture and art we want missing-it’s definitely on the agenda!
no problem with throwing away every thing😊
Small steps make big progress. Roommates are the worst.
