Good job that's a lot of work congratulations on your new tools. If you work in the center of your anvil and grip the end of your hammer instead of the middle you will work a little less hard hope this helps God bless and forge on.

Heat treated is better. I wouldn’t worry about your drift as much it’ll get hot anyways so unless it is s7 or h13 or something it is kinda pointless
