I inherited one from my best friend who recently passed away, aged just 37. It gives me great strength.
We spoke about the old ways/heathenry at length before he died. It's something he believed in and something I'd developed a keen interest in after experiencing something I can only describe as spiritual, while being under a freezing cold waterfall in North Wales for a large amount of time.
I feel strongly that our spirituality should be closely linked to nature & will continue on this journey.

One of the things I have reflected greatly on, is what Mjolnir could mean more symbolically.
Thor is the god of strength, protection, though fertility/blessing. But while yes a god of thunder/storms, and a slayer of giants. There is also something more Mjolnir might mean to us.
Among the Norse Pagan traditions is the different parts of self or being. Among these is Hamr, which means "shape" or "form". I personally don't think that Mjolnir or Hammer and Hamr are simply coincidences in word similarities. If we think of a blacksmith working at the forge, tempering and "shaping to form" with his hammer? Suddenly the revelation is made clear. Mjolnir isn't just an emblem, or simply a symbol but a reminder. Through Hugr thought, Minni memory, we can empower ourselves to forge Hamr shape ourselves and our reality. This is to me the real meaning esoterically speaking to forge our Wyrd or fate in our words and actions. Galdr the practice of spell or incantation is tied to Ond or "breath of life".
Really fascinating when you contemplate the deeper meanings.

@@therideinmidgard Mainly a mix, I take time to understand Asatru, the Eddas, and cross reference with videos, articles, and so on.
The parts of Norse Spiritual Self was found on Arith Harger's youtube channel. He really breaks down the terms and meanings. Plus tells how they tie to Galdr, and Seidr practices.
I consider myself a Wanderer/Traditionalist/Restorationist using both scholarly research with well what pulls me calling wise. I just want to practice right, but not utilizing too much modern Wicca etc. Though sorting the info is tricky.

I use the hammer to swear allegiance to our ancestors, to swear allegiance to the old ways, to swear allegiance to each brother and grandfather who is treading this earth today, for those who are there and to remember those who left, also as a protection and to feel connected to thor, and be loyal to myself. I also take it as a great symbol as the blacksmiths hit the iron on the anvil to shape a piece like a sword or an ax or some other object. I also take it in my process as my life is being transmuted every day.

As an atheist, at a certain point, I simply felt that perhaps I was missing the protection of something. That something, however, could never have been a cross, for me always a symbol of weakness and false religion. I am Italian, born in Rome, so in theory I should have adopted a Greco-Roman paganism, but nothing transmitted to me the very strong mystical and esoteric component of Norse paganism. This is why I wear Mijolnir.

  • @keithdrummond1003

What does it mean to me?
A few years ago I found out much of my family on my father's side are Finnish.
I'm adopted, so it took some time to find this out.
While looking at the culture I was surprised to find people that follow the Norse path of beliefs.
I've never felt a pull toward any belief system until then.
That's when I began wearing my Mjolnir.

So the the old Norse ways are popular in Finland are they? Well Finland is in Scandinavia so makes sense, although not really Norse. I also wonder how popular the native Finish myths are in Finland and whether people wear Ukkos hammer.

@@therideinmidgard Oh, wow. No. I didn't mean to misrepresent. I've no idea how wide spread old Nordic beliefs are there.
I meant that in my research I found people that do. It was very surprising to me. So, that caused me to begin research into Norse pagan beliefs.
I've only ever been exposed to Christianity, and I never really took to it. I'm not sure why.
I found out my biological father practiced Nordic beliefs, but I don't know to what extent.
He passed away before I could inquire.
The aspects of Norse pagan that interest me are the Land Spirits and Vanir.

Hi, many people wear jewellry with runes and tattoos of runes and I haven't ever heard of this being disrespectful. Some understanding of the meaning of the runes would show respect and may be wise as they are considered to have effects on people, and have been used in charms and curses.
I don't think it's disrespectful to wear jewellery with jormungandr, however maybe worth considering what jormungandr is and why you want to adorn yourself with this creature. Some people in heathenry do not invoke the enemies of the gods and would not wear jewellery with Loki or Fenrir, but then others do so. My opinion is to consider what the energy is of the spirit that we are adorning ourselves with and would we want to invoke that energy. I guess you have your reasons for wanting to wear jewellery with jormungandr.

The radical metal types actually hurts the true meaning of mjoinir.
I wear a mjoinir around my neck to 'remind' me that there is more out there than we know AND we have a divine spirit (our life force). Mjoinir is a symbol of that life force.
But, I also believe in the Father, Mother, and the Christo.
I DO NOT believe in the Roman Catholic Church and its dogma. I believe the Bible has been changed so many times. I DO NOT worship Yahweh ( the devil).
Polytheism answers alot of questions. If you go back far enough, the Norse believed in one creator (male and female) of all things and a multitude of demigods/angels (created by the creator). That is my belief.
    I actually believe in reincarnation.
So.. what does that make me?
