How to Turn Off a Smoke Alarm, Smoke Detector Beeping Every 30 Seconds

If you have a smoke detector beeping every 30 seconds or so, here are some tips to help you stop it from chirping or beeping.
You will, of course, want to make sure there's no fire. That's the most important step before you try to silence it.
The main trick that works is holding down the test button for a few seconds. If that doesn't work, you'll need to discharge it.

I know first look for a fire then if it's hardwired turn of the power to the smoke alarms then take it off the base then take the battery out hen clean it out or you just can push the hush putton then clean it out if it's a low battery replace the battery then but it back on the base plug it in turn the power back on then your good to go!! :) WARNING!!!! TURN OFF POWER FIRST AND BE CAREFUL WITH ELECTRICITY

HERES THE SOLUTION: THIS THING WAS PISSING ME OFF ALL MORNING. FIRST TURN OF THE SMOKE ALARM FROM MAINS. NEXT TAKE OF THE COVER BY USING A FLAT HEAD SCREW DRIVER TO WEDGE IT OPEN. FINALY REMOVE THE BATTERY FROM THE COVER AND CHUCK THE WHOLE THING IN THE BIN.

my former neighbor asked me to help her shut off her smoke alarm she claims it was sounding as a smoke alarm while the fire was flaming but not when there was visble smoke and it seems to only be function as a co alarm during a visble smoke condtion well I am a smoke alarm researching it probably would have been an expected reaction that it cannot respond to visble smoke ! saying 10 years batteries is good means you are not up to date on current reserach so perhaps some cities are not up to date on it do you not know the CDC came out with a report that says 10 years alarms dont last 10 years !!!!
