You know, there are lots of Jinjer fans who don't like proggressive transformation of the band's sound. And what is the most curious - not only the old Jinjer fans who knew the band from the beggining. Some new fans also listent to the new Jinjer songs and think that it's to progressive but then they dive deeper, discover oldschool Jinjer and like it way more.
On the other side some guys are bored a bit when they are listening to Jinjer's old tracks. Those who prefer complexity, tricky time signatures and unorthodox song sctructures.
The truth is that musicians of the band practiced a lot and become way more skillfull than in the beggining. And they are actually bored to play simple music as well. They almost never perform their old stuff live nowdays. Mostly not because of the lineup changes (Tatiana, Eugene/bass and Roman/guitar are still in the band). They are just don't think that it'd be interesting.
Obviously you will like most of their stuff from the first two albums (Inhale Don't Breathe and Cloud Factory). And additionaly some of their songs from King Of Everything. Most popular songs are (chronologically):
    - Exposed as a Liar (the very first Jinjer's OMV, Scissors was second)
    - Destroy (live at Bestiarium)
    - Outlander (I suggest "live" from "Failure .Color", considering it's OMV, and official live)
    - Cloud Factory (OMV and official live)
    - Who's Gonna Be The One (official live, but if you'll check out the studio version you'll find it's different and pretty cool too)
    - No Hoard Of Value (lyrics video is a fire)
    - Желаю Значит Получу (OMV, without any cleans and lyrics in Russian)
    - Captain Clock (I prefer live at Ressurection way more then studio sound)
    - Words of Wisdom (OMV and official live)
    - Just Another (OMV)
    - Sit Stay Rollover (OMV and live from Melbourne)
And not sure but you can also try:
    - Under the Dome
    - Dip a Sail
So here's 10+ very solid oldschool Jinjer's tracks sorted chronologically which will fit more to your musical taste than their current stuff.
One clever person once said that complex progressive music like their latest Jinjer's records sometimtes take a time and effort to get it. But that kind of music rewards your efforts later. I think it's true.

This is very true. I began with their slightly more modern music, but I love jazz, so it instantly appealed to me. I began backtracking through their work and that appealed to my metalhead side. Dmitry leaving definitely changed their structuring, but I don't see their talent ever fighting. They have always been amazingly cohesive, but the construction of their music has changed dramatically.

This song was released in 2012. They were a 5 piece then, with Tati ,Roman, and Eugene all in the band then. The other guitarist , Dmitriy Oksen, left in 2015 and wasn't replaced. They went through 4 drummers before Vlad joined.

Tati, Eugene the bassist, and Roman the guitarist are the longest served members of Jinjer, there are actually no original members left. The last original member Dmitry Oksen (the guitarist in this video with the Angus Young suit) left to pursue acting. Dmitry cameos in their video for Disclosure as the interrogator. The band really changed dynamic once Vlad the drummer joined, he's classically trained in piano and brings a ton of music theory knowledge.

I like that you're going through the evolution of Jinjer first to see how far they've come. Also, you may enjoy watching Eugene's (bass), Roman (guitar), and Vlad's (current drummer) playthroughs. For a couple of older songs check out "Cloud Factory official live video" and "Outlander"

Good reaction! Old Jinjer is really cool. You really need to check out "Outlander" and "Cloud Factory" from their first album. I'm an old metal head too, and I have been listening to them for a couple years now and I love them. They're the perfect modern metal band. I've never felt the band members compete with each other, the one thing with Jinjer is the song always comes first. You'll really enjoy this journey.

JINJER - Желаю значит получу (I want it I'll get it) Official Tour Video 2014. You mentioned in a previous reaction you wanted to see a video where it went full blast the whole time with extreme vocals. This 2014 one is one of those. Tati sings in Russian the whole video so it adds a real aggressive flavor to it. You won't be disappointed. No clean vocals, lots of speed, aggression and pit action. The video doesn't show up often in Jinjer searches which is too bad as it is a real banger.

Man im with you i am 52 years old and an old school metal head and i so love this band..anywhere you go with this band is gonna be a great journey ... as far as current members, 3 of the four are in this video.. tati and roman(guitar) and eugene(bass) are current this drummer.... who is amazing fell out of a window and couldnt play anymore.. and if you watch some of the older stuff youwill see dimitry who was a fill in drummer (I speak astronomy, sit stay roll over) and some other stuff is another amazing drummer.... but they really hit their stride with Vlad(current drummer) who is a classic trained Pianist and guitar player... he has videos from him playing romanchov on piano to playing pantera on guitar.... he wrote like 11 of the 13 songs on their new album wallflower..... absolute perfection of an album......

It's kind of unusual for a band to have this many fan favorites from this many years ago. Outlander, Cloud Factory (there is a live version with present lineup but the official video is from the old lineup), Sit Stay Roll Over is from the same album as Pisces but it still more like old Jinjer, No Hoard of Value is also good.

If this is your thing, you'll love the "Inhale do not breathe" album, especially "Exposed as a liar". I sure like this very much, true bangers. Next you'll want to check out "Outlander OMV", as the Cloud factory album is a step up from this, a lot of great music.

You will enjoy the older stuff for sure if you want to hear the thrashy Metalcore songs. They have gotten into the proggy stuff as they have matured and grown into their talent. I still think you would like Sit, Stay, Roll Over. It features the drummer right before Vlad, Dmitry, his insane pace makes that song worth a listen. Keep going, you won't run out of material anytime soon 💪

Jinjer is currently my favorite band and I too am an old school punker/thrasher metalhead and yes jinjers older stuff resonates with me,it took me a few listens to get into their latest release (wallflower)and altho their drummer Vlad is a fucking beast of a drummer I prefer their previous drummers mantulin and dmitri kims drumming style...I would like to suggest this gem of a live performance of "When two empires collide"that jinjer did at a small club, the drummer here is dmitri kim and he is really on point here if you like old school no nonsence kikass drumming!! ua-cam.com/video/e4oZU2RpVRM/v-deo.html

Not a mistake to stick with some old stuff for a while. Outlander is fun, the most popular video being the one uploaded by "Failure .Color" though the official live is good too there are some things happening around them as they perform that take some people out of it. Destroy is a song that Tati inherited from their original vocalist Maksym, then brutally owned - the Beastarium recording session video is best. Exposed as a liar is pretty prog though with some vocals that sound like they should performed in a sequin dress in front of a black-tie audience, mixed with death growls as one does. Cloud Factory is fire, I'd go with the official video from 2014, or a double-feature with the official live from after Vlad joined. No Hoard Of Value official lyrics video is powerful - they are from the Donbass which is a coal and industrial region of Ukraine similar to the Ruhr in Germany or Pennsylvania in the US. Captain Clock either official lyrics or Resurrection fest or a a double feature.

Yeah, I prefer older Jinjer myself. I really like the official live version of "Cloud Factory". There's a filmed live version that is synched to the studio track of "Outlander" that really bangs. And, I really like the video of "No Hoard of Value" which I think is probably one of their more vicious tracks. It gives me goosebumps every time.

The thing with Jinjer as a band is that they exist in the current form in spite of a lot of factors. They are kind of the band that shouldn't really be, but is. When a lot of these types of bands become bigger, the less heavy, angry and aggressive their records get because that's where the bulk of the return on investment lies. Labels and fans into pop reallllly like to push for the poppier side of a frontperson like Tatiana and the metal fans are the opposite - they want to hear the heavier stuff. Mike Patton is honestly the only other person I have seen be as versatile as this woman and be able to weave through vocal styles like they do.

I like the older stuff from them, King of Everything and Cloud Factory are my favorite albums. First band to have the "Cowboys From Hell" wow effect on me since Pantera broke out with that album. I still haven't been able to find a good copy of the "Inhale, Do Not Breathe" album.

In no way do the band members try to outdo each other. This band forgoes solos and is famous for how synchronized they are. They are though very proggy, especially the last couple of albums.

    • @hemlock399
      @hemlock399 2 роки тому +1

I agree with this...they actually seem to me to be excellent at serving the song rather than their own egos. I guess it could seem otherwise to someone who's not use to their proggier, more technical stuff.

I also love old Jinjer a little bit more. Especially compared to their newest stuff. They became way too progressive and experimental for my taste. While I still love some of their new stuff, i find myself skipping more and more than I should. Personally, i think King of Everything is their best album, perfectly balancing the transition period between early, more straightline, melodic and standart and the new more instrumental, jazzy and proggy stuff.
