i swear everything that feels good or tastes good is never good for you.
"Good" and "bad" feelings are all relative. I've been taking nothing but cold showers for the past 4 months and I feel great. Now hot showers feel "bad" to me
JoeOf91 it's honestly true. Pizza? Tastes great, awful for you. Fruit? Tastes pretty good, but even it is packed full of sugar and too much of the more sugary fruits like grapes or apples is bad for you. Vegetables? Taste awful and they're great for you. It pretty much evens out across the board - there are few good tasting foods that don't have substantial drawbacks for your physical health.
Russell Westbrook it's about proportions. White bread is empty carbs. Fruits have sugar but along with that sugar you get nutrition. Donuts is still sugar and fat but no nutrition. So your daily sugar intake is filled up by the unhealthy foods and the rest of the daily needs aren't filled, so to fill those up you'll get the extra sugar as well
C Mahoney no, I'm just a normal human being who recognizes that vegetables taste like crap. Unless you smother them in butter, salt, pepper, or do other things to alter the taste, they don't taste good. Not saying that you shouldn't eat them or anything but for someone to actually like vegetables like they would like a slice of pizza just doesn't happen. How would that make me six? Quit reachin
Oranges taste good.

Seriously though, ‘it squeezes all the lactic acid out’ is a pretty gross misunderstanding of how the human body works. Lactic acid build up is largely intracellular, and blood vessels have little control in how much can be transported because it has to be transported across a membrane via proteins. You can’t just squeeze it out through the sheer force of vasoconstriction lol. Don’t get me wrong, the general idea that cold has therapeutic benefits is surely correct, but his ‘science’ behind it is questionable. By the way, fun fact - and I’ll leave a link to this below, when I was studying biomedical sciences this one professor was absolutely adamant about it - we’re not actually sure that lactic acid is a cause of or just a by-product of muscle fatigue, or whether it even has anything to do with it. It’s one of those things that got picked up and perpetuated by the media based on preliminary findings (I think it was something to do with findings like lactic acid building up everywhere except heart muscle, which naturally doesn’t fatigue, ergo, lactic acid must cause fatigue etc), but most biomedical scientists aren’t completely convinced. The evidence was pretty poor and there’s lots to the contrary nowadays. It’s a good indicator of fatigue in sports science, but that’s not to say it’s responsible for it. And in 20 years time when it gets debunked in the public eye once for all, no doubt everyone will be saying ‘scientists got it wrong!’ when in reality most of those in the field haven’t believed this for decades now.

I stood in the shower and just turned the water on and the moment it hit me my breath actually got knocked out and I started hyperventillating. Had to turn that hot water on pretty quick. I can only take a cold water shower after slowly easing into it from hot water.

It's also been recommended as treatment for anxiety. For the last 30 seconds of your shower, turn the water as cold as possible, then focus on keeping your breathing the same. Over time, it teaches your brain to control your breathing even when you're body is distressed.

Thankyou for serving and sharing you're knowledge.
I don’t know about lactic acid excretion, but cold showers do shock your brain into waking up, not only making you shower faster but you’ll be happier afterwards as you’re more alert and you’re subconsciously happy that you’re out of what was perceived as a hazard (which in turn makes you happier).
And the water bill

@the3-dkiller1 When I served my country, I had 15 minutes to sh!t, shower and shave, it was up to me where I spent the 15 minutes, now I'm out of the shower in 3 minutes, hot or cold.
I hiked in the Andes mountains near Lima Peru and our native guide didn't think I could handle getting into the mountain stream. We were about 13K feet and I went in and swam a while. He took pictures to show his friends because they wouldn't believe him if he told them that a white person from the North was swimming in their river like they do. It was definitely cold and didn't bother me at the time but I did it later in the afternoon before bed and couldn't get warm the rest of the nite while sleeping in the tent. I should try doing the shower thing and see how it goes.
When I did construction (especially installing fiberglass) we always showered with cold to start before opening the pours with hot water then finish with cold again to close the pours. Not sure if there is any legitimacy to it but you felt damn good after lol
I’ve done a lot of work in drywall plants (same issue, getting covered with fiberglass). Also heard that, and also always questioned if it was legit. I did try it a few times but my research was inconclusive.

So much knowledge and in only 53 seconds, now that’s refreshing.
Now that kind of clear powerful exclamation will change me. Thank you so much!
I started doing this a month ago and my results are:
1. I look younger in the face, bags under the eyes = gone.
2. Less acne, I think it's because a hot shower opens pores, soap cleans them, cold water closes them so you're not sweating after a shower thus leaving you cleaner.
3. Muscle recovery is faster.
4. More and stronger erections ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
5. I actually feel better after a shower, like he said, it wakes you up where as a hot shower relaxes you.
So I take hot showers and at the end, turn it down a little bit, let my body adjust (30 seconds), then turn it down a little bit more, then once I hit ice cold, I try to rough it for 3 minutes but it's difficult. I focus on back, arms, face (not hair), and chest. Once I get out, I open the bathroom door so that I dont open my pores up again. Back-acne = almost fully gone. It's amazing...
This sounds like a good idea. Mind if I ask, how does opening the door stop pores opening up, and how many times a week would you shower?
Opening the door lets the steam out. You want to end on cold, then turn off the shower, open the door, and get out of the bathroom as soon as possible because it's hot and steamed up. If you body gets warm again, then your pores open back up and you start to sweat.
I shower 1-2 times a day.
Thank you, that makes sense. I was sort of thinking after 3 minutes of cold water at the end that most of the steam would of cleared out, but I guess the bathroom would still be steamy. Am definitely going to try this, will just have to work up the courage.
Also think heard that because some places put chlorine in the water having hot showers can be a bit more unhealthy because when it turns into steam we start inhaling the chlorine and maybe other stuff.
Don't just go from hot to cold, slowly back it down to cold, and when it gets super cold, focus on your breathing and just relax; your body will immediately want to go into shock but don't let it, just soak it in and plan your next move mentally like, "okay now I'm going to water my arms, then my back, then my chest, etc.". Getting acne off my face, back, arms, and chest has been priceless. I wish I knew this shit when I was a teenager...
Oh wow I didn't know that about chlorine. I just goggled it and yeah, my state puts chlorine in the water so that's good to know. I'm definitely going to look up inhaling chlorine though, thanks for that.

I needed a longer intro, a few product ads in the middle followed by an even longer message reminding me to like, subscribe, and check out his Spotify channel at the end to really enjoy this better.
LOL!
Don't forget a click bait like "for the first time ever" or "you'll be amazed how simple it is", some BS like that.

Peter Danville, Jr Its because as long as a someone seems like they know what they are talking about in a comment, people will gravitate towards it
Yaboy it could potentially give you a heart attack like it did me. I was taking a hot shower (like most people do) and went to turn it off but didn't turn it all the way so it was ice cold. I fell to the floor, luckily out the shower, And my body readjusted it's temperature. don't try this
so which one do you believe? a random UA-cam video or a real study by scientists? www.bbc.com/future/story/20161209-do-athletes-need-to-take-ice-baths
A cold shower is not a cold bath of 25 minutes.
Adamast I read ice baths and stopped their...
You do realize "cold water" is different to a ice bath.

Well, when cold water touches the skin, blood vessels shrink instantly at the surface of the skin. Then more heat and blood supply goes to inner body. In Russua we call in "quenching". This reflex help to develope resistance to cold. However, it only lasts for 10-15 minutes. After that the body will start loosing heat.
Thats cool to know man!
You Russians are a tough breed
Who else just randomly got this in their recommendations
I promise I just did lol I was like WTF

@Alex Never thought of it that way but you are right.
@Alex cold water does work...these people have millions invested in them in training and are the product of that training and are therefore qualified to lead others

My first cold shower made me realise I can scream f*** in couple of different tongues.

Guitarfollower22 well it's not saying 'dont take hot showers', it's saying that you should end your regular showers with a few minutes of cold water.

On the other hand, it doesn’t hurt you when you are NOT doing it while living a reasonably normal life, and you don’t torture yourself in doing it, on a daily basis at that.
Thanks for the info!
