I love the pronunciations but the bits that relate the history or the novel are my favorite! Thank you for these videos.
You have excellent presentation and energy.
I really appreciate what you've done and provided with pronunciation of these historical monoliths that have been made so fantastical by the Dynasty Warriors series. The game series was a stepping stone or what spurred a curiosity and love in me for the incredibly deep history of China and surrounding area's.
I would eventually fall in love with the sounds of the erhu which although I consider myself an amateur, it is the first instrument I bought and play. For those unfamiliar, the erhu is the common instrument the character Diaochan is seen playing in many of the cutscenes.
The company that localizes the games and series in the west need to credit you for all this great information!
Been a Dynasty Warriors fan since I was 6. Thank you for this video as I always knew that the names were never pronounced right since the 3rd title. Xiahou Dun was always my favorite character.
dynasty warriors 9 was very different from the other games, a lot of people did not like the pronunciations and voice actors because they felt like it was a downgrade from the previous titles.
Thanks again for yet another great informative video. The extra details on some characters was quite entertaining and informative as well.
Tour a white man's slave. Asian
李典 has both characters third tone, so the first character is pronounced with second tone instead, like 李小龙 is also first character second tone since it is followed by 小 which is third tone
Thanks for the update :) love from Canada
Great video!! YESS i love these!!!
Thank you for the facts!
Really Love This Content! Especially Since Im A Big Fan Of Dynasty Warriors 😆
wow i had no idea cao pi made zhen ji take her own life... the games made you think they were a power couple in real life.. but then again cao pi always seemed full of himself so its not wholly surprising.
Yay another dynasty warriors video
Speaking of Lu Bu and Chen Gong i absolutely love the scene in DW6 where Lu Bu strikes at Chen Gong for talking to much when both are on horseback. My most hilarious scene in all of Dynasty Warriors. LUL There is one character i see from time to time i really wanna hear the correct pronounciation: Hu Che Er
❤❤❤ Amazing video
Your videos are amazing ❤ love from india 🇮🇳💖
谢谢,老师!
谢谢🙏
Drama Zhang He is definetly better than DW Zhang He 😂
Thank you for making a video about my fav franchise ♥
wow you are a master of languages
Two people that share the same ancestors are: Siblings(parent), Cousin(grandparent), Second Cousins(great grandparents), Third cousins (great great grandparents), etc. If the generation is different, you use a suffix of “[once, twice,thrice,etc]-removed” bases one how far apart you are from the same generation, except in the case of siblings where uncle/aunt/niece/nephew is used. For example, my “first cousin once removed” is either my grandparent’s great grandchild(they’re in a later generation), or my grandparents sibling (they’re in an earlier generation).
i change VA with chinese for DW9 n its feel great
8:14 Thank you ❤
I hope all teachers In school doesn't wear uniform but dress like her. It somehow give a vibe that learning is cool and not boring.
Please do a movie review of the Last Emperor
Chinese R is like
RZHRZH
sometims it's just R mostly it's ZHR sometimes even RZHR
i think they do that to distinguish R from L, N.
I think that's just because the Hanyu Pinyin R initial is another retroflexive consonant like Hanyu Pinyin's ZH, CH and SH. Some speakers of other Sinitic varieties that don't have the same sound as HYPY's R initial might use L or Z as an approximate, which leads to a fair bit of confusion haha
LIan Shi is actually an unusual case, because we have her full name, which is a little uncommon in this patriarchal society. Her full name is Bu Lianshi. In fact, the primary historical source, of which the Romance of the Three Kingdoms is based off of, calls her simply Lady Bu. It was only a later source that gave us her given name of Lianshi. So later historians pieced them together and realized they were the same person.
Also was Wen Yang 7 entries and 7 exits were at a much later battle in 255. Wen Yang wasn't even alive for Changban. Changban was in 208. Wen Yang was born in 238.
My friend's and I were discussing how to pronounce Madame Xiu's name on Deceive Inc. How would you pronounce it?
Jessie you are looking so good
Aww thank you! 💗
You should be an actress because of your personality and beauty.
10:51 John Wayne. Leo's Fender family was under attack?
Dynasty Warriors 9 actually also has full Chinese Dubs for the first time in the series history. I'm curious how highly do you rate those dubs?
mandarin native speaker here: I haven't played DW9 but at least WoLong's dubs are pretty standard and sound natural to me, unlike the weird "mandarin-like-language"(not only pronunciation but even the grammars are sometimes incorrect) spoken in some hollywood movies years ago
It's done by talents from mainland voice acting companies so, as a native speaker I can rate 10/10. But the problem comes from the translated script. As it has being translated and localized from the original Japanese counterpart, although mostly accurate, some words and sentenses are still considered weird because they are taken directly from literal Japanese translation and thus people find these parts are not localized very well.
actually dw3 got a chinese dub as well, but i'm pretty sure it was an unofficial release in taiwan
isnt 華 pronounced with the fourth tone when used in surnames?
the problem with pronouncing is it feels really awkward to do the *"chinese accent"* in the middle of speaking english 😭😭
Yeah
@@I_love_bacons nless i speak the english also with a chinese accent 😭😭
@@PCs454 lol
We all have that issue. Because the language is so different.
If you're comfortable saying it the correct way already, then it doesn't feel awkward. If you're still struggling to say it naturally then it will definitely feel awkward. I'm ABC so i'm used to interweaving Cantonese words into my English and vice versa.
The original pronunciation for Pang De’s name in the Dynasty Warriors series was so off base, that being Pang Day
Wen Yang in DW9 compared to the game before isn’t as cool honestly, mainly because each character in 8 had their own unique weapon, however in 9 some characters had to share weapons. In 8 Wen Yang had a Javelin, meanwhile in 9 he shared this weird blade weapon called a Guillotine Sword with Zhou Cang and Sun Ce
Hello Jessie, i like the way you pronounce (almost) all of the Dynasty Warriors character. Hmm, do you know a movie called The Day The Earth Stood Still starring with Keanu Reeves. There was a scene where Keanu spoken in Chinese (not sure it was mandarin or not). Maybe you can give keanu score about his chinese pronounciation ,thanks.
its a remake! have you seen the original? because the original is really really good and i like the remake
@@BradleyParkerbrad676 i didn't know it was a remake
@@michaelkara3436 well then there's a new movie to add to your watchlist!
@@michaelkara3436 yup, its a remake. The original came out in the early or mid 50s.
she or Rita did an analysis of Keanu's Chinese.
Spoiler: painful to one's ears....
I love how zhen ji's name also sounds like steamed chicken in Mandarin.
The hardest thing for me to understand are the differences between the X and Sh sounds, it seems the same
Can you please tell me where you bought your blouse? I need it!!
It's a dress of an Italian brand Save the Queen
Second tone for STATEMENTS definitely exists in Canadian English, I blame Hong Couver
That's true that you don't really hear this falling tone in statements in places where there are few, if any, non-British Isles/Loyalist immigrants. Then again, I'm a city slicker, so I wouldn't know. I'm unwilling to believe it's because of Chinese immigrants, at least entirely - I bet Punjabi and African immigration have played a part too. This is based on experience in Quebec, though, so maybe it's different elsewhere. Also, French puts stress on the last bit of a word, and it often sounds like a falling tone to anglophones. Maybe they adopted that from having enough exposure to know what it sounds like but never enough to learn it?
Forget the switch! Where did you get that top?
It's a dress from the Italian brand Save the Queen
@@ChinesewithJessie thank you! So gorgeous

Ok, and how do I pronounce Ming-Na Wen? 😁
Yipee Yahoo
How about Lu Yusheng? How to write her name in chinese and how to say her name? Part 3?
Do you think you can give the correct pronunciation for the characters in Avatar The last Airbender?
Dose anyone like me here wonder how Jessie learns English? Her English speaking is sooo good.
the mispronunciation of Cao as Tsao most likely came from the Japanese pronunciation of the word, the Dynasty Warriors franchise and Wo Long were developed by a Japanese company after all so some would play with the Japanese voice lines and hear it from there
Tsao is literally cao's equivalent in Wade-Giles
I think my name is self explanatory for my favourite character hahaha
I wish they had pronounced these correctly in DW. I have been playing forever and now have the wrong pronunciations drilled into my brain. They have fixed some, like Cao Cao, but if they could just have gone through a little more effort, then I could pronounce these names as good as you by now.
always wondered why they made Zhang He so feminine
Your hair is curly??,
You hear what you want to hear - so when you say Si Ma Shi i hear one simple word - smash 😅
Completely random question. Is that real hair?
Haha yes, it's a perm though.
On Man Chong, you need to tell people that when you have two third tones (dipping than rising) consecutively, the first character is pronounced with a second tone (rising). Your intonation did not match what was written. Like “Ni hao?” It’s difficult to do two third tones anyway.
Your definitely looking very beautiful today.
how u say Wu?
