@@TheSoxor123 It's not complaining. It's called providing customer feedback. We go back and forth with manufacturers until we find the middle ground where both parties benefit, it is the law of economics. PC or console player, don't forget your right as a customer to give bad feedback.
It all depends on your needs and budget, if the 5000 series is 1.5-2x faster it will be more expensive than current gpus at least upon release.
No matter when it is released, there won’t be any cards available for an affordable price! Mark my words. They will be expensive.
The problem with the 5080 is it will probably get scalped immediately so if you want it you just have to buy a FE right at launch and hope for the best in terms of early adopter problems or miss out on future deals if a Ti version drops or a nice AIB version. On top of that who knows what will happen with china, based on what ive seen it looks like america will continue the trade war since they are sanctioning chinese banks now and they were talking about GPU tariffs earlier. Really frustrating situation, i wish they would let us know the whole product stack so we could decide to wait or buy now.

It hurts. There's another person I follow. She does this mic and headphone setup where she doesn't move the entire gameplay Makes me so uncomfortable. My neck hurts watching. I mean, like two hours straight, not moving at all Her head in any way shape form of fashion just stuck right there on the mic. If you're considering a 4k, 240hz monitor, would be a good idea to wait for 50 series because of display port 2.1 which isnt on 40 series; especially for 80, 90, high end series cards if you want high fps
I bought an MSI 4070 Gaming X a few months ago, and after selling a couple older cards it only cost me $250. I'm very happy.
Agreed, there's never a good time to buy pc parts. There will always be a better deal so you might as well just buy now and enjoy your card in the meantime.

It's not even at the prices that the cards should be at. The 3080 released at a price of $699 US, now the exact same line-up next gen gpu launched at like 1200. The 4080 super getting reduced to $999 is fucking awful. Nobody should be buying this overpriced shit.

@@AirBRUH As a gamer I agree 100%. I have a 3080TI and I still pretty much max out every game. Games are made with consoles in mind and PS5 didn't exactly set the bar very high.
As datamining goes I have no clue. They are probably the ones who are well invested in buying these cards at these prices anyway. For a gamer? any 4000 series will be more than anough. I'd say even 3070 is good enough until the new console generation arrives.

I'm currently running a laptop with a 1060 6gb so when I do build a desktop this year I'll be satisfied with pretty much anything
I mainly play the newest RPGs and JRPGs and majority of them run well at ultra settings on my GTX 1080. So basically I don't even feel any urge to upgrade yet. Plus my GTX 1080 is sitting comfy in a super airflow full tower case, which means ultra low temperatures all the time for everything inside.

The RTX 5060 is going to have a minimal spec bump according to leaks, and we are likely not going to get it until next year. If you're a budget gamer I'd watch out for RDNA 4 instead, since its going to be focusing on the budget market. Even the 5080 is going to be disappointing, leaks for that say its not even faster than the 4090. Blackwell is a skipit generation. Just get a used Ampere card, or wait for RDNA 4. Running dual 3090 Ti FE's in SLI/NVLink is still faster than the 4090.

I'm going to buy a 4090 now...I usually wait for AIO to come out and the FE will most likely sell out immediately and fall in the hands of scalpers/miners. By that time, 4090 will probably sell out as well because of the amount of people disappointed about not getting a 5080/5090 and settle until stock become more available.

I still rock a 1070 and not feeling a reason to upgrade. Nvidia is really milking the high end right now and with a recession on it's way I'm sure companies will have to drop prices sooner or later.
That probably won't happen price wise imo, definitely won't be surprised if the 5080 is above 1199 on launch. They are still way ahead in terms of users/adopters and will likely use "a.i." as an excuse to stay more expensive than the competition relative to actual performance

I just bought a 4070Ti Super. You probably gonna have to wait until 2025 before you can buy any of the lower spec GPUS anyway and tbh I don't think they are going to be a massive leap ahead.

I saw a rtx 4070 ti super pre built on sale for $1,600 that computer will last you a solid 5+ years.
My 3080ti will probably last two more years or so. Depends when the next generation of consoles arrives and how powerful it will be. I tnink it's kind of hard to make a compact all around station with good cooling at reasonable prices. Also the triple A games keep failing more often than not and they are the only ones that really push ones to buy new computers.

My gigabyte 4090 has annoying fan revving issues with its bios software. Will probably immediately upgrade to 5090 and LG 4k OLED and pray for no coil whine and better fan control.
I'm going to build a new PC next month since I've been using my 9700k but it's been struggling a lot recently in games.
If it's not a kazillion dollars over msrp; I'll certainly jump on the 5090 lol. I have a 6600XT since it was the card I could simply replace my RX580 with without worrying about anything else (only cost me 140 for a Nitro+ too lol)
I have a 3070ti and it plays hell divers at 90-100+ fps on 1440p high... just waiting another 3-4 generations. There's just no need to buy another for a while.
It's possible that the 5090 won't eventually melt like all 4090s do, so there is that

Try performance mode. Dx12 gave me lots of problems, I’m on a mobile 2060, much slower than your card but still. Performance just seems more stable, it’s worth trying.
@Waterschmelon I prefer it for the graphics and it's more stable that 11 but I've not tried performance mode yet. It was working fine until November. Every since the driver update around then I've had problems

The only cards to wait for are the 5090 and maybe whatever AMD’s better card is. The 4090 has been a terrible buy for many months now with the 5090 not that far away, but every Nvidia card below the 5090 will be too little uplift to bother with.
The top AMD card will probably finally make a modicum of ray tracing obtainable with 16GB at an okay price…if one cares about that sort of thing.
If you already have the 40 series, no. If you have the 30 series, maybe. If you have the 20 series, yes. If you have the gtx series, why not. The same applies to AMD.

I see no reason why someone with a 20 series or more recent GPUs to upgrade. 50 series will be worth if it can do Pathtracing in all cards! Otherwise, I'll just get one whenever GTA 6 or the PS6 comes out.

It depends on which GPU you are aiming for. If you want to buy a 5080 it is probably a good idea to wait a little because it could be launching soon. For 5070, 5070 Ti and below you could end up waiting until spring 2025 so I wouldn't do that.

We need to see prices and specs of the 5090 and 5080 first. The leaks and rumors don't line up to the speculations by our leakers. The way the data looks, GB202 will be used for both 5090 and 5080. The GB203 looks to be the 5070.
As for Radeon RX 8000 series, we need to see how Navi48 truly compares.
The way both sides look, Nvidia wants to uplift the performance per tier with little concern for consumer pricing. AMD is being budget conscious for consumers, which will cause the Radeon tiers to lag even further behind GeForce tiers. Using GDDR7 will aid in performance, but it will increase the price.
They won't be launching it this year.

Here is one mans simple, short words of advice.
If you skipped 40 series and simply need a new card wait.
If you don't need a new card the entire field is open, get a 40 series 30 20 10.
Or go AMD.
However you must keep this in mind all fingers you know rumors and so called leaked specs point to 5090 as the one that will not only be faster than the 4090, but is supposed to blow it out of the water.
With that said, keep in mind that most will be some percentage faster.
The only ones I see having a big question mark as to how little faster is the 5060 and below.
Also yeah these cards may look better in terms of price to performance, but the real question is how much better.
Nvidia is in this for the money folks, they care that you support them, not that your loyal to them, big difference.
So going off their track record I don't see them selling to much cheaper than what the 40 series did, you know where all the people were saying oh the 40 series would be affordable because the 30 series debacle.
No, no they were not, to this very day they really are not 4070s. And above, heck last I seen the 4060 is still a bit pricey, but it has that Nvidia secret sauce software goodies that you can't really take advantage of because it taxes the card to much.
So no I don't see them selling these things at a truly affordable price, they made their goat card and sold it cheap never again is what goes through Jensen's mind.
If you are waiting on AMD , well unless they are fibbing they are only putting out mid tier cards and lower.

Buy what you need - there's always something better coming up. Will get the 5090 and expect it to be the fastest, but also least-value-gpu-in-the-universe. But my case is special. Don't be wasteful with your money. Far better buy Nvidea shares than Nvidea video cards. $2K invested in Nvidea when the 4090 launched would get you $5.8K today - enough for a 5090 and a lot of pocket change!
You did not help much regarding the powerful cards, and you mentioned that there is a 5090 Ti card, and you told us about your expectations regarding the timing of the release of all cards except the 5090 ti card.

I just bought 4070s, its double the performance of my 3060ti and the extra 4gb of vram should do me fine.
No complaints, even if it was about £100 more than I wanted to pay, its quiet, efficient and a small 2 fan card.
I will however keep an eye on the market and look to sell it if the new 5 series is really worth it and I don't lose too much money on it.
