Omg tthank you so much. 2nd time cutting my hair and I'm getting annoyed because they aren't working right. Saw the screw and came to UA-cam to find a video. You fixed it. Thanks!
Phawkin THANKS !!! could not find instruction ,manual .. and was pulling on the hairs on my neck OUCH.. 2 clicks here, and 2 mins and THEY ARE GREAT ....PEACE
Conair clippers are pretty good for the price. The quality of there clippers are improving. I have a set with the arm as in the video, surprisingly no adjustment screw.
Their instruction manual is really crappy when talking about how to adjust the power screw - they say you have to before you use it, but the instructions they give say something along the lines of "turn counter-clockwise until the click, then turn clockwise until the noise stops" - what noise??? I see NOW that you're meant to have it on as it's adjusted, but people who haven't really used one will read it and probably get confused and wonder if it's a good idea or not, since they don't really know what the screw is physically doing - at least, that's how my mind works. No one wants to ruin their new appliance right? just couldn't help but notice, with the instruction booklet alone it isn't clear what "noise" they're talking about. Thanks for the video, though. I'm paranoid with anything like this when I don't know if what I'm doing could cause damage if done improperly, maybe I'm just paranoid, but I've found out the hard way in the past, haha... sometimes trial and error can cost a lot, too.
I've been using mine to cut my dogs hair, thick, and now plugging it in I get zero sound/vibration like it's dead. Do you think I burned it out? It's relatively new and in good shape, I was just wondering if there's a "clog-sensor" - or something, and read about overload switches - and then came here with the power screw. If the power screw is adjusted wrong, got turned into a bad position, will it then not even fire up when you hit the ON switch in the first place? Thanks for your time and video.
Unplug the clipper and open it up to remove any clogged hair. You might have to remove the cutting plates. Yes it's possible the motor is fried, but check the other first.
dude, you have this just a little wrong here, But its an important point, You want to keep turning counter past all the chatter and the chatter will get louder but then it will start to fade again, Then turn clockwise until it chatters and then back off a half turn, the way you are doing it is that you are clamping down on the motor prematurely, and this will cause it to get hotter faster, and less arc in the blade movement, so keep turning counter until you past the chatter then you have max movemt of the blade.
Thanks for watching. Before the Conair I had an Oster for 20+ years, a higher quality clipper. The Conair is OK, much better now that I know how to dial in power screw. 3-in-1 oil works fine; you don't need much. If your budget allows it, go with something like an Oster. It's more powerful, mowing through hair like a weed wacker.
Be careful doing that. I adjusted the power screw on a pair of hair clippers for my dog a few weeks ago and they were immediately rendered useless. They wouldn't cut for anything, regardless of how you tuned it, afterwards.
That's too bad. My experience was opposite: they were useless without adjustment. If they're under warranty you might get replacement. Thanks for watching.

Yes the pulled hairs also led me to power screw adjustment. Glad it helps.

Thanks for posting.
Thank you for this. I had no idea that you could adjust that screw, thought my clippers were going bad although its only a month old.

Thank you sir. Absolute legend. I couldn’t figure it out.
I was about to send my new ones back due to not knowing about the screw and chattering. Ty 🙏🏼✌🏽
So no chattering, but mine chatters when turning on then no chatter

How would you rate the conair clipper...thinking of getting one...also do you recommend the 3 - in -1 oil

Thank you they work better than new
incredibly helpful thanks
Weird, usually you turn the screw clockwise to increase power or loudness,at least with my cheap Wahl clipper. But yours is opposite.
thanks for the video, realy help me out

Agreed. I've seen it happen. If it's not done correctly, it destroys the clippers.
