    After some of the comments on the video posted to Instagram, I feel like I need to pre-emptively state that this video is not calling for mass and unrestricted immigration - despite the fears of some people (or maybe they're just bots trying to stir up trouble?). I think Lithuania and Lithuanian culture is amazing and wonderful and this is something I highlight in many of my videos.
    But I'm also quite happy Lithuania isn't something like North Korea - a country that is cut-off and isolated from the world. The world can visit and invest in Lithuania, and Lithuanians can travel or migrate to other parts of the world too. That's generally a good thing... isn't it?
    As a foreigner living in Lithuania, I'm convinced there is a responsibility to learn the language, respect the culture, and honor the values of this country. And it's these things I will continue to discuss and try to communicate in my videos here and on the other channel.
    I hope everyone in Lithuania is having a good long weekend! If you're in Vilnius next Saturday (August 24), go check out the free festival! More information here: www.govilnius.lt/vilnius-is-my-city

    Vilnius went from being home to a handful of Lithuanians in a sea of Russians and Poles, to a handful of Lithuanians in a sea of whomever from wherever... 😄
    It is good to see that many foreigners manage to find a way to make themselves at home here, yourself included. Immigration is mutually beneficial for all of us, so long as it is done with RESPONSIBILITY and DIGNITY in mind. And it is most responsible and dignifying when a foreign person who comes here on their own volition understands that the pre-existing societal norms and overall culture takes precedent over their own and does their best to integrate into them while they live here. That enables people of many different backgrounds to work and live together in harmony, while failure to do so leads to a country becoming like Sweden where violence and crime runs rampant and society is being ripped in half and eroded due to polarization and negligence.

      @@bradleywoodworth3319 There are many impoverished people in Hungary. Because of this, there is a constant aggressive tension in many. From transportation to shopping, this always appears somewhere and every day. I don't experience that here. Also, there is no hatred of immigrants here. This cannot be said for Hungary. There are many other things, but it would take a long time to describe them.

    a city with like 700k people not including metro area its quite a lot for a country that has about 3m people, vilnius is like 25 percent of country population, but still not like RIGA in latvia which is literally 35 percent of whole latvian population haha, also i noticed that Vilnius became popular destination for indians, pakistan and nigerian people who try to enter country either with work visa or study here

    here in Šiauliai, i've seen a lot of people from the indian subcontinent. besides that there are obviously many black people and ukranian refugees. other than that, i believe that it's mainly slavic people's who are coming here: russians, belarusians and poles. and even though, the nordics are just a ship ride away from us, i haven't seen many of them or other europeans.

    While I'm all for qualified immigration with integration, I am vehemently against mass and undocumented third world migration that western Europe seems so fond of. We are a small nation, that sort of migration would kill us. We have to keep in mind that there are very few of us, and we need to protect ourselves from that. One look at Sweden is enough to see what we shouldn't do.

Otherwise you have to live out majority of your 10 years (6 months per year and up) as a registered resident to only then be able to apply, which isn't always a garantee, since you have to be at least prolific in A2 language levels, have stable income, posses no police or other law enforcement agencies reports on you within Lithuania and renounce your other citizenship.

      This is a legit point, but Vancouver is expensive. Like very expensive. If you're not earning a 6 digit salary (better 7 digit still), then it may be challenging to appreciate all the great things Vancouver can offer. Vilnius, on the other hand, while by no means cheap, is also by no means among the most expensive cities either, and with a decent salary one can have a pretty solid experience and life quality here. Depending on circumstances it is plausible that someone from Vancouver, even if not necessarily being poor there, can have better life in Vilnius.

      @BaconatorYummy 3 місяці тому

      @@DS.J I totally get what you're saying. I'm originally from Vilnius, but I spend around 4-6 months a year in Canmore. It's a beautiful place, but even with an average salary, I can't fathom how people manage with the high cost of living. I’ve only visited Vancouver once, and it's cool but when I looked into property prices there, I was stunned. Even pricier than Bow Valley area.
