It doesn’t hold up today, and I find it crazy that Warp Pipe Island gets removed and not this, but we have to accept that this track was monumental in custom tracks and keep it just for that reason.

5:26 I haven't played the track myself, but from what I'm seeing, fort francis does an incredible job at recreating the location from super paper mario! the visual style is perfectly replicated and there's so much attention to detail with recreating recognizable rooms. I genuinely can't think of any missed opportunities here. the fort francis version of the track is pretty new I think, but it was originally created for a CT jam a few years ago where it was called "when geeks custom track". back then it only consisted of the grass section without the castle. for context, fort francis is part of the game's third chapter, which takes place in an 8-bit styled dimension called the bitlands (which is why everything looks blocky), and fort francis serves as the castle/boss level for that chapter. the portal in the background is called "the void", and it was created by count bleck (the game's antagonist) to basically destroy all of reality. it appears in the background of every dimension in the game and grows over time, so the game centers around mario's journey to stop that looming threat.
some things annoyed me abt that track but yea it’s still a bit disappointing, hopefully this incentivizes ppl to reinvent the track (or me to learn how tf to make CTs)
Except for Warp Pipe Island the removals are very sad indeed. I miss the large upwards section at the end of the lap on Darkness Temple where you could jump off quite early to finish a lap if I remember correctly. Fort Francis looks really promising, this track completely flew under my radar. Toad's Temple rocks, literally. Toadette's Castle seems like many people will gamble at the end of lap 3 :) Volcanic Skyway is just as much of a throwback as Darkness Temple for me! Combining all the different track variations from back in the day to one track was a genius idea, just like Final Grounds. The Lava Road update is really good, this track definitely needed something along those lines. Choco Island 2 had a real glowup which I really appreciate!

I was gonna say Fort Francis is my favourite new track but then I saw Volcanic Skyway and my heart skipped a beat 😍😂 This remake was needed so much - the OG versions were already always such a blast!
I feel like the best from the update and most popular is going to be Toadette’s Castle it just feels very fun to drive and flows well, I will say volcanic skyway is my least favorite but that is because of the bar they set with this update. The removals hit me too Emil we need remakes of both of those tracks. And the 2 of the other 3 that got removed are so good too (Envenom Snowstorm, Unfinished) Anyway… Awesome video Emil keep it up!

4:04 Please for the love of God disable texture filtering option in dolphin if you have that enabled. The track looks a lot worse with blurry textures, when they were supposed to appear pixelly to give the feel of original game. Also i just did I minor update for it, im not the author
Honestly this is the most disappointing update... Just wish that Mushroom peaks gets remove, cus let's be honest here nobody and I mean NOBODY doesn't like mushrooms peaks. The track is to long and the mushroom are to janky.
The only reason it's still in is because people love to pick it just so it will stay in and they love it for the memes, not to mention Bean won't remove his own tracks at this point which is stupid, take Peaks out, then Six King Labyrinth and lastly Incendia Castle

It’s mostly visual stuff. The actual layout of the track wasn’t changed.
