You see the great thing about Berlin Byways is that there’s Whomps filling in sections of the Berlin Wall and that’s probably the funniest thing Nintendo’s ever done
@@Odyssey_CentralGet ready to hate it even *more* when I tell you the glider ramp is unnecessary. It only exists for the shortcut with the fan, but there's no way to avoid it like there is on Music Park...
One thing I love about Sunshine Airport in particular is the music. I don't really listen to the mariokart ost outside of playing the game, but sunshine airport is the only song I do actually listen to, it's just so energetic
My one complaint is with the cities. I understand why you don’t like them so much, but I think the unique premise with their laps is extremely strong and many of them stand out enough to be worth putting higher. Half of them are among the top 50% of the game for me, and I think that only two of them are actually bad (Paris & Tokyo) with three being only okay (New York, London, and Los Angeles). It just irks me that a lot of people just label the majority of cities as bad and move on
@@Potatomaster1005 I’ll agree that some of them are (the ones I listed in the original comment), but what about Sydney? Amsterdam? Singapore? Athens? Vancouver? They all do several cool and interesting things to stand out from each other and every other track in the game. And yes, I’m sure people would prefer other MK tracks (I would have as well honestly), but not only are the cities overall solid tracks to me, they’re also the reason we even had the BCP, and I think they’re worth more consideration than what it feels like most people give them, which is functionally none at all besides a few tracks.
@welcome2hi i see what you mean, but i agree to disagree. I don't really care for the city tracks, i just don't find them as interesting or unique as something like rainbow road
It’s finally here! The all-cups ranking! Just wanted to say, it was an absolute pleasure watching your series. I’m gonna greatly miss it 🥲 Oh well, I can always binge-watch them again 😆
Bell cup is easily my favorite cup in the game. I definitely dont think neo bowser city is a 50/50 split between loving it and hating it, generally people enjoy it from what I’ve seen. And I definitely like it, not even love it but it’s solid. Great theme even if it’s kind of simple apart from the slippery physics, which I enjoy the challenge of since I think they make the hairpin turns actually interesting to drive. Ribbon road like you said is easily one of the best retros in the series. Great theme, fun to drive, cool shortcuts. Big blue is obviously incredible. To be honest though I have one slight nitpick with it, I wish lap 2 went on a bit longer. It’s so fun but just feels over too quick, especially when for the last few seconds you’re just in a cannon glider. But super bell subway I think is hands down the most underrated track in the series. It’s similarly creative to tracks like sunshine airport or coconut mall, taking place in a subway station is a really cool idea. Visually it’s incredible, so many details with the subway terminal map, all the graffiti in the lower parts, and is just really pretty. The design is excellent, the twists and turns are really fun to take as are all the shortcuts, with alternate routes that let you drive on top of the trains. And the music is so SO underappreciated. The above ground theme isnt as bombastic or groovy as the more popular Mario kart songs but there’s something so nostalgic and bittersweet about it. It’s probably the only Mario kart song outside of a rainbow road that makes me genuinely emotional. Not to mention the great vibraphone and accordion solo the highlight reel version has, something that isn’t really that well known in the face of dolphin shoals’ famous sax solo doing the same thing, just admittedly better. And then the underground has the grooviness and fun more in line with regular Mario kart songs with that synth, and the bassline doing the underground theme is a really neat detail. All around this track is incredible and I feel has gone massively overlooked as the newer DLC tracks have gotten a lot of the hype (also being in the same cup as big blue could make pretty much anything just a bit overshadowed). SBS is my personal favorite course in this game, and though I don’t expect most people to like it quite that much I still think it doesn’t get nearly the credit it deserves.
The thing about the long empty roads in city tracks is that they weren't like that in Tour. They were usually filled with ramps and boost/glide panels and tokens, because this was one of the main mechanics of Tour, and there would be many variations of each course during each tour. It's like they just didn't know what to know with the base track without using 20 of those dang red ramps, and didn't want to commit to any specific version.
I know the coconut mall remake was kinda disappointing, but seeing shy guys do donuts in giant cars is funny. We need more shy guys doing cute things, darn it!
@@GamerzRusTrue. In MK7 they also had arrows, but those were also grey, like the escalators, so you only got the see them very late and if you were fast, it was very hard to switch to the other without bumping into the middle part.
True. Also if they did it like they did in Wii and 7, then the track would be a nightmare for 200cc. It's already hard to drive tracks with tlms of obstacles and off-road parts in 200cc, but even harder with movign obstacles. I lost count on how many times I hit a Wiggler on Maple Treeway in 200cc
I LOVE the Star Cup. Sunshine Airport gives Coconut Mall vibes, and is on par with it in quality imo, dolphin shoals is just kinda okay, elctrodrome is cool(pun entirely intended), and mount wario is also a lot of fun.
Agreed Racing around an Airport, a Party, and an Ice Mountain is best Mario Kart Cup Material. Dolphin Shoals is controversial, but I like for doing some tricks, and the sea creatures.
the only thing I hate about the remake of waluigi pinball is the fact that the waluigi statue in the original track had a 3d model of waluigi´s head, while in mk8d and mkt they changed it to a simple drawing that spins
Yeah, but even then the cities barely even look like their real life versions. Amsterdam drift for example looks more like Disneyland than it looks like real life Amsterdam.
Bruh, this is a shit take. The only city tracks that are lame are Tokyo Blur, Paris Promenade, New York Minute and London Loop, but the rest of them are creative and have good obstacles and aesthetics. The city track slander needs to stop!
@@haroeneissa790yea but using real life would those tracks go on*forever* so it some sense. Tokyo Blur is worse example. I enjoy them for the creative ideas and their music.
@@haroeneissa790Well, of course they're not gonna look like the real city. Wouldn't be great for a MarioKart course if they did. It's not meant to. Also, hot take for the original commenter: You shouldn't have had to go TO the cities to get true enjoyment out of these stages, and honestly, the novelty wears off fast
I personally never found the turns in Neo Bowser City hard at all. Then again, I played a lot of Mario Kart 7 back then, and Neo Bowser happened to be a popular pick for my friends. 200 cc is where the turns actually become a problem though, it makes 150 feel like you have the antenna on
I personally love the aesthetic. It reminds me a lot of Robotropolis or any mech stages from Sonic. I love futuristic city levels. But yeah on 200cc be ready to bust out the Biddy Buggy and rollers. Or even just the Standard Kart…
That turn near the end of Koopa City is quite easy when drift-braking. I only fall off when hit by an item in that spot. The only turn in the game that is still hard to pull off while drift-braking is the first loop in Rainbow Road.
I don't hate it, but it's still the weakest of the cup. I don't get the hate for Subway either honestly, cause it kinda gives me coconut mall vibes; not as much as Sunshine Airport, but I'd still put it just above average. The other 2 courses on the Bell cup though are enough for me to put it top 5 alone, like seriously Big Blue alone should be enough to bypass to top 10.
I also wanna add about Mt. Wario... The music is phenomenal, fantastic, sublime. It adapts to each section adding even more to that whole “journey” feeling. I don’t throw the word “masterpiece” to describe things a lot but Mount Wario is 100% one. They pulled all the weapons with this one.
Agree. Also the Shy Guy's skiing in the background and the lift taking them towards the top again. The background really lets the track feel like you are on an actual mountain and going down a skiing path.
25:17 As much as I love the older Rainbow Roads, having one anywhere other than the 4th track has always been weird to me and I'm glad you mentioned it.
Saying Neo Bowser City is boring and then one cup later telling Shroom Ridge entertaining blew my mind 💀 (But i respect all opinions, even the wrong ones)
I think the Bell Cup might be my favourite with Lightning being 2nd and Star being 3rd. I already did a track ranking but even if I didn't, Bell would still clear. Big Blue and Ribbon Road are top 10 tracks in the game, I'm on the 50% that loves Neo Bowser City and Super Bell Subway also being a big one for me. All the Lightning Cup tracks are A tiers and while the Star Cup has 2 As as well as Mount Wario's perfection, I have never gotten the hype for Dolphin Shoals personally.
The Bell Cup is my favorite as well. I love Super Bell Subway, it's my favorite track in the game. Big Blue is really epic and fun, Neo Bowser City is challenging and cool, and Ribbon Road is a solid track with great shortcuts.
I still love your videos, I think my favorite part and something that really stands out are the jokes and commentary in it. I'm watching all 35 minutes of it
I actually really like the Cherry Cup, Vancouver and Los Angeles are some of my favorite city tracks, Koopa Cape in this game is actually not overrated unlike the other Koopa Cape versions and Sunset Wilds is personally still really fine
Yeah I actually really like Las Angeles Laps and especially Vancouver Velocity as well. Koopa Cape, while still not quite as good as the original, is much better than the Mario Kart 7 and Tour versions. Sunset Wilds though? Well, it's not a bad track, but it's a terrible remake and is worse than the original in every regard, outside of the graphics.
@@avalonplemel8933as a los angeles resident, I can confidently say I hate Los Angeles Laps so I'm glad to hear you have more track-nationality pride lol
Me: Los Angeles Laps (6.5/10): This feels unnecessary since New York Minute is already an American City Themed track. Plus no Hollywood, and worse *no Bahs in the music now!* But the track looks pretty on Day time, the locals are nice, and Mario Sluggers. Sunset Wilds (6/10): One of the best tracks from Super Circuit is now just alright because *THE SUNSET IS GONE!* But I can’t hate because I still like racing on it. Koopa Cape (10/10): My personal favorite Mario Kart track ever, was weaken because it lost some stuff from Wii but the new stuff helps it out. The Music is also pure legend. I love the city tracks! So much fun and so much variety! Evreyone seems to not talk about the changing layout that adds so much replayability. I don't know why but I just have so much fun on them. Most Yourubers dislike them though probs because it came from a game they don't care for and alot of the criticism for the Cities can be applied to alot of other tracks but you don't see that too often as they have fun on those said tracks.
Can I just say that I really appreciate the way you do your rankings, I'm getting a bit tired of seeing so many of the other kind of ranking on the tiermaker website so keep up the good work with the worst to best ones 👍
My young nieces were watching me play Mario Kart, and even picked the courses I raced on. They loved Squeaky Clean Sprint so much that they wanted to pick it every time. They called it the "ducky," or something like that. So yeah, the cup it's in definitely deserves to be high up!
Interested to see if the Star Cup was topped, like you said it might be in one of the BCP Wave ranking videos. For me, a few might top it but notably the Fruit Cup beats it
other than wild woods my only major complaint is that i think dolphin shoals is a top tier track, making the star cup EVEN better for me, man i cannot believe how good it is. both the sheer amount of tracks and the quality of most of these tracks just makes this game the greatest mario kart game ever, I mean you have Wild Woods, Mount Wario, Squeaky Clean Sprint and 3DS Rainbow road ALL IN ONE GAME, IF they had added Wario Colosseum to this game it would have my entire top 5 greatest tracks in Mario kart History, (which are the tracks mentioned earlier) Awesome video I really hope you make a ranking all tracks in mk8deluxe, (i cross my fingers that wild woods will be in the top 25)
@circumplex9552 Idk, I'd definitely place it higher than he did (Waluigi Stadium is like #5 in the game for me), but the rest of the cup is just meh to okay, so it's a hard carry.
11:25-11:30 As a Rhythm Heaven fan, I for some reason was expecting a "But still, Just OK" joke even though theres no Mario characters in that series outside of the various WarioWare character cameos in the series
My top 5 5 lightning cup (balanced selection of courses,) 4 bell cup (ribbon road and big blue are amazing) 3 moon cup (has my favourite track) 2 feather cup (great selection of courses) 1 star cup (even better selection of courses) Bottom 5 24 shell cup (no above average tracks) 23 lucky cat cup (Ninja hideaway carries this cup) 22 cherry cup (Only koopa cape is good) 21 Golden dash cup (Toad circuit, nuff said) 20 mushroom cup (same as shell but with 1 good track)
I think Lightning Cup is probably favorite, mainly because of the set tracks, starting off with two fun tracks, going to a dangerous Bowser Castle, and ending in Rainbow Road. And I think the Lightning Cup did it better than the Special Cup ngl.
Not a bad list, I agree with most of it! Congratulations on 175k almost at 200k! 🎉. But London Loop is peak of track design and I’m mad you were so negative to it.
Great Vid as always. I think they should have replaced Ice World with Maka Wuhu and Mario Circuit with Airship Fortress because they should have been here
While we’re at it, shy guy bazaar should have easily been in over toad circuit. As far as 3DS mushroom cup courses go, it’s (literally) night and day in terms of quality
I still can’t forgive it for having that one turn in the parking garage with literally NO indication of where to go so you just slam into the wall unless you’ve done it before
the egg, triforce, crossing and bell cups really carry the game, without them it wouldn't be as good, it wouldn't be bad without them but they really make it a whole lot better
SUPER BELL SUBWAY IS SO GOOD I LOVE THE MUSIC AND DOING THE LAST SHORTCUT SHROOMLESS IS COOL AND THERE ARE SURPRISINGLY MANY ALTERNATE ROUTES FOR IT BEING A SUBWAY AND YOU CAN GO ON THE TRAINS AND ALL THAT STUFF 😭😭😭
I don’t have the DLC so I haven’t played them much, but I’ve played online a little and as much as the city tracks aren’t the best design and get boring, it’s fun playing in cities I’ve been to (Vancouver and New York) and seeing the references to the city
we had a mario kart club in middle school. i was the undisputed king of the star cup, to the point where it was a big deal if i got 2nd in any of the races. better days.
Personally my fav cup is feather because Athens dash is top 3 in the game for me, and daisy cruiser, though being the worst of the bunch is amazing, them moon view highway is just a fun time with friends bec of how chaotic it can get, and squeaky clean sprint is just amazing because it uses the towels, tub/drain, fan, and toilet very well plus the fact that there are many split paths near the end of the track until the middle.
Wow, you actually remade your old cup ranking. If I remember correctly, the star cup was the best cup in the “original” Wii U game so let’s see if the star cup can still reign supreme
13:43 me looking at the list be like: Yes he’s an Athens Dash lover!😃 No he’s a Neo Bowser city hater!😭 Yes we both agree music park is overrated!😈 No why is the acorn cup higher then the spiny cup!😭 Banana cup is in last let’s go!😄 Moon cup deserved to be higher! 😤
Me and my best friend George made a ranking of all 96 courses in the game (The worst was Baby Park and the best was 7 Rainbow Road in case you were wondering). And we decided to take all the points each cup earned and ranked them based off that. What I mean by that is that we counted how many spaces form last each course in a certain cup was. The most points would win. The worst cup was the crossing cup. Every track was C tier or worse. The best cup, which was also the only one to get over 300, was the lightning cup. Easy. No contest. The Star cup was dragged down by Dolphins shoals because of its layout and my crippling PTSD from its time trial-
@@Coolyuonh_GD I’ve already explained my disdain for baby park to you in full detail. Dolphin Shoals is incredibly unsatisfying to race on and highly overrated. And animal crossing is just kinda boring.
Now normally I would go over each cup and explain what I like and what I don’t, but I don’t want to be here all day, especially when we get to the track ranking. Agreed. Same with the hype we had through the music leaks hoping for Broken Pier (Boo Lake makes no sense in a cup that is supposed to be as hard as the special cup, it was a god damn Flower cup track) and Wario Collosseum. No one wanted Boo Lake or Waluigi Stadium. Same for mushroom bridge. It was even said to be part of the BCP, but then they changed when some tracks released and at the end replaced it with Moonview Highway. It should have replaced Waliuigi Stadium.

I will argue, TTC really makes a strong case for basing tracks on locations from other games in the franchise, and i mean proper, recognisable locations. I wanna drive through a church on the moon, and an oriental bowser castle. Chase Plessie around cat shaped islands. Drive through the fruit ice lolly factory of DK isle. Hope nintendo draws more inspiration from specific mario locations, rather than generic game themes.
@@Odyssey_Central i can probably keep going for a while. mario party has some brilliant locations too, like e. Gadd's workbench. And lets not forget the mario rpgs.

The Spiny Cup was so, *so* close to being a perfect ending for the Booster Course Pass. I lowkey really enjoy Madrid Drive and find it unironically fitting that the last city course in Tour matches up with where the best Mario Kart 8 Deluxe player in the world happens to be from. If every Booster Course Pass cup is going to start with a city course, this feels like the best fit for the final cup of the bunch. I also really like how both of Mario Kart’s Mario Galaxy themed courses are not only in the same cup for the first time but are also in the same Special Cup order placement as in their original cups, being second and fourth respectively. I know people really love the SNES Bowser Castle 3 remake, myself included, but on the context of the rest of the cup’s theme of Special Cup caliber tracks, this slot arguably should have gone to GBA Bowser Castle 4 instead. Wave 6 was the only wave without a GBA remake, and it would even fit perfectly into slot #3 just like the original did for its Special Cup appearance. That said, a SNES course in the last Wave is also incredibly fitting as a representation of the games coming full circle up to this point, so this could go either way.
the interesting part about sunset wilds is the reason why the sun does not set is specifically due to mario kart 8's skybox. from what I recall about one of the comments about this, the devs could not change that without affecting other things in the game so it had to stay like that. even wilder is Mario kart Tour got sunset wilds right, but its very understandable why they couldn't get its gimmick to work in mario kart 8 due to the issue of its skybox
i still feel like they should've tried to pivot to doing cheep cheep island the moment they knew they cannot really do the sunset animation (or at least do it justice to the point that they're willing to not cut it), since that's a sunset track not burdened (or carried) by the sunset wilds gimmick, also in tour, and beach tracks are something that are surprisingly lacking in the bcp (there is the first part of la laps, and uh...)
I think that the golden Dash and Lucky Cat cups are both the absolute lowest, they have the worst city tracks (except NY), toad circuit, and the disgusting Sky Garden remake. Seriously 4 of my top 10 worst tracks are in the same 2 cups.
Controversial opinion: The spiny cup is easily a top 5 cup for me. Obviously wii rainbow road is a phenomenal track and SNES bowser castle is the best SNEA track in the game IMO, but the other 2 tracks are still top tier. Madrid drive, while not the best city track, is honestly up there for me. It is a bit generic visually but I love the layout and it has some really memorable parts, like the wiggler or driving through the soccer field. But rosalina's ice world? Possibly the most overhated course in the franchise. It's just a super well designed course and by far the best ice-based track in the franchise. The themeing is a bit weak, but I've always loved this course, coming from someone who's always thought Mario Galaxy is overrated. So overall, definitely a top 5 cup for me.
Ranking cups before tracks is actually a good idea, since averages will suffer a lot from bad tracks. Tracks #20 isn’t « twice as good » as #40. Anyway. My top 5 1- Rock 2- Lightning 3- Special 4- Spiny 5- Bell

@@valeriebreidenstein8362 in the Wii version there’s a dude in between telling you which escalator is going up
I LOVE the Star Cup. Sunshine Airport gives Coconut Mall vibes, and is on par with it in quality imo, dolphin shoals is just kinda okay, elctrodrome is cool(pun entirely intended), and mount wario is also a lot of fun.
Is mount wario a command?
@@toonlinks yo chill
@@toonlinks I've been trying to figure that out for the last 9 and a half years.
Agreed Racing around an Airport, a Party, and an Ice Mountain is best Mario Kart Cup Material. Dolphin Shoals is controversial, but I like for doing some tricks, and the sea creatures.
Dolphin is kinda meh for me but its still fun and looks really nice
the only thing I hate about the remake of waluigi pinball is the fact that the waluigi statue in the original track had a 3d model of waluigi´s head, while in mk8d and mkt they changed it to a simple drawing that spins
Personally, I like the swinging head in the Tour and Deluxe remakes. It adds a lot to Waluigi's quirky personality.
I agree with your views on the city tracks, but if you have actually been to the city, it makes them so much more enjoyable and memorable
Also, London Loop is one I personally find to me pretty disappointing.
I personally never found the turns in Neo Bowser City hard at all. Then again, I played a lot of Mario Kart 7 back then, and Neo Bowser happened to be a popular pick for my friends. 200 cc is where the turns actually become a problem though, it makes 150 feel like you have the antenna on
200cc Neo Bowser is HELL.
@@moshimeshowu747you’ll get used to it. The turns are easy. Remember theirs brake drifting

I loved the detail that you used the msuic of your favourite track for each cup!
i've been looking forward to this since you said you were gonna do this sometime around wave 1!! super happy it's finally out
Saying Neo Bowser City is boring and then one cup later telling Shroom Ridge entertaining blew my mind 💀 (But i respect all opinions, even the wrong ones)
Both Shroom Ridge and Neo Bowser City are peak though
I think the Bell Cup might be my favourite with Lightning being 2nd and Star being 3rd. I already did a track ranking but even if I didn't, Bell would still clear. Big Blue and Ribbon Road are top 10 tracks in the game, I'm on the 50% that loves Neo Bowser City and Super Bell Subway also being a big one for me. All the Lightning Cup tracks are A tiers and while the Star Cup has 2 As as well as Mount Wario's perfection, I have never gotten the hype for Dolphin Shoals personally.
Pretty much my lineup as well. Although I put Star in second above Lightning because I like water maps like Shoals & the music is a banger.
The Bell Cup is my favorite as well. I love Super Bell Subway, it's my favorite track in the game. Big Blue is really epic and fun, Neo Bowser City is challenging and cool, and Ribbon Road is a solid track with great shortcuts.
The Bell Cup was my number 1 and I was absolutely shocked by your placement
I still love your videos, I think my favorite part and something that really stands out are the jokes and commentary in it. I'm watching all 35 minutes of it
I actually really like the Cherry Cup, Vancouver and Los Angeles are some of my favorite city tracks, Koopa Cape in this game is actually not overrated unlike the other Koopa Cape versions
and Sunset Wilds is personally still really fine
Yeah I actually really like Las Angeles Laps and especially Vancouver Velocity as well. Koopa Cape, while still not quite as good as the original, is much better than the Mario Kart 7 and Tour versions. Sunset Wilds though? Well, it's not a bad track, but it's a terrible remake and is worse than the original in every regard, outside of the graphics.
I'm biased towards Vancouver velocity due to being Canadian myself, but I like it

Los Angeles Laps (6.5/10): This feels unnecessary since New York Minute is already an American City Themed track.

Moon Cup is easily my favorite dlc track, every track in there rocks and I love them
I would like to say that there is no consensus on the city tracks, everyone is split on them.
Yup. And the average person who hates them only hates them because “Tour bad therefore tour tracks bad”

23 lucky cat cup (Ninja hideaway carries this cup)
22 cherry cup (Only koopa cape is good)
21 Golden dash cup (Toad circuit, nuff said)
20 mushroom cup (same as shell but with 1 good track)
I'll say it. I enjoy sunset wilds. The music and the dancing shy guys just make me happy.
The track is good. The lack of a sunset is what makes it terrible.
I think Lightning Cup is probably favorite, mainly because of the set tracks, starting off with two fun tracks, going to a dangerous Bowser Castle, and ending in Rainbow Road. And I think the Lightning Cup did it better than the Special Cup ngl.

Personally my fav cup is feather because Athens dash is top 3 in the game for me, and daisy cruiser, though being the worst of the bunch is amazing, them moon view highway is just a fun time with friends bec of how chaotic it can get, and squeaky clean sprint is just amazing because it uses the towels, tub/drain, fan, and toilet very well plus the fact that there are many split paths near the end of the track until the middle.
honestly Squeaky Clean Sprint goes SO hard, anything that reminds me of Mario Party DS’s “you’re tiny” gimmick makes me so happy 😭😭

Easy. No contest.

I guess that’s my 🤓 moment there. So I guess I shou… (Insert explosion green screen here)
The Spiny Cup was so, *so* close to being a perfect ending for the Booster Course Pass.
That said, a SNES course in the last Wave is also incredibly fitting as a representation of the games coming full circle up to this point, so this could go either way.
the interesting part about sunset wilds is the reason why the sun does not set is
specifically due to mario kart 8's skybox. from what I recall about one of the comments about this, the devs could not change that without affecting other things in the game so it had to stay like that.
even wilder is Mario kart Tour got sunset wilds right, but its very understandable why they couldn't get its gimmick to work in mario kart 8 due to the issue of its skybox
Then it shouldn't have been in the game. They had no excuse.
i still feel like they should've tried to pivot to doing cheep cheep island the moment they knew they cannot really do the sunset animation (or at least do it justice to the point that they're willing to not cut it), since that's a sunset track not burdened (or carried) by the sunset wilds gimmick, also in tour, and beach tracks are something that are surprisingly lacking in the bcp (there is the first part of la laps, and uh...)
London Loop is the peak of track design and I hate you for calling it boring

I think that the golden Dash and Lucky Cat cups are both the absolute lowest, they have the worst city tracks (except NY), toad circuit, and the disgusting Sky Garden remake. Seriously 4 of my top 10 worst tracks are in the same 2 cups.
Yeah i don't get ranking the bell cup below the lucky cat cup
