Ya see how that all in cost model flies when you have demurrage, chassis fees and split fees, detention and everything else. Sure all in pricing is great, simplified pricing is great, but 1 price will simply not account for true costs. Plus, you can mislead your customer and will surprise and disappoint them when you have to add costs.

Hi Nadeem, I would be focusing on choosing 2-3 freight forwarders in your local area and explain to them you are buying EXWORKS and then give them the FULL supplier/sending point details and final delivery details. Then do the comparison. As a rule TRY NOT to using multiple forwarders for 1 shipment. Use 1 provider for everything is ALWAYS the best as you get FULL control and visibility of their service and pricing without nasty surprises. DO not think by using different providers will save money it is a FALSE economy that will cause MORE problems than any FACE value saving you may get. Good luck.

@@nadeemakhtar7043 Without knowing the exact specifics it is hard for me to comment accurately. However from reading your comment that someone has quoted you FOB then this rate should be just AIR freight from Airport to Airport only. So again I suggest you contact a local forwarder and get them to manage the whole shipment for you and not just go with any quote provided by origin party. Too many uncontrollable variables.

@@nadeemakhtar7043 you need to know your incoterms friend. Look on UA-cam as there are many videos explaining these. You mention FOB, but this only applies to the Origin fees, meaning the price offered to you includes shipping final shipment to the port/airport/freight forwarders warehouse. Now you need to specify the DESTINATION terms of the shipment to your forwarder when asking for a quote... Eg. DDP, DAP etc. The EASIEST way to get quotes is to ask for DDP service. In your case, tell your forwarders that you have fob terms, (provide your suppliers phone number so the forwarder can chat with your supplier), then ask for DDP Shipment. This means DELIVERED TO YOUR DOOR, all expenses included. You don't need to worry about any of the customs, import, taxes or duties. Hope this helps 🙏🏼🌈

Are you referring to the FAK port to port rates? Of course it’s better to know that rate but a shipper-owned second-hand container costs less compared to a brand new carrier-owned container for both FCL and LCL service. You need to breakdown all the costs in order to have fair pricing. There’s no way around that. Otherwise forwarders can charge whatever price that comes to their mind right? If you can automate the price breakdown on an excel/PDF file then that’s the best solution.

We appreciate your input. Thanks for commenting!
Ultimately, what we're trying to say in the above video is: the end user (the customer) is the gate keeper of their budget and it's the freight forwarder's responsibility to provide a clear and precise price without hidden charges.

@@ThinkGlobalLogistics Yeah thank you for the reply and that would be amazing indeed. If these fees are truly not hidden and totally transparent with flat forwarder service fees then you can win the whole market indeed because currently prices have gone up not only due to container shortage or fuel prices but a big portion of the increase in prices is due to 2nd-level agents selling to newbies at blind rates and that alone has driven prices super high even for experienced people who have been buying from forwarders for years. Partly done because alibaba allows it. Selling a service is like selling a physical product. I don’t go around charging different rates to my customers. It’s really unfair even for the end consumer what’s happening with forwarders nowadays because it drives product prices super high. That’s why you have the IMO and IATA pricing regulations. But unfortunately 2nd-level agents nowadays that are not even NVOCC licensed, they are increasing the shipping prices single-handedly pretty much just because platforms like alibaba allow it with the so-called “free market” excuse. I think it won’t last for too long. Forwarders who adopt flat rates and true full transparency faster are the ones that will win the market undeniably. I mean the market is super thirsty for these kinds of forwarders.
