Lena, was a powerhouse of a singer ,would win an talent show today, hands down!! A victim of her own fame and bad child managment!! Very sad ending, of a shining star! Rip lady go sing with the Angel's x
I remember Lena bursting onto out TV screens on Opportunity Knocks, she knocked the socks off every other contestant! She was a powerhouse, very talented. Such a tragic life, taken far too early. RIP 🙏
Beautiful little Lena will always be remembered for her incredible voice - sadly, she was taken too soon. Thank you for taking us to see her resting place. RIP Lena Zavaroni💖
I knew her grandparents they lived in my village you couldn't have found a more lovely couple they were so proud of her they didn't brag they were the type of couple if you knew she was their granddaughter then you knew but they didn't throw it in your face. Saw Lena a few times when she was visiting always lovely always acknowledge you as you passed her and was always left in peace just all round lovely person rip Lena
I remember watching her on television in my childhood. Her voice was incredible, but she looked and behaved like someone much older. I think fame robbed her of her childhood. She came across as a very sweet girl. She has a beautiful memorial. Bless her, taken far too young, tragic. My youngest son had a life saving kidney operation in the Cardiff hospital she was treated in. So it hits home really hard. Another beautiful tribute Paul, bless you. ❤ xx
I loved Lena zavoroni! We would be the same age now, I’m an anorexic survivor so this means a lot, but thank you for doing it with your usual tact and empathy x
One of My husbands old work friends in hoddesdon was one of Lena’s friends, and he said she had lost so so much weight and was such a lovely lady and he went to her funeral . Such a beautiful woman and talent taken from us . RIP Lena ❤ that churchyard is beautiful as my auntie and uncle are there … it’s beautiful walking through and hearing all the chimes and seeing the graves with decorations on, and all the Xmas trees decorated on graves at Xmas . It’s nice to sit on the benches as well in summer xx
How weird, I’ve been thinking about Lena a lot just recently for some reason and watching some of her old tv shows. She was just a couple of years older than me, and I was really jealous of her when I was a little girl- if only I’d known! She was a really sweet person, and not a brat like you’d expect child stars to be. Poor girl, how tragic her life turned out to be.❤️
Poor Lena….used to watch her on the royal variety etc…..it’s soo sad when someone so beautiful was soo sad inside.. it’s soo common…A voice never to be forgotten..Bless you Lena ♥💐
I remember Lena singing on Opportunity Knocks in 74 and that she came from the Greenock area of Scotland. Very sad story and such a shame, Lena did have talent. May she forever R.I.P 🙏
I remember Lena so very well was always full of life loved her voice so much my dad bought me her album my favourite song was wishing on star she inspired me to sing myself so I will never forget her wat a shame died to soon wat a bundle of love hope she’s at peace now
Lena's grave is 5 minutes from me and I've seen it many times. My youngest daughter (she's in her 20s) and I love walking around cemeteries and I've told her Lena's story. Such a sad one 😔
Such a sad story 😥. This scenario is way too common with young stars. So much tragedy. What a beautiful memorial 🪦 for a beautiful young woman. God Bless her 🙏 and may she Rest in Heavenly Peace.
Little Lena was such a childhood star...I remember seeing her on TV when I was little and we all loved her. Such a sad story as she grew up bless her. RIP Lena and thankyou for your music x
How sad was this , she started out with such great promise and everything was pulled out from underneath her, life can be so cruel to some people cant it, its a terrible disease anorexia. Karen carpenter springs to mind another great talent taken to early. Thanks Paul
It is frightening to consider that as recently as the early 80s the medical profession were so ignorant concerning Anorexia Nervosa and so the much needed help wasn't there for Karen Carpenter and others.
There is video on you tube of her singing " Going Nowhere" from 1981. She sings the song with so much feeling and emotion. It really is an outstanding performance. The girl could really sing.
Such a sad ending to a tremendously talented young woman. She was persuaded to sing at her own wedding, but the song she chose was "Help Me Make It Through The Night" I can't help but wonder if that was a subtle cry for help. New husband didn't appear to pick up on that either. RIP Lena Zavaroni, keep singing in your next life ❤❤❤❤
I remember Lena's appearance on a local TV chat show and the host was asking her did getting married make her happy but Lena said " No" . She was just so down during the interview but honest through and through ; the anorexia had robbed her of happiness .
Hi Paul, Thank you. Unfortunately the entertainment industry is and was brutal on young singer's, male and female. Their precious lives cut short, without reaching there full potential, so sad. Great posts
Another sad story of a celebrity gone too soon. Less than a year older than me. I was starstruck when I watched her on television in the 70's. Beautiful girl. So nicely covered again Paul . Thank you. 😊
I wss i a teenager in school when Lena became known and popular ,here in the USA.We thought that little girl was wonderful ! Its just in the last few years that I'd heard of her death- and I felt so bad about it . Thank you for visiting her grave .🌹
I went to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute when we went up to Scotland for a holiday. Her picture was in a lot of places in the town. They obviously had a fondness for her time living there. Watched the premiere live tonight Paul...I often miss them and have to catch up! Very poignant. Depression is such an awful mental illness and coupled with anorexia, she must have struggled so much. You always handle things so calmly & professionally x J x
Thanks to you Paul for getting up early and doing what you do tragic of what happened to Lena zavaroni I remember watching her on opportunity knocks she could belt out those songs if she was alive today would win bgt hands down your a star shining in heaven rest in peace Lena zavaroni xx
I watched Lena on TV in 1974 as an 8 year old and fell in love with her.. My first 45 record was Ma He's Making Eye's at Me... I remember it broke in pieces one day as I tried to remove it from the turn table. I was devastated and buried the remains at the bottom of the garden. I always wonder if it would still be there to this day. I visited Lena's Grave a few years ago and I just wanted to lay down there with her forever... I regret not being there for Lena in the mid 90's when I only lived 20 miles away and lived alone in a tiny flat in Hoddesdon... Lena would be 60 now as I write this.. RIP Lena, we didn't meet in this life but I want to meet you in the next coming.... XXXxxxxXXX
The way you cover the deceased is done so beautifully and eloquently. I am a relatively new fan of this channel. I live in Texas but British entertainement and history was quite prevalent in my young life because my mom was from Birmingham. Dad is from Texas which is why we live in America. I have heard of many Biritsh entertainers but I am glad you covered Lena because I have never heard of her until now. She seemed very talented and lovely. Your channel popped up randomly I think because I watch a lot of the American Hollywood Graveyard. Thanks for the graveyard tours. Keep up the great work.
Thank you so much for showing Lena's final resting place. It was so lovely. I was born the same year and remember Lena being on Opportunity Knocks like it was yesterday ❤
Nice one Paul, glad you finally got to come up my way. But listening to you pronounced Hoddesdon. Sorry, it was funny. So incredibly sad what happened to Lena, but glad you went to see her. Thank you 😊
Nice presentation. Had no idea that Lena Zavaroni had passed, very tragic story. Nice touch on reading the poem on her grave, it really filled my eyes with tears. Thanks again
Thank you for this one Paul I'm old enough to remember Lenas rise to fame and the sad way it progressed. She is not forgotten and remembered with love. Bless you mate.
That was a very Sad Story and again you have Nailed it Paul about the Pressures of Stardom, which could have induced Poor Lenas Death.. "LET THE VOICE BE KNOWN, BUT THE IMAGE LEFT ALONE" !!!!

I believe she sang that song better than its writer (Neil Sedaka) because she could relate to it.
