Awesome! This was just the video I needed. I got the M5 the other day for pre-treating and post-treating concrete, and the one thing I dislike about it is the amount of pressure. Problem solved!
So I did the mod. Only 2 of the 4 tips on my jrod worked. The other 2 made it spit chem the opposite way. After reading the comments I understand i have to get bigger tips. My question is how do you disconnect your wand from the xjet without quick connects? You just pull it off the hose barb thingy? seems like thats going to wear out the hose pretty quick. or do you just wrap all your hose with the wand? please and ty for the video.
Hey man so when you modd the jxet it stays that way just keep hose and everything in their. We use 50 ft draw hose and we make a spill proof bucket. When we are done we just wrap the hose arou d the bucket attached to the gun and move on
@@toddmccown I dont think it will suck from 100ft. In my experience 50ft is plenty. If you use the right tips you will shoot really far a d soft enough to wash your dog. How the original jxet is set up its way to high pressure IMO. I'll be doing another video shortly with a really in depth xjet part 2 video

100' of 3/8" rubber air hose works perfect. Zip tie to the last 100' of your high pressure hose, this way you set your chem bucket down and now you have "1 hose" 100' xjet. MUCH EASIER than tripping over the small hose provided. But your xjet shut off valve closest to your gun. Dont need soap....shut valve off. Need soap...turn valve on. Simplicity
@Hosebro 2 Questions... 1. why are you using an X-jet... why can't you just use a regular downstream chemical injector and put it in the same place (between the gun and the lance)? Wouldn't that be the exact same thing?? Is the X-jet better than a downstream injector if used in the exact same place? 2. Why are you using it between the gun and the lance? I am using mine between the gun and the hose (i.e. before the gun) and I am using quick connects and I do not have to worry about it being "wobbly" because it's before the gun, so I don't notice if it is wobbly or not. Would it matter if you make your modification before the gun or after the gun?
This will change the game for me. I think jrods put out a much higher quality stream than the m5 nozzle. I’m gonna do this so I can get away from all that mist and overspray. Thank you!
Hosebro right. I use a 4pm. I have jrods already but I don’t want to downstream. So I’ve just been using the m5 on the xjet. It creates such a terrible pattern for me that when I’m spraying high I can’t even see what I’m hitting.
What jrod tips would be best for a 4gpm 4200psi machine with this modified Xjet setup? Looking to dial down the pressure a bit without negatively affecting my GPM so ajusting the unloader is non option. Primarily will be used for house washing. Any recommendations are highly appreciated.
Do you find the 24" lance would be better than the 18" or 12"....Also I see the 50' flexilla hose you have shown for bucket to xjet on amazon....is there no issue drawing thru such a long hose and those 3/8 ends on the flexilla slip over the barbs ok
sorry for the delay.. yes 24 is much better it breaks up the pressure anything shorter and its to much pressure and mist IMO.. also 50 ft of flexzilla is perfect thats what use 0nissues after 6 years
Thanks for the video. I have a question for you. I have a 5.5gpm and I tested my downstream injector and I’m getting 20 gallons of water to 1 gallon of 12.5% SH. It works good for light mold and mildew but I used it on a house that was almost black and took way to long to clean. If I was to use the X-Jet would it up my water to SH ratio since it’s at the end of the gun? Just started my business this year so I’m still a noob. Thanks in advance.
You can get an adjustable down stream injector on amazon that sucks 12:1 when wide open. You'll need to dilute the bleach to run it through wide open or you can play with the settings until you get it just how you want it. I'd use a gallon of 12.5% in 4.5 gallons of water running it wide open for a good strength. Make it hotter if you need to for the tough houses. How's business going?
@@MrCedricPeterson correct you use the xjet to apply Chem on house washes or pre treats on concrete. If your cleaning roofs use a specific pump and to use high pressure just put on a normal gun no xjet
Hey man good video thank you. I was wondering does this effect the chemical pull ratio at all? Also, if using a jrod for the tip, does it basically work as a downstream injector like the large orifice will pull chem and the rinse nozzles will shut it off?
No, what I'm asking is does modifying the xjet effect the pulling ratio that the xjet originally has unmodified? and if I had a jrod using a rinse nozzle, would I have to shut the valve on the xjet off or would the nozzle stop the suction? Thanks for responding
Is there a secret to getting the twist-nozzel part off the XJet? I can't get it off for the life of me, and I swear I think it's got some red loctite on it or something.
Haha your not the only one who has said that.. have you tried putting it in a vice? If not you can heat it up with a head gun slightly or spray some wd40 on it to help break it loose. I promise it comes off :)
Do you use straight chemicals or do you dilute it? I am looking to buy the M5 and do your mod. I have a 4GPM machine 4000PSI. I am wondering what proportioner to use if using full strength SH/diluted for house washing?
Good insight. I've considered using a high pressure check valve and integrating the modded x jet into the end of a whip hose near the machine instead of having to tote around two lines. Do you think that would work?
@@Hosebro I live in Yorkshire, England and due to the geography it's known as one of the windiest places in the UK and on semi-detached homes which I do a lot I need to control the overspray long lance works when the winds at its worst
Yes but on the mod (not shown in video) I made spill proof Buckets and use 50ft of air hose to feet the bucket that way you don't have to carry the bucket very often. If you but the bucket on a corner you can usually clean 2 sides without moving it
I totally understand what you’re doing. But are you losing distance by doing this modification? How far will it spray? I’m more concerned with distance so if my distance is compromised should I leave it the way it came from factory?
This improves the distance greatly by at least 20 ft. Think about it the xjet IMO is to high pressure and creates a mist when going for distance. This mod makes it low pressure so you dont get mist and in return you get greater distance.
Have you tried the mod with a 12" lance? I have about 10 houses under my belt with the M5 and would like to tone it down a bit plus have less mist. I'm ordering a backup M5 for next season and plan on doing this mod but don't like the idea of a longer (24")lance. As of now, it's on the end of my gun.

@@Hosebro sorry there was a typo. So I made the x jet mod and everything and am using a JROD for my tip. However the gun only seems to be pulling chemicals out of one of tips, instead of the two soap tips that are there. It pulls from the jet tip but not the fan tip.
@@MrCedricPeterson so here are a few troubleshooting tips. 1. Make sure your Chem line is 3/8 and less than 50 ft. 2. Don't put the x jet color tips in to proportion just leave them out and dilute your bucket with water. 3. What tips are you using on your jrod if they are to small creating back pressure it won't draw soap. For example of your using a 8 GPM machine use size 60 orphis tips.
@@Hosebro I’m using a 4.2 gpm machine. My chem line is the xjet hose, although I did have problems with that coming off if the pressure got too high. Maybe if I use something to fasten the hose to the barb on the x het, it will draw my chemicals.
@@MrCedricPeterson it sounds like your tips are to small. Run larger orphis tips like size 40 do not use high pressure tips or the small down stream tips you need them larger and it will pull just fine
Put a little M.A.N into it haha jk of course. 1. Did you put two wrenches on it to break it loose? 2. I think its put on with red locktite so I know heat helps but I think you would melt the nozzle. Maybe try to spray some wd40 or some type of lube to help breat it free. Having it in a vice is really the best way.. there is nothing to break really so go nuts. Just make sure your taking it off counter clock wise :) let me know how it turns out.
Umm, not to mention an xjet draws 3:1 compared to d s at 10:1. Totally different pieces of equipment. Thought I would mention the main difference. It's been around what, 20 years.
I bought a green tip that is for 8-10 gallon pressure washers for my 2.0 gpm pressure washer from Kleen-Rite and it draws soap from my standard and high draw injectors at 1-2.25%. So with an M5 modded... well... I will be able to add SH from my square 5 gallon bucket and boost the injection amount of 1-2.25% with what ever I can get from the X-Jet. I also have an MTM foam tip... So if I want to put a hot foam (stay where I spray it) mix on a roof... I should be able to get high enough concentrate to clean with out breaking out my 12 volt. I also have a 24' kevlar carbon fiber pole that can use to put SH almost anywhere on any home without blasting up from the ground.
Hey I attempted to do the mod but the M5 head piece where copper and steel meet are not coming apart. I tried PB Blaster, used a crescent wrench, and I even used my impact driver. No dice. Have you had this complication? It almost seems it was welded on there (which is bad since if that ever had to be fixed/replaced I'd have to buy another unit). Also, any tips to loosen it since I really wish to try this mod.
Great job, really would like to know/see how will it shoot through the lance only, will this be like the sniper nozzle comparing to the assassin nozzle?

Curb Appeal Pros yea they are not that heavy and they let you adjust to different situation in seconds when your spraying chem at 3 story house and reaching top then working down and being able to adjust pressure is so much easier, faster and safe and a lot more efficient
Can anyone tell me how to extend the reach. I bought 50 ft of hose for the x jet because the short one it comes with is way to short. I need a way to add the valve to the new 50 ft hose
@Ed Wyman I thought it was on this but maybe not.. it might me on my kit (in description) get 50 ft of flexible air hose. Don't go more than 50ft it won't work.. follow instructions on my last comment and you will be set!
U CAN use the M5 twist that came with it, u can use Any Soap tip. U cannot use high pressure tips because water will shoot out the barb causing hose to blow off if valve shut or even worste....fill your chem tank full of water. Very frustrating when this happens to a 50 gallon tank that HAD straight 12.5% in it. Errr.

Would it not be easier to use the original xjet and also cheaper? That way you won't need to remove the fan variable fitment as the original xjet is already 1/4 On the end

Cant use a high pressure tip because it shoots water back down the hose. After using mod to apply soap, simply remove the hose from tank or shut valve off. Only soap orifices will work properly. Sizes 40,50,60

Would this mod work before the gun? Basically put the x jet inline with the hose. (Just before it like Down steaming. Haven't tried it but was going to. Just thought I'd ask in case it would save me some time not to do it's thanks
I assumed so. Going to see and I'll get back to y'all thanks.
Just put your injector tube in a bucket of water. No more sucking air.
5 Gallon bucket - On the Metal brass hose fitting 90 degree elbow, barb X NPT male,
what’s the measurements (1/4 - 3/8) for both sides? Thanks
Thanks and I’ll be waiting for your confirmation. Also thank you for this informative video!
after you modified it with the lance could you still use the adjustable nozzle ?
No you put a jrod at the end and use larger orphis tips this allows much lower pressure and greater distance without over spray
Where do you get the little black gun? It comes with the m5?
Its just a pw gun its in my link below
Does the gun come with the pressure washer? Does it break down or you need to buy the separate small gun?
@@rsookdd8632 I am unsure its just a standard PW gun link is below it does not come with a gun the xjet is just the nozzle assembly. I hope that helps
where did you get that container from. I want to buy one.
What is it called. How would I search for it.
Curb Appeal Pros Curb Appeal Pros haha. That's koo. I have no idea what they are called. Do you have one like the one in the video I could buy from you?
When I put the JROD on the end it’s only pullin my curls through one of the tips…the jet tip and not the fan one.,.any idea what to do?
I am confused by your question what size GPM machine and what size tips are you using?
I absolutely can not get the twist nozzle part off. Any suggestions??? HELP!!!
Wouldnt sticking a downstream injector in the lance essentially be the same thing for cheaper?
Also, any tips to loosen it since I really wish to try this mod.
okay thank you. I don't have a bench vice but maybe a neighbor does.
Great job, really would like to know/see how will it shoot through the lance only, will this be like the sniper nozzle comparing to the assassin nozzle?
Woow, didn't expect that, thank you man, I'm thinking to start this business and trying to get informed you know, I live in a small Country 2 mil. people, in Europe region and believe it or not nobody has this business here, I'll be the only one, the thing is most of houses are dryvit/stucco so DS will not work as higher concentration is needed as you know, so I'm thinking modified X-jet could help someway, thanks again, all the best, subscribed
Yes, thank you, awesome.
Yea wow why wouldn't I just get a lance that controls the pressure and leave nozzle alone. step up y'all powerwashing game

Curb Appeal Pros yea they are not that heavy and they let you adjust to different situation in seconds when your spraying chem at 3 story house and reaching top then working down and being able to adjust pressure is so much easier, faster and safe and a lot more efficient
So what gun/lance can be used
Any does not matter 24in lance
wow,, great video I dont use mine because of the pressure but maybe I will now thanks for the video
Can anyone tell me how to extend the reach. I bought 50 ft of hose for the x jet because the short one it comes with is way to short. I need a way to add the valve to the new 50 ft hose
This in my video.. when it's hooked up to the gun cut a peice and just put a 1/4 barb to 1/2 ball valve on it and your done.
@@Hosebro different video? Didn't see a hose extension video
@Ed Wyman I thought it was on this but maybe not.. it might me on my kit (in description) get 50 ft of flexible air hose. Don't go more than 50ft it won't work.. follow instructions on my last comment and you will be set!
@@Hosebro thanks
Is their less dilution of chem. Doing it that way ?
got the flezilla hose, how do you connect it to x-jet?
@@Hosebro where can I get the bucket, thanks
castCastro look at the link and click on the our gear link it's under our mod jet kit
What is the purpose of the XJet M5?
To spray chem at a stronger % than down streaming
Where is the best place to buy my downstream injector at?
So to be clear you don't you and nozzle that comes with the X Jet? You use what ever else you want but not the one that came with it?
OK. Why not use the Xjet nozzle now that you have reduced it. Not arguing, but curious to learn.
@@Hosebro Yes thankyou for your patient reply.
Errr.
Would this Work with my 1 gal a min?
Wow 1 gallon a min? That's a hard one I M sure it would but I can't say I've ever used anything less than 4 GPM
Can I plumb to 12v pump together
@@jesusson3475 kinda they make a 24v 10 gpm pump
Why not use a downstream injector then you dont have to deal with dragging a tube around? I'm new, just wanting to learn.
@@Hosebro I have an x-jet but am having trouble with the stream. I have a 3000 psi 2.7 gpm machine. What size orifice should I use? I looked at the one in it and it says 0.7. Thanks
Thanks for the share. Going to build this in the morning just as you described. Also sub'd.
We’re can I get one of them X jet for 21 ltm
So do you still use the m5 black adjustable tip? Or no?
Don Whidden No that's 1 of the main issues of why it mist but large tips on a banger nozzle
will this work with 150 ft of hose?
No I meant of pressure washing hose. I just received the X-Jet yesterday and modified it as well. Reason I went with the X-jet was because my downstream wouldn't work with 150 ft hose and then someone told me to try the X-Jet. It's working now. Do you use one of those colored tips it comes with?
You can also drill out that orifice and still get good draw.
Or you could simply drop the revs ?
Lowering the pressure on a unloader is a bad Idea and it reduces flow always adjust by nozzel size
Isn't that just a down stream injector? -the m5?
Would it not be easier to use the original xjet and also cheaper? That way you won't need to remove the fan variable fitment as the original xjet is already 1/4 On the end
I was going to ask this too. Seems like the original xjet would be easier to modify than the M5.
The original xjet doesnt have the 1/4" thread option.
can i ask what kind of gun you have at where u get it from
Same question from me please?
MTM Hydro SG28 easy pull trigger.
Question noobie here. Would you rather use this x-jet for spraying chemical on houses or Soft wash was about to buy 25 gallon sprayer tank with 5.5 gpm 12v pump on a marine battery for power. Your setup seems much easier and very powerful. Give me some info thanks love the video
Also with x-jet setup won’t need JRod kit right?
Ok I’m running a new Simpson 4400 psi 4gpm good system for x-jet setup?
Yeah I’m just starting out and this was in my price range for now thanks for great info and replying back
Thank you for the video. Do you put the m5 back on at the end of the lance
Curb Appeal Pros ok great
We are new to power washing. We run a5.5 machine. We have a problem with the xjet creating a lot of mist. Is that typical?
Curb Appeal Pros great
Thank you for all your help
Curb Appeal Pros yes sir
Have a great day and hopefully a great season
Bad ass video sir, gonna mod mine that way with the j rod 👍
Ok so I did it ,and it soaps fine but when I switch my valve back to rinse it blew the line off and tore a hole in it..lol
@@scottruch2251 did you ever find a fix?
Couldn't you technically do this with a 24ft telescoping pole out of the trigger. For church steeples etc.
What tips with 10 gpm!?!
40s or 50s work great
@@Hosebro is that a shooter tip?? Thank you so much!
@@calebcampbell5275 no its just a large orphis tip
What about a good shooter tip? I need length!
this is exactly why i youtube. this is going to improve my quality of life.... one question though, have u done flow rate test? does this restric from the original design at all? thanks
Can the X-JET be installed at the pressure washer before the hose like a regular chem injector? Would it still draw as much chem? My M5 is missing the spring but seems to work fine without it.
We’re can I get one of them
You can get x jets anywhere i have links below along with a part list and links on where to get them
@@Hosebro
2 Questions...
1. why are you using an X-jet... why can't you just use a regular downstream chemical injector and put it in the same place (between the gun and the lance)? Wouldn't that be the exact same thing?? Is the X-jet better than a downstream injector if used in the exact same place?
2. Why are you using it between the gun and the lance? I am using mine between the gun and the hose (i.e. before the gun) and I am using quick connects and I do not have to worry about it being "wobbly" because it's before the gun, so I don't notice if it is wobbly or not. Would it matter if you make your modification before the gun or after the gun?
@@JohannesMorcos 1. Downstream injectors don't last and need to be replaced a few times per year. The xjet does not due to the components. 2. When you thread it into the gun it's not wobble this is not done by quick connector. And sure you can run the xjet before the gun if you want but your going to be pulling sh though your at a pretty strong concentration so I'd expect faster breakdown of the gun.
@@Hosebro thank you
@@Hosebro make more videos
Why not just drill out the internals to drop the pressure?
Well then it would not have anyway to create back pressure and it would not suck chemical :) same concept for example if your down streaming and you have a high pressure tip it won't suck. Hope that helps
@@Hosebro yep. Rodger that
Or you can just use the gun without a lance and add a larger orphis which will reduce the pressure.
No you really need the Lance IMO
@@Hosebro try reducing the pressure by over rating your orphis size and tell me the results..im just guessing...i do know the lance works you are rite
@@creolecajun9988 a larger orphis is fine but it still needs to travel to reduce pressure. I use 8 to 10 GPM machines and 60 size tip and its still way to much pressure I think the largest tip they make is a 70 so i am 99% it would be the same results
How I can find it
Great video!!! I just shot you a sub. I was wondering if you could give a quick tutorial on how you set up your 5 gallon tank for using the x jet? Thanks.
can't you just turn down the pressure on your compressor ?
Why can’t you just lower the pressure at the machine?
Tried your mod. All it does is make the water shoot out the hose barb. No chem draw at all. What I do wrong? Followed your mod to the T.
Thanks. I'll give that a try.
Cant use a high pressure tip because it shoots water back down the hose. After using mod to apply soap, simply remove the hose from tank or shut valve off.
Only soap orifices will work properly. Sizes 40,50,60
So confused. Why blow 150 bucks on a xjet when you can do the same thing with a $50 down stream injector????
1. Xjet never breaks down streamers do..
2. You don't have to walk back to your truck to turn water/chem on.
3. Downstream remotes aren't quite their yet as far as quality.
4. Xjet can put on a stronger mix..
We love to down stream and xjet there is no right or wrong its like a chevy/Ford thing
too heavy weight for brass carving
We get about a year out of them and it's cheap.
High Pressure with a pressure washer? who would have thought it could be possible???
How about learning how to properly use a wand?
Other than the hose being closer so that you can have more mobility, this is a pointless waste of a warranty.
By modifying you are only wasting your money spent on a good tool.
Rob Brooks just get a lance that controls the pressure. the lance with the grip on the side you turn it back for low pressure and forward for high pressure
He dont know. I wouldnt the x jet without the modification. Less pressure, easier 2nd hose management.
