I miss these types of police sirens, as well as the big dual bubble classic lights on light bars, big trapezoid light bars, big oval light bars, and land yachts everywhere.
We were liking these US series so much in Europe and probably all around the world ... and as mentioned these land yachts.... so nice so aesthetic so... everything ! Keep in mind that a Chevrolet Caprice or nova was considered a luxury car here in France and you had to pay expensive taxes to get it on the road ... anyway those series were bringing excitement... today series are mainly fbi stuff and black suburbans all around and characters a stereotyped girl in her mid 30’s with the same clone guy...
I have a 12 volt bullet shaped siren from the 50's or 60's that I use for Halloween. I bought it 20 years ago at a nearby yard sale for only $10. I wire a little switch to it and a motorcycle battery that I can blast kids with when they walk up to the front door. I also use it on New Years Eve at midnight.
The Federal Signal Twinsonic lightbar was mostly used for police cars then but yes was such a great era so far 😊 Visi bar beacons Beacon Rays etc were such legendaries too lol
Those big pillow soft suspensions added some excitement to chase scenes. Lots of people have things to say about how the cars handled, but we're talking about tech from 50 years back, it was a different time.
I loved these! Kinda wish you had shown a few seconds beyond when the chases ended but this was still a great compilation. Police Story was my favorite TV show when I was in hs. In the clip with the female officer driving, they had a blooper. The car she was driving, part of the chase it had revolving lights on top and part of the chase they were the old forward-facing steady reds that you used to see on the early Adam 12's. Thanks for putting this together and posting!
My mom had one of those. I learned to drive with it then 'inherited' in when she got a sporty little Mercedes. My friends loved "The Boat" aka: "Das Boot".
@@pinkpriss beautiful aren't they? There was an episode of 80s sitcom Who's The Boss where the daughter was bought a yellow one for her first car and she hated it mainly because of all the reflectors her dad stuck all along the sides. I agreed with her, it was overkill as it was taxi yellow and they ruined the car.
I like how the only car that got away was my 1974 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu. The heavy duty F41 suspension in that car handles exceptionally well for a 2 ton land yacht.
@CSXRockford My bad. Thanks for the correction. And yes, the F41 package that consisted of a thicker front sway bar and an additional rear sway bar plus heavier coil springs. 9C1 package was used on 90's B body Caprice meant for fleet use, like cop cars.
Cops today would’ve paralleled the suspect on the right side of the road, radioed his position and calling for backup, not chased him on the wrong side of the highway, just the catch him. Possibly causing more possible injury or death.
Ah, 70's police shows/chases. The Directors and Networks must think most of us are idiots. How else can you explain a chase scene where the police officers start out in a Chevy, half way through the chase they are in a Chrysler product, and end up catching the criminal(s) in a Ford; but yet were right behind them for the entire chase.
I never understand why they use diffrent lightbars on the Police cars so much, start a chase with bubble gums, switch to can lights, then back to gumballs. Do they really think viewers won't notice you changed bars about 4-5 times in 1 chase? 🤣

You may think that but it's done in hopes to warn the drivers of the maniac he's chasing coming at them the wrong way, Would you rather just have some loony driver at you or a chance to know they're coming by hearing a siren?
I miss these types of police sirens, as well as the big dual bubble classic lights on light bars, big trapezoid light bars, big oval light bars, and land yachts everywhere.
That was a blast from the past! V-8 rear wheel drive & smoking the right rear tire & loosing the full size wheel covers. Good Day to You!

Love the music and this show, Police Story
6:29 "Speed" (looks at speedometer) "Oh my God she's doing 90 miles per hour !"
Funniest chauvinistic line in a car chase ever.
Police Story. Good series. I miss it.
holly misque, this police car chase had two different cars, different lights!

Does that music just start playing anytime a Boatilac turns on a siren?
Really dig all the old classics!!
Maybe that Mustang was a classic, but I didn’t see any others. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

70's....the decade of illhandeling land yachts

car jacking, a federal offense.

Heavy old U.S. cars are good at wallowing around corners.
NICE RED LIGHTS!
the 66 Impala @3:10 has a 12 bolt rear…beautiful !!
Brilliant upload!
2:33 .......... Enough to make a grown man cry when they wreck a classic Mustang like that.
I'm hoping it was a condemned car, like many studios use civics for... I can only hope
I've never seen Bel Airs dressed up like Impalas, especially on Police cars.
Me, either!!
I'm amazed how agile the big boats were, especially the enormous gold 71/72 LTD/Galaxie.
