I'm joined by Julien Laurens (@LaurensJulien), European Football Journalist and Broadcaster, to look back at Saliba's loan spell, his playing style, his strengths and weaknesses, and we explore how he might fit in under Arteta.

Although I don’t think he will start straight away I think he is going to be pushing Gabriel and White and if either of those slip up he will slot straight in

Great listen - top job FK getting Julien on! Really hope it works out and we see a long term partnership of Gabriel and Saliba. Think it'll take time for them develop and Saliba will have to wait a bit to take White's place. I also think Saliba is conscious of his world cup spot now that he just got into the france squad. Given he won't play every game like he was last season, he might be at risk of missing out - think this is why there was a bit of speculation about his return to Arsenal

What a time.
Great show , really enjoyed it. I watched over 20 of his games this last season and I thought he was brilliant but I took alot of flak for my opinions about how good he is. The show backed up my observations on what I saw on the pitch and gives me some vindication on my views. For me it's now up to Arteta to get the best out of him and get him to sign a new contract. If Arteta fails some serious questions need to be asked about weather Arteta is costing the club talent in how he treats players.

Saliba has the physique, the height, technique, speed and vision. He is an excellent one to one defender and he obviously knows how to operate as unit in the backline. His passing completion rate is very good and he has anti pressing attributes. He should be more than ready to challenge White for a starting position, hence I was disappointed with Arsenal not to give him the chance past season and insist of purchasing White.
He is going to be awesome.
Fantastic show, FK. Nice one for getting Juls on. Considering what Saliba will bring to Arsenal, he might be able to reduce the pressure on Tomiyasu and, dare I even suggest it, even Thomas Partey - seeing as how injury prone they've proven to be so far. Also, the greater number of substitutions in the PL next season might allow CBs to switch more when one is struggling or on a yellow card. On that note, I think this extra subs rule will significantly favour the bigger teams with deeper squads and thus that extra depth will be crucial for an Arsenal team with Top 4 ambitions next season. And if we aren't able to get him to sign a new contract this year, Champions League qualification might make the difference between keeping him long term and not. He could prove to be our Van Dijk.

Although, with Saliba, the fans should exercise some patience, the french league is not on the same level as the English league, so he will most definitely need a season to adjust to the pace & dynamics of the league. We need a rodri/fabinho type of 6, someone who‘s decent defensively but extremly good when it comes to playing with the ball at their feet. Bissouma is quite the opposite but would therefore fit the spurs system better. Conte wants to defend and then counter, give the ball to the front three and let them do their job which doesn‘t ask much of bissouma going forward
