@LatteFirm
i saw Tomi come on at the weekend against Atalanta and he went to LB, he's versitile and very quick, like a rocket! and both footed like Cazorla, i see the bologna fans on twitter say he's better at RB than CB or LB, and i hope he's been bought to be our RB. he's even played in midfield! , he's been learning english each week too, i look forward to seeing him soon
he probably could play as a midfielder too
@@sofyanfirdaus2583 Yes he can play because his skill of passing and carrying the ball. He would do well as a defensive midfielder because his skill to steal the ball and use both feet (quick passes after taking the ball)
Also he has awesome sense of positioning and he fits in Artetas profile, inverted..
His versatility is definitely a plus point. I thought he was going to be a run of the mill RB. How little I knew!
Yes he's definitely going to be our starting RB for a long time.
Best signing for Arsenal since Thierry Henry
Great to see that Nimo, an Italian football expert, has more knowledge of Arsenal’s transfer strategy and plan of playing style clearly, in comparison to Gary Neville, a ‘Premier League expert’, who can’t seem to make head nor tails of it. Keep up the great work FK!
He certainly has an interesting opinion on it, I think it's still early to say whether it's 'knowledge'. My main reason to doubt him is that he thinks Arsenal bought Tomiyasu to play as a right centre-back in a Conte-style back three system, but if that is the case then who plays right-back? For me I'd be very surprised if Tomiyasu doesn't play as right-back at least for this first season, simply because Cedric and Chambers are so flawed and AMN wants to play in midfield (and is also flawed imo). Right back is our pressing need, so it makes as much sense that he's just been signed as a good player to play there. So while it's an interesting suggestion that we're building for Conte, but it still seems premature given we're three games into the season, the owners seem to be backing Arteta, and as Nimo himself says Conte is doing television work for the foreseeable future.
That said, it was a really fascinating video and the stats and Nimo's explanation of Tomiyasu's role and style go a long way to supporting his argument regarding Conte, which was very interesting to consider regardless of whether it turns out true or not. If I'm honest I don't watch much of Gary Neville, but I can't imagine there's many places that give a more comprehensive overview of Arsenal than this channel.
It's staggering how foolish the English pundits & how worse the English referees are... And to think that the pl is the most popular league. It deserves more & better. 🙌
@@ParisianWeetabix saying that Tomi is gonna be playing as a rcb in a back 3 could be very true. When defending arteta uses a back 4 Which is most likely going to be tierney, Gabriel, White and tomi. Buck When attacking Arsenal sets up in a 3-2-5 When They Are in the opposition half with tierney being on the far left of the front 5. I would expect to see either esr or saka right beside tierney and either laca or Auba in the middle. Then on the right of the striker ødegaard and either saka or pepe on the far right. This is why i dont believe we Are going for a traditionel right back like max aarons. Tomi should fit this system perfectly being able to play as a rb in the back 4 When defending But as a rcb When attacking in a back 3. Hope this helps you understand.
If arsenal signed Messi Neville would find something wrong with it
I was really disappointed with Gary Neville on Sky today - and you're right, the strategy was clear.
By far the best arsenal channel. Not even the official arsenal channel comes close. Good work.
My man, that's such a lovely comment - I even tweeted it. Thank you!
@@LatteFirm Yes just provide the information, all the required details and maybe give your opinion but don't impose your opinion. That is why I love this Channel. Lovely that you are not trying to sell negativity. That is the last thing I want for my club. Thanx Latte Firm once again.
This guy should be on sky sports, love his voice 😭
Who, me or Nimo? LMAO
@@LatteFirm you 💯
Was literally waiting the whole day for this, he looks really underrated and brw love your content
Ben, that's mad - thank you so much for watching and for your kind words.
FK has done it again, How I want Latte Firm to win the award, all ythe breakdowns are just amazing man. Keep it up
So glad you're enjoying the content Michael. Thank you so much for watching, and for your kind words.
Everything he said about Tomiyasu as a player is correct but he got the tactics slightly wrong. If you want to know how he’ll be utilised, just look at City or Liverpool. It’s not a back 3 it’s a back 4 with an inverted RB. We tend to attack in a 325 formation with our CF in the middle, our RW occupying the Width on the right, our No. 10 in the right half space, our LW in the Left half space and Tierney occupying the Wide area on the left. We have two holding midfielders occupying the centre of the pitch and our CBs around the halfway line. As for the RB, he tucks in, and acts as the right side of the back 3 in that 325 press with our LCB covering the spot that Tierney vacated and our RCB covering the middle. So it looks like a back 3 whilst attacking but it’s not a back 3. With Tomiyasu tucking in, our midfielder (usually Xhaka 🙄) doesn’t have to cover for Tierney in that LCB position, that would be Gabriel’s role with White in the middle and Tomiyasu on the right. But that’s only when attacking. When defending, it becomes a 442.
wagwan Kim, good perspective
@@jaytheophils6630 Kim 😂😂😂 … but thanks for the feedback! I enjoy the tactical side of football a lot. That was just a shortened explanation of the tactics/ style of play that Arsenal are trying to develop. It’s a really complex system where every piece/ player has a role to play and if one piece doesn’t work the entire system implodes unless you have players who are willing work really really hard. Btw, are you Jamaican as well? lol 😅
I'm absolutely not a tactics man, by any stretch - so I will go with you on this!
Arteta has no tactics
After failing with his back four he wants to give back 3 a go again .
Great show and guest seems pretty knowledgeable.
Have to say though, people seem very confused by the prospect of a inverted fullback and a 4231-->325 formation
Thank you so much, Josh. Must be honest, I am/was!
This guy KNOWS his football. Love hearing non-prem fans, often so knowledgeable
Nimo is great, Ryan. Thanks for watching, and for stopping by to leave such kind words! Stay tuned and please subscribe if you've not already done so - it really is appreciated!
I’ve no idea who this bloke is but no one in the whole entire world can be worse than Calum Chambers!
Great breakdown as usual. The way Nimo described the Bologna coach, Siniša Mihajlović as a coach who thinks he's a 'genius' who is constantly tinkering with the lineup, causing problems for his own team reminds me of a certain coach we have at Arsenal! Tomi should feel at home haha. Na in all seriousness I really hope he solves our RB issues, he seems like a very decent player
I thought that was sneaky insinuation .
I think thousands of fellow gooners were thinking the same.
My man, thank you so much. Loved Nimo
I see Arteta reverting back to the back 3 that gave him his initial success. Watch him play 3-4-3
Leno
Tomiyasu. White Gabriel
AMN. Partey. Odegaard. Tierney
Saka. Aubameyang Smith-Rowe
Subs:
Odegaard for Lokonga
Partey for Xhaka/Elneny
White for Holding
Tomiyasu for Chambers
Gabriel for Holder
Saka for Pepe
Smith-Rowe for Martinelli
Aubameyang for Lacazette
Leno for Ramsdale
Tierney for Tavares
AMN for Cedric
Would love to see this line up, but I'm worried about this type of set up while Partey, Gabriel and White are still unavailable, they'll probably be the key components for defending and building up from the back
My problem is whenever he used a back 3 he was never expansive in the way he played . We always looked very defensive , I’m just hoping we look more like a tuchel or graham potter back 3
Same.
@@LatteFirm 😳
That was one of the best Breakdowns of ANY player on any channel i've watched - Nimo was Awesome - and i liked his analysis of how Arsenal - with or without Arteta - could integrate him into a system with our other signings - intelligent and challenging our perceptions
Woah! Scott! Thank you so much for watching, and for your kind words.
I think the analysis that we're going for a back 3 is sort of incorrect, or rather it's only half true. I think we'll play 4231 with Tomiyasu playing RB the same way Walker plays for city, essentially covering the right half space with some capacity to advance but generally staying in line with the CBs or DMs to form either a 325 or 235 in attack. He'll defend the right back position without the ball as we rotate back into a back 4.
this would make sense as bolgona also have aback four ,4231 that becomes a 3241
Also for England, Walker generally slotted in to a 3 while Shaw was often England's best attacking outlet.
That’s a top analogy Peter
Tactics not my strong point, so I'll go with you, Peter!
When he was talking about Bolonga's manager, I thought he was talking about Arteta 😂
LOL
Me too!
God I hope this guy is an improvement on Chambers, Cedric, Bellerin and AMN. I'm praying the next 26 minutes is good news 🙏🏼
Best bit of news: This team looks like it's being built for Conte. 😳🤪
Worst bit of news: Conte won't join mid season! 🙁😭
We would sell all of them next.
Likewise - Nimo really threw me when he talked about Conte!
So glad I found this channel, brilliant insight and just an all round great listen.
Thank you!
Thanks for watching, and for stopping by to leave such kind words! Stay tuned and please subscribe if you've not already done so - it really is appreciated!
Great analysis, helped me in understanding the thinking behind signing him. Hope he performs to his best and improves arsenal
Thank you for watching, my man.
@@LatteFirm hope I could feature on your fans forum. Huge fan
Those crucifying Arteta need to give him time. Each coach has the way he sets up his team to win and his style of play. If you don't give Maurinho players who can defend then he can not win. Arteta has been given an opportunity to get players he needs to play his style of football. We need to give him time and see what happens. Pep talked highly if him reason we should trust him more. There are no magician coaches in football....we have seen a coach sacked by one top team only to deliver with another.
Hope you’re right, Kennedy!
Some real consistent quality Arsenal content, one of the best Arsenal channels around. Keep up the good work!
I really appreciate that, Caleb. Thank you for watching.
Thank you FK! I’ve only had UA-cam compilations to watch so great to have a comprehensive analysis of him. Loving your work as always.
Thanks, Matt. I hope you learned as much as I did!
Good content with excellent guests
Thanks, JM. Appreciate that.
@lattefarm get deluded gooner on a video one day
Samir, working on a collab!
I want Erik Ten Hag to be our next manager. He is absolutely brilliant manager in terms of his man management is up there with Simone, and Klopp especially young players look what his done at Ajax Fc and it’s sort of direction which we are heading at young talented, potential could be world class in couple years who’s need to be developed and manage properly which he (Erik Ten Hag) is excellent can do that.
He is not good defensively.
There is zero chance of Arsenal changing the manager in a hurry cos i am absolutely sure they have not contemplated appointing another manager mid-season ....the big investment is the material proof of that. If things descend into chaos they would bring back Wenger as a stopgap for the remainder of the season ...no doubt. I see Bruno Lage as more of an Arsenal type manager if he has good season at Wolves.
@@om4482 my exact sentiments too
Shout, but I think Mikel is here to stay. And contracted until 2023.
Agree.
Latte Firm just keeps getting better!!!
Thank you so much, Ed. Easy when guests are elite.
Great video, really informative. I wonder if Arteta wants to play a back 5 with Tomi or a back 4 with Tomi as an inverted RB. Food for thought!
I think it'll be a 3-4-3 like Nimo says - and Conte!
All i heard was “ this team is built for Antonio Conte” and I’m good
LOL - threw me too!
@@jamilakhtar8889 🤔 I’d hate for the team to lose at the same time I want a Manager that didn’t change his mind every damn game.
This player seems to be the best value player in the world lol. Let's see if he can do this in the fastest league in the world
I am deeply intrigued. Hope he does well.
Tomiyasu has been placed by the Japanese soccer federation as a key player for the 2020 Olympics in his country. His long feeds with both his left and right feet, his interceptions that read the flow of the game, and his through passes that can change the course of a game with a single shot. He is also a good long shoot player who doesn't hit many shots, but when he does, his success rate is over 50%. Like Shohei Ohtani, Japanese athletes tend to peak late in life, often in their late twenties or early thirties, and he can support Arsenal for a long time. Serious, quiet and passionate. His problem is the injuries he has had since coming to Europe, as he was a key player in the A and Olympic teams, he did not get a lot of time off and played with injuries for a long time. I think he was never in 100% condition during his time in Italy. This year, for the first time in his career, he had a full treatment and took some time off from the Olympics to recover...
Ohh also he can play DMF, OMF.
Insight! Thank you for sharing.
Best Arsenal fan Channel! Smooth and balanced as ever!
Woah, kind words - thank you so much.
What I have noticed is both Tavares and Tomiyasu prefer to shoot with their weaker foot.
Does it mean Arteta will try to play with 2 introverted fullbacks on both sides?
The transfers have been good but it's for the long term.
What about the now?
Arsenal's bottom of the league we need to see a reaction.
Shout, but unlikely.
Are Arsenal fans really excited to see this guy?..... really?!.....
Very much so, intrigued is the word.
16:57 DONT GAS MEEEEE
LMAO
My source for arsenal player technical breakdowns thank you.
Thank you so much for watching, and for your kind words.
I followed Tomiyasu at bologna and he is just the type of defender we need. Never expected us to sign him, hopefully he can help take us back to where we want to be!
Love that, Lewis.
That bologna manager Nimo described who does he remind you of guys? 😂😂😂 it should be easy answer
LOL
So if he is on the money we would be looking at something like - Leno AMN Tom white Gab KT TP MO ESR Saka Auba
Exactly.
So the right back Arsenal bought to replace Bellerin is actually a CB. You can't make this shit up.
LMAO
Can he play LCB? in a 3 - I am just thinking how do we fit Saliba into the system with White & Gabriel too.
Yes, can definitely play LCB which has me worried about Saliba.
Tomiyasu is that low key signing that ends up exceeding everyone's expectations. I'm buzzing to see him properly embedded. His mindset is what I love, does his job well but thinks for the team.
Thanks, Larry. Really intrigued to see how he does.
Latte: Arsenal have finally got their man.
Me: *Raises eyebrow*
Latte: Arsenal fans are very, very excited...
Me: *Surprised Pikachu face*
Also Latte: I've never seen him play.
Me: Neither have 99% of us Arsenal fans. Let's just hope he's a diamond in the rough.
LMAO
Interesting breakdown. No less than we've come to expect.
Looking at all the stats and heatmaps I think Arteta will use him exactly like he did with Chambers when we're building up play. Since KT pushes far forward, Xhaka often shifted wider and Partey (or Elneny) central with Chambers occupying the right central role (what people call inverted fullback). This was essentially a 3 man midfield ahead of the 2 CBs and then we essentially had 5 players further forward stretching play in a 2-3-5 sort of formation.
Interesting nonetheless! Good luck to him.
I'm hugely intrigued now. Thank you so much for watching, and for your kind words.
My mind has been blown. When the expert says that this team looks like it has been bought for Conte. 😍😍🥰
That's a shame, Conte doesn't manage us. And he never will.
Realistically Conte would never manage a young squad like this as he's a quick success manager and needs performing Top notch players to achieve what he wants
Highly doubt it. Conte used a 3-4-3 formation at chelsea. Where does odegaard play? He's a no. 10. Who plays as a rwb? Who plays in back 3? Coz we only have 2 decent cbs-white & gabriel. Holding & chambers can't even win headers against 5'7 &. 5'8" players.
Likewise! He really threw me when he mentioned Conte!
@@JD-mc3bl whos plays in the back 3..? This whole video is about Tomiyasu playing in the back 3. Conte used Eriksen a bit in a 3412 if I’m not mistaken but Odegaard can also play on the right. Though I agree, I don’t think the Conte theory makes sense. But the back 3 aspect does.
The breakdown we've all been waiting for.. since yesterday
Man, too kind. Thanks, Jay.
He proof football manager can get it right with a wonderkid label. I'm more concerned wit our own managers arrogance kola as cb he barely a capable lb n thats his pos let alone a cb 🤬
I'm intrigued by his profile - let's see how he develops.

LOL - let's see.
Good work 👏
Don't think ol' mate got the J-League / Wenger link.
LOVE IT
Arsenal under Arteta play 4-2-3-1 on paper but build up with 3-2-5/2-3-5, so it makes sense to sign Tomiyasu he can tuck in as a 3 in possession but also he can be pushed further up.
Yes!
I just want competent defenders 😪 😫
Me too, me too.

he has leadership qualities! if that's true then please bench xhaka forever!
Ha! I love Xhaka, but I'll let you off!

Nimo was excellent.
Possibly going to start at RB and transition in attack to RCB with Tierney practically at LW, playing high up the pitch🤔
Yes!
Very excited about this signing! Offers some extra positional depth, much needed height, and we’re finally adding a player who is TWO FOOTED!!!

I hope Pepe make use of Tomi efficiently. Pepe can rely on Tomi of defending and no need for him to drop back to low and focus on attacking. We need to make him looks like Adama Traore "Ferrairi Tanker". Does he reaches 75 points mark in FIFA 2022?
Yes, Pepe must bang this season.

I know I'm not the only one who's ears perked up when he said Conte!
The other great thing about that is it would suggest Edu is driving the recruitment more than Arteta, so we won't get stuck in a situation where the new coach won't be that compatible with the squad

@@LatteFirm I lived in Italy for 3 years, I was lucky enough to see lots of AC Milan games at the san Siro 1988 -1990 while Sacchi was in charge of the famous Costacurta, Franco Baresi, Paolo Maldini AC Milan Defence. My Dad was born in Hornsey road, my Mum is St Anne’s Road so I was obviously an Arsenal fan since 6 or 7 visits to Highbury was one of my earliest memories and was season ticket holder along with 12 other family and friend during 92 to 2002 and was lucky enough to see George Graham’s Famous back 4 defenders and although the game has changed in many ways I truly believe a great team starts with a great defence and a strong communicator defensive Midfield like Baresi and Adams and Vieira were, as Arsenal are rebuilding who is going to be the Rock the strong communicator like Van Dyke is at Liverpool ?
It’s a quality not shown in analytics or not seen in video clips this is link from a good team to a great team. Perhaps with your current knowledge you could do a show on who could fill this gap at Arsenal, many thanks
Darmesh is that you
Haha, love that.
But isn't his role and White's almost the same. Both play right side of a back 3. Both also seem to push the ball forward. Both of them aren't physical presence.
Also where does AMN fit in the plan for this season. And what about Saliba, I really hope Arsenal don't screw his chances just for the heck of it.
I'm anxious, but intrigued.
Great show
Thank you so much for watching, and for your kind words.
He’ll be better than Sol Campbell
Haha, LOVED Sol. Big statement.
Cracking podcast! Brilliant work, I love following these chats with the specialists - the Aaron Ramsdale discussion was prolly the most incisive!
If I may, just thought there was a little bit more room in this one, just to see a little more examples of his decision making under various situations, his trademark balls/runs/moves, his potential as assessed by his mistakes/strengths, examples of his versatility..Perhaps the GK deep dive set the bar very high?
Still, thanks for the fantastic work for gooners worldwide! Good luck 👍

Great video. he seems to fit the puzzle. The new signings have all been praised for their mentality- maybe not Tavares, but Sambi has been captain, Odegaard is for Norway, Tomi has been for Japan, Ramsdale and White have the mentality. Lots of anticipation this season.
I think so too. I'm so intrigued. Thanks for watching, and for stopping by to leave such kind words! Stay tuned and please subscribe if you've not already done so - it really is appreciated!
Not sure I can see Arsenal playing a 3 at the back long term with only White good enough to play in the middle. I think it might be like City’s back 4 where Walker has the stature and recovery pace to be in a back 3 when they are attacking and can get back when needed
Same, but let's see. I'm intrigued.
I’m not an Arsenal fan or even a PL follower (Serie A and Inter for me), but this is a great episode. Well done!
