This is the most informative Video about these cards. That i have found on here. Thank you for putting that together. I currently have the infinite privilege card. For no other reasons then wanting the fancy one lol. Right after i got it. I found out theres still one above it lol.
I used my RBC points to fly from YVR to JFk (rt) in March and with the left over points, I flew to London and saved $ by stopping in Reykjavik. The taxes were $300 less than a direct flight🥰 I flew back from Dublin on my bmo ascend points, and that card covered the taxes😳 I am too worried to get a Cobalt. I don’t want to eat at a restaurant only tpfind out they don’t accept amex.
I have the platinum and changed the infinite I held last year to a no fee to avoid the annual fee on two cards, I’m thinking after I use the points to down grade to the ion+ and leave it at that. RBC has rubbed me the wrong way over the last year and a half so I’m slowly transitioning all my products out of RBC, good bonus though on those cards just quite a big markup I’m finding on redemption with avion points, 65 000 gets maybe two nights of a hotel or a short distance return flight for one person with a pretty hefty fee tacked on from the airlines.
Makes sense, the Ion+ is a really good card to hold onto. Once you get a good chunk of points you can upgrade to the Platinum/Infinite to redeem them at optimal value.
I have the ion+ which is a good card but You don't get access to the Air travel redemption schedule So what i'd recommend doing is Keeping your current card
After watching this video, I find that RBC Avion Infinite is pretty bad. I pay $120 annual fee but most of time my avion only worth < 1 cent/point. Practically, I have nearly no options to redeem at > 1 cent/point. Any no-feed credit card can do better than this! If I convert avions to BA/CX/AA, I need to spend at least $50,000 each year to be able to redeem an economy ticket?? So, the only reasonable way to use this card is to get welcome bonus, convert the points and then cancel the card.
I think redeeming via the fixed points grid would get you over 1 CPP, but as you said, the earn rates are not the strongest compared to much of the competition. The strategy you described is what many people end up doing to get alot of points pretty fast.
The ION cards cannot book travel through the fixed points grid, or transfer to airline partners (except for WestJet). That being said, you can transfer your points earned on the ION over to any Avion card, and then book travel to maximize your value!
Yes, you need to link your British Airways Executive Club & Qatar Airways Privilege club accounts, and then transfer points from Avion > BA. The points should show up on both BA & Qatar when you log in. Let us know if you have any issues!
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I spent 2 hrs on the phone with RBC and they couldn't explain this. What about the "Flexible" booking option? The advisor said that it will cover all of the taxes and fees for a 1% redemption value. I guess that makes the most sense for long haul flights? Thanks in advance. :)

Would love a video on how you use avion points to book Qatar Q suite flights or even British Airway flights
Super informative! Thank you for the video

most places have amaex sticker, u can also look up online if restaurant is supported by amex, but I find it's rare when they don't accept it
Super informative! Thanks
RBC ION+ Visa vs RBC infinti credit card
Which one?
I fly to work a lot and pay a lot for gas
I don’t like Aeroplan - I’ve lost my status 25k because I wasn’t traveling before my points got cancelled - not cool Aeroplan
Found video very informative

Wish you would do the business ones 😁
We have that on our list for this year!
Is the Ion card much different than these ones mentioned? The ion says "avion rewards" on the right of it.

Hi, do you know what is the ratio from ION+ to Avion? is it 1:1? @@creditverse
Is it possible to transfer RBC Avion points to Qatar Airways Avios? If yes, what is the procedure to do that?

What would be the points per cent ratio for Avion to avois transfer?
Thanks
@@sagarjadav78551:1

Rbc points are useless. Expect 6 months to a year for a reward to be shipped and you'll need to make at least a dozen phone calls. They're useless.
when do the points show up?
Points should show up after your statement date.
Is the annual fee every month or every year
Annual fees are incurred once per year.
Prorated though
