It's kind of hilarious. I'd rather learn from Roberto Blake, vidIQ, Think Media and all the other greats out there teaching us their wisdom - for FREE!
I really love this video and your transparency. I think the word, "influencer" kinda has a bad connotation. Some people think of them as some vapid person who only cares about being famous. But the truth is, it is a ton of work. Not only that, we have to become really good at things most of us didn't know before like editing, photography, script writing, marketing, etc. Really love your videos and all the great info, Kaya. Thanks so much!
This was very enlightening to watch. I am so happy to see you get all the recognition you deserve. You really articulated everything so well. As always I learnt a lot listening to you. I enjoyed this. Thank you. And all the best too❤
Thank you!! Appreciate it so much-I knew this upload might not interest the masses but that it would resonate with whoever it was meant to! Thank you thank you! 💜
I would absolutely NOT take an influencer degree...This seems like a way that institutions want to remain relevant. Additionally, I would rather learn directly from content creators online than being in a classroom. Educational institutions are going against the grain as most subjects (barring professions like architecture, engineering, and medical professions) can be learned outside of academia. Academia has been gatekeeping for so long, and YT, whatever issues it may have, has been freeing for different types of people who have not been completely welcomed in. While I think institutions are great for the philological studies, I'm not forking over tens of thousands of dollars (at least in the United States) to another super-funded institution again and neither would I recommend another young adult to do so.
Yesss to this. I think while some people do excel in these hyper-curated environments… it also makes me question how successful you would be outside of it if you couldn’t research and learn the skills on your own, how would you adapt in such a fast-moving industry, when you learnt your skills over 4 years… And you are so right that UA-cam and the internet really has freed us in so many ways!
Okay let's hear it--are you more likely to invest in an "influencing degree" or in a course held by a creator you follow? 👀

Thank you so much for the kind comment and for watching! I think you're absolutely right--the public perception is SO different from the reality.
