Of course they tried, but they didn't do what they should have, which is get the foul on him somehow. Jump into him, make it difficult on the refs. Force him to guard Tatum in switches. This is the difference between them winning and not is getting Steph off the floor. To be a title team Celtics need to be able to execute on these changes@@alanarriaga6204

      Kareem better than LeGM….
      Magic probably better than LeGM
      even Kobe probably better
until he has 5 rings, not including his ridiculous IST participation trophy, those two dudes are definitely above LeGM
AND they all did it with their respective dynasty, whereas LeGM was basically trying to cheat and personally devise teams behind the scenes to increase his odds
meanwhile, Curry literally changed the whole game, no 🧢 whether people love or hate the 3pt revolution, the man single-handedly changed the way everyone looks at the game; and even showed the beginnings of that in March Madness nearly going to the final four - which ended up being ALL FOUR #1 teams that year

Agreed. If the name of the game is BASKETball, and you are witnessing a man who can put it in the basket at a higher rate from a higher distance than anyone ever has, THAT merits his entrance into the top 10 club. The 21'-22' Finals also solidified Steph's place among the greatest ever. He practically put us on his back that year, especially against the Celtics, and earned every square inch of that Finals MVP trophy. People can disagree, but I have Steph in my all-time greatest ever

People just trying to gloss over the fact that Steph OWNS LeBron James in the finals. The times LeBron beat the Warriors with the Lakers didn't equate to him actually winning a title but I just love watching them battle so much. I'm hoping my Warriors can get it together to beat them because they haven't beat them in the playoffs since LeBron came to the Lakers. So, in my humble opinion if Steph beats LeBron in the playoffs and wins ring #5 in the process how can he be denied anymore?

    • @RDSports5
      @RDSports5 5 місяців тому +21

@Stealther I tend to agree with that theory, except when a guy is so overwhelmingly dominant at the most critical skill in the sport: shooting. Steph has also proven it in the playoffs/Finals, so to me he's a top 5 player of all time.

It's only a reach because his career was basically Michael's but with one less ring and only 2 FMVPs. There's no sensible argument for Kobe over MJ. Lebron and Kareem are short on titles but they have the stats to make it arguable. Truly, I think Lebron is the only other candidate besides MJ because of his all around ability in the game. Lebron's passing ability and IQ is absolutely unmatched by other GOAT contenders.

Imho, at this point the front court of Jonathan Kuminga and Trayce Jackson Davis are better than 2024 draymond and 2024 Looney. Just younger, feistier, more athletic, and more productive scoring. To me, every contender for that title has something that seperates them from the rest, something that makes them stand out. MJ with his mentality and athlethicism, LeBron with his longevity and IQ. For Steph, it would be his conditioning and shooting ability. Steph can impact the game in many different ways, he can play a more assist-oriented PG style, but he can also go full ballistic and hit 10+ 3s a night as a SG, all while creating insane gravity no matter what he does. I disagree with Kenny from the standpoint that even though Steph may not affect the game in many other ways statistically the way that other GOAT candidates do if he has an off shooting night-- he still affects the game as much from an intangible standpoint as the other guys because of how much you have worry about him the way he stretches your defense thin. I think that the only other players that stuck fear in their opponents the way that he does is Jordan and Shaq. Lebron and Kobe -- they can go through stretches in a game where they get passive and you aren't worried about where they are on the court. Kobe's shot selection was often poor so you could count on him taking himself out of a game at times. With Kareem, I think that you have some hope that you can prevent the offense from getting it in to him early easily because he is more stationary. But Jordan because of his speed and quickness and relentlessness and Shaq because of the foul trouble he causes and how much he changes the pace of the game, they put fear in you cause you have to complete change your game plan for them. And Steph is the same way. He creates panic attacks when your guarding him because you can't ever not know where he is, and you can't ever give him more than 6 inches of space. He's terrifying to play against in a way that I don't think any other players besides Jordan and Shaq were -- but at least with Shaq, you can get him tired and you can count on him missing a bunch of free-throws. The version of Steph we've seen over the past 5 years, where he's picked up size and strength, and you can't bully him off of the ball, is one of the 4 greatest players ever.

And when Curry scores most of the time, it is 1.5 times more points per shot. 2's vs 3's.

When Steph makes all defensive team a few times then he can be in the convo. MJ, Shaq, and Kobe are all 2 - way players. THAT is the difference.

Let’s be real. Media always hyped up LeBron even before he had his 4th ring to be in the GOAT conversation.
That’s WAY before Lebron’s 4th ring and all the all time records he broke in recent years.
LeBron CLEARLY is in the GOAT conversation right now but why can’t Steph be in the GOAT conversation if LeBron could do that with 3 rings?

    • @auntiez4917

Clearly LeBron is NOT in the GOAT conversation. LeBron is a hyped-up media manifestation. LeBron has done nothing but superteam hop and stat pad. Great player...yes. GOAT...not even halfway close.
I'll take Steph over LeBron. Thanks.

The Boston Celtics had every opportunity to win this game, but (mostly) Tatum and Brown (at the end) gave the game away. Steph will get all the credit, but Klay kept them in the game, CP3 ran the team, and Jackson-Davis was fantastic. But the Celtics gave the game away.

Down the stretch they played just as bad as they did in the Finals. They don't have anybody on the team good and smart enough to demand and just make the right play under pressure in crunch time.

Celtics insistence on allowing Tatum to run an iso, step back contested 3 whenever it’s a last second go ahead bucket situation is remarkable. Tied game, the guy has not had a good game but that’s the play they run.

Baffles me how Lebron is automatically in Top 3 but were it not for Curry and GSW Lebron Could possibly have 4 more rings....Weird how their logic works; and if Klay doesn't get hurt that one season GSW could have had 5 rings.

LeBron is barely a top 10 player. LeBron had a ton of help to achieve the success that he's experienced. Media help, superteam help, league help in 2016, league help in 2020 🙄🙄. LeBron is a great player...but had to have too much luck and help for my taste.
I agree with you about GSW vs. Toronto if Klay doesn't get hurt. They win that chip without KD. I believe that.
