Ive had trouble accepting that I'm not good enough to make something look like a photo...but the best advice I got was "if someone wanted a photo they would just take a photo" accept your own style 😊
Same level of skills here. I see it differently though. There is no such thing as "ACCEPTING your style". Accepting sounds more like accepting that you cannot get any better. The idea behind mastering skills of realistic paintings is that only when you can re-produce reality with all its nuances, you can tweak it with full control and develop a meaningful genuine consistent style. Any perceived "style" before that is merely lack of skills and out of your control, and cannot be pursued and matured into an identity of an artist. Of course, if you paint for fun it is a different thing. In any case, let's not give up! :)
As an artist and photographer, I can say that taking photos is not the same as painting realism. They are worlds apart. I get a lot of clients pay me to do realistic portraits of pets from photos...sometimes photos I took myself which they could have just had blown up into a canvas but paid for a painting instead...in realistic style....so yes, there is a point to it. To them and me, they are not the same. All this said, I think a lot of people develope a bitterness towards realism due to now being able to achieve it themselves to a standard they would like or feeling they have to do it because it is the thing to do. In reality, they are free to pursue whatever style resonates best with them. I don't think anybody is telling all artists they all need to do realism. I enjoy various different styles but it never means I feel the need to criticize styles I am not so much into. They all have a place. Let others create what they want because even when it comes to looser styles, everything has been done and there is literally nothing new so they are not really being anymore creative than realist artists...
@@behzadutubeyou get better, eventually you get to a level that is acceptable for public viewing… as an artist you’ll probably never be happy. Even in your own style the art will improve, that’s the ideal scenario. For me I’m shit but only just starting. I learnt guitar really well in a year so hopefully can learn painting too 😂
In my experience, a lot of people just want decoration... You can present them the most beautiful 100 hours-complex piece of art, and they will choose the other one. Right now I'm doing half and half what they want and what I love creating myself 😋 That works well.
For me I’m a book illustrator. So I work to very big commissions, which means people want to buy my art before I even start. It was a decision I kind of made
I 100% agree with the wanting to make something that looks like art, when i was about 18 my aspiration was to be a great artist that could make something so you couldnt tell if it was a photo or not, i saw that as talent and i was actually making some pretty realistic paintings, but you see i would always want to paint every single hair, every part of it had to be smooth to the canvas, i was a perfectionist, yes my art looked pretty good but it also was extremely tiring and i eventually stopped because i had trouble finishing paintings because of all the effort it required. Now im a bit older and getting back into it with a whole new perspective, im following artists that i never would have before, these are more real down to earth people who are making art whether its perfect or not, i am trying to find once again what my style is. I still have a love for realism, however the main goal of mine is similar to yours, i wish to free up the style and have more fun with it, make it realistic but also have some elements in there that make it your own. Ive been watching a few of your videos now and I'm hoping to re-teach myself again and i feel like you have a lots of useful tips so thank you for your great videos you are helping people like me on the journey to making something great once again.
I was excited when you went for more realism in the eyes. The eyes made this painting pop. It is abstract and loose, but the eyes make it seem realistic. So much beauty. I have a difficult time with changing my art style, I always want to make it realistic. This was so refreshing. Now it makes me want to try it
I think you have a perfect mix…not a banana taped to the wall, nor a photo realistic painting. This one is an imaginative and painterly tiger that has realistic beauty ❤ Such a great piece!
I agree with you.If I want a picture I will get a picture.I like art to look like a rendition of a subject, not a photo of it.I love your art and thank you so much for sharing your art and skills with us !!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I can absolutely agree. I really like your latest painting. This is so much more wonderful than “just” a photorealistic painting. For me photorealistic paintings don’t transit feeling and emotins. There is nothing to see or find in them. But this more “abstract” style let me dive deep into the painting and feel it.
The hardest thing for me as an artist is to find my own style , and stop copying reference exactly how it is. I think it limits my creativity , sometimes it's good to get out of your comfort zone and try something new even if it doesn't always work out how you want it to be.
You are my go to . I watch other " better" Artists, but I actually search your videos out. I love your humble encouragement in the journey we're on. Thanks.
Your videos are so inspirating. I've been trying to do painting that look like photos for so long, and being frustrated because I could not reach the perfect "photo finish" style. After I watched this, I wanted to do something more bold. I did my first abstract painting and it was just amazing!! Just having fun, no pressure and amazing result. Thank you so much, I'm growing with you as an artist!! :)
The other thing I’d suggest, don’t compete. Have an abundant mindset. The trick is for people to connect with you, which I think you are going to be able to do easily having watched your videos. Create experiences around the purchase process - one person I’ve heard of creates a whole show event with entertainment. Sells loads. People buy you, as well as the art. Selling one offs is good, but becoming collectible is another level. All the best 😊 (oh… I’m a northerner as well)
Every artist has his/her jounrney....which evolves over time. Best to listen to ur own inner voice, thats the best guide. Do ur own practice, create what makes u and the viewer(if it matters) happy. And the journey will guide you along the way 🙏. There are no short cuts. Enjoyed watching the video ❤️🙏
That is so gorgeous ❤ I like this style so much more than your previous work and I can tell you enjoy it much more😂 . I am also really happy for you that you can paint three days in a row. Thats living the dream! Congratulations !
That was amazing .. when I saw the thumbnail I thought oh another photorealistic one?! I love realism but not exactly the one that might be confused with a photo.. but I clicked on the video I don’t know why exactly.. and oh boy it turned out to be beautiful.. I loved it so so much. A little bit loose realism is just gorgeous ❤
The average person hasn't a clue as to what art is all about...they think if you can paint a tree or a barn you are an artist. Wow, just Wow!!! That's why I do art to please me. If someone else likes my work that's a bonus.

Thank you for making this video! I have a massive issue with comparing my art to others, but you've inspired me to let go and be content with my creations ✨️
Thank you! As an artist I think my subject HAS to lock like what is really looks like and am finally tearing myself away from that mind set. This painting shows us that even done loosely can be just as powerful if not more so than one done in great detail. 🥰
Thank you so much for this video🙏🏾, I am an upcoming artist and have been struggling to understand why and how people buy art but this explanation has really helped and inspired me to understand what creating art actually means and why people connect and buy art
I really appreciate your perspective and I agree that it is the feeling of the art that matters the most. Realism is good in that it informs you of the nuances of your subject. Stepping out into more flow & painterly technique adds a lot of value. I do think somewhere in the middle is the sweet spot. Your work is inspiring!
You and your works are so inspiring! It isn't quite often that an art along with an artist inspire you. But you do it. Thank you so much for sharing your work and your perspectives towards things. You have an amazing talent and a beautiful yet unique perspective towards art! That's quite fascinating. Besides, it takes a lot of courage to choose the path you love, rather than what comes your way. You did that, and that's great! And I absolutely love the art you create with animals! They're stunning! Looking forward to buying your art. ❤
Brilliant advice! Love it. I collect art which i completely feel connected to and aspire to create art myself with a similar effect. I hope one day someone will buy mine and feel the same way.

I used gesso on canvas to make textures and in a few months it broke and fell off the fabric because it does not have enough flexibility. If it were to be used on a board it might work. But since then I prefer to use acrylic paste for the volumes, which is more flexible and it grips better.

some years ago an artist told us that he does art that people want to buy to enable (fund) him to paint what he actually wants to paint (in his free time).

Any book, course recommendation regarding art styles throughout history? 😄 I saw really nice baroque artwork.. op art, pop art, line art.. so many cool stuff... Did you have lessons with teacher from time to time to learn from critiques?
Your art is gorgeous! I freaking love the painting you did. It so mind blown away. And I love your accent, also you thank your community for the support is really heartfelt. ^ ^ This video was very well made and I learn a lot from it and understood what people mean by connect in a deeper level. Subscribe! :D Btw sorry for the resubscribe spam... I had trouble on my end with it.
Oh my!! Good goat!! So beautiful and yes animals and beautiful women people buy!! Just spectacular work!! Time u get my age, you’ll be famous for sure!!
regards bro, gesso can be used or not it depends, over 600 paintings i didnt use so much gesso, but when i gve gesso i work with spatulas and 3 hands, also just little brushe down...Liquitex is best acrilics in my Serbia, and their mediums,....We doesnt have choice, with oils i lke Sennelier and Rembrandts also Windsor Newton oils and mediums, most time i must combined those 3 oils ,each time something mising.Italian linnen i llike...Your art is awesome.
I think it’s great 😮 I love it 😊 I better get on with my commission but in soft pastels. But this video has inspired me to give it ago with my Open acrylics and paint a lion, yes 👏🏻 unless I can do both mmmmmm

regards bro, gesso can be used or not it depends, over 600 paintings i didnt use so much gesso, but when i gve gesso i work with spatulas and 3 hands, also just little brushe down...Liquitex is best acrilics in my Serbia, and their mediums,....We doesnt have choice, with oils i lke Sennelier and Rembrandts also Windsor Newton oils and mediums, most time i must combined those 3 oils ,each time something mising.Italian linnen i llike...Your art is awesome.
