Every time I watch one of these videos it's like hanging out with an old friend! I so enjoy what you show us and find it so fascinating!! Thanks Dave for sharing!!
Thank you for the really nice comment Michael. Glad to hear you
are having a good time with us. Very much appreciate your taking the time to write in and also for watching the ride on the rails video my friend.
This has been a truly fascinating series. Who'd have thought there would be so much of interest to see on a 17 mile railroad. Thanks again for the ride.
Who would have thought is for sure Bob. I am amazed. Really do
appreciate your nice comment and for track traveling with me
in this mini series my friend.
Such Beautiful area and TRACKAGE.....Be interesting if a tourist Railway ever approached your Railway to run dinner and tourist trains ride......love Your rail singing when Hyrail Ttruck is going around the curve....very nice....LOL ...
As I said before, this was like taking a Sunday joy ride with my dad or with Gramps. Felt like a kid again, going "sight seeing"! Thank you for putting the track ride videos out; I love watching your videos. The tidbits of this and that are always neat and informative. Boy, are there LOTS of curves! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you so much Trena for the awesome comment. We so

Wow! Took a ride down memory lane with this video. I grew up in a coal town. Name was Beadling , Pa. About 15 miles southwest of Pittsburgh, Pa. As kids we would play in the slate dumps. The slate dumps were always smoldering. My mother would pour Tide in the bathwater to clean me up. After a while the slate dumps quit smoldering.
the piles of tailings were about 20 feet high. After the dumps quit smoldering the tailings turned red. They called it red dog. People would take the Redog from the dumps and put down the red dog on their driveways.. Many happy times roaming the hills around our town.
Lot of township roads around here were red dog Matt. Can't hardly get it anymore but you are right, it was cheap and well used back in the day. Slate dumps were perfect place for kids
to play....:-) Thank you for the nice comment and glad you enjoyed the video my friend.
After having looked at the whole railroad on Google satellite view, it sure is fun to be able to correlate a track level view. Thanks for these tours.
You are very welcome Jennifer, pleased to hear you have enjoyed.

Track work never ends, always something that needs to get done.
Your so right about that Michael. Track gets pounded by the
heavy freight and the weather conditions. I need you here to help me!
What I wouldn't give for a good man like you to be my buddy.

gotten your permission to patch in the vid you made of coming
into the harbor!
That sounds great with time laps of the tracks.
I will try and get that done Robert. May be next year as I currently
have enough videos already made to last into 2013. Appreciate
your writing in and for riding along my friend.
Very good Dave thank you for the entire track, now we know what both ends look like and lived the rock cuts and bridges, but didn't expect a literal wall at the end of the harbor. But thats cool to see it. Great series...
Your welcome Pappy and very glad you enjoyed. Do appreciate
your track traveling with us my friend.
Hi Dave, many thanks for the ride along! Having been a member of engine crew, it always amazes me how much effort is needed to keep the trains moving safely! Be safe!

Hey Dave, thank you so much for sharing this! I haven't commented on the last video or two, but I'm still watching these and enjoying you talking about your rails. It's so impressive how much you know about the track and the land surrounding it, but I guess that comes with all of the blood, sweat, and tears you've put in during your time there. It's a beautiful area and I'm so glad to see it through your "office!"
And I've been putting quite a few hours recently into getting the footage all together - I'm trying something a little different myself with a little narration to add to the visuals. It's taking a while but I'm happy with what I've come up with so far... hoping to have something to share very soon!
You are very welcome DietSeth, pleased to hear you have enjoyed.
We do appreciate your running track with us my friend. The only
one who has to be pleased with your videos are you, so make them
the way that suits you. if you are pleased then many others will
be also. Thanks so much for the very nice comment.
Excellent job of getting us over the road. When 3\5 of a mile is your longest section of tangent track it just has mining r r written all across it. When those hi-rail truck wheels were squealing you just know those curves are tight. Thanks much for the history and description of the USS mine and then pointing out the big slate piles. Wow that's huge like some. Of the iron ore mines in Michigan and Minnesota. I think looking at those aqua trucks on the old USS SD38 would really look great in the fog. Great tour of an industrial that lives like a Class 1 that is tended by a dedicated railroader who treats it with shortline TLC
Thank you so much Paul for the wonderful comment. I really do
appreciate your very nice words and for your track traveling with
me on this mini series my friend.
Thank you for bringing us this excellent video presentation, the weather was fine and clear. It was interesting about the track with joints across from each other, I understand that when track is constructed in this way that the joints can be prone to dipping, they would keep you busy trying to avoid that scenario. I suppose they would make it easier to take whole sections of track out. With continuous welded rail the problem does not occur as there is no joints to dip anyway! Thanks again for taking the time to produce this excellent series of videos.
You are very welcome John and thank you so much for the very
nice words. We do appreciate all your comments and for your
continued support of our channel. It's viewers like you who make
this a great channel.
very nice looking yard at the end!!
Thank you very much. Appreciate your stopping by and taking
the ride with us my friend.
Good day Dave you was always talking about the railroad being 16.8 miles I kept thinking boy it is short.
But watching the series and I was on the turnpike today going from Monroeville to Irwin which is about 11 12 miles and made me realize it's not that small
Keep up the great work on the railroad and the great videos thank you
Thank you very much Jim. Really pleased to hear
you enjoyed. We do appreciate your riding track along with
us my friend. You not far from us, less than an hour away. The
electrician that wired our house was from Irwin.
Well I just finished watching this mini series…Thanks Dave, not only have I learnt heaps about track maintenance and building, ( none of which I will ever use of course 😂) but I have visited a piece of the world I have never seen or been. Fantastic mate. 👍
Thank you so very much Bob for the very nice comment. So glad
to hear you had a good time and we do appreciate your riding
along with us my friend.
Another spectacular ride along from the chair of our home, Cant believe just about two weeks ago already I was riding along with you in that truck riding the rails, What a great fun day that was.
You didn't get to see the end of the track, so that was something
new for ya. It was a fantastic day, was editing some of the video I
made tonight, gonna be a great series. Arm chair ride was good,
but not as good a being in the truck...LOL
PS just came over from watching Jenny's latest vid.
@@ccrx6700 Sounds great, The ride alongs are more fun in person than the arm chair that's for sure but you still make it fun and interesting to watch.
Excellent ride. I had to get back on google earth to reference the coal unload into the barges. 16.5 miles of twists and turns. Thanks for the video on this. Now we have all seen the entire line.
Thank you David. So do appreciate your track traveling with me
tonight my friend. Someday I will do a video of the coal being
unloaded from the train and how it goes into the barges, but
that may not be until next year.
I love your stories. what a train layout. ;) can we see the cab controls. that must be beautiful in the fall when the colors change
Thank you John for the nice comment. Really appreciate
your watching today my friend. Here is a video of the loco
controls on our SD 40-2

Trains are a big part of our history and its a shame to see some of the tracks across America be tore up.
Thanks for the great tour of that line.
Your welcome Larry and very glad you enjoyed. Do appreciate
your track traveling with us my friend.
Dave, you do a really great job. Don’t change anything. 👍
Thank you for the very kind words Bow Line. We are very fortunate
this company allows me to make these videos. Really appreciate your
taking the time to visit with us and may you have a very good day
my friend.
Good looking ROW.
Thank you Bill. We try and keep things neat as best we can.
Appreciate your track traveling with us tonight my friend.
thanks for takung me along Dave
Your very welcome mrjoel59. Really pleased to hear
you enjoyed. We do appreciate your riding track along with
us my friend.
Thanks for another fantastic video Dave. I really enjoyed riding along. I despise joint that arent staggered too. We had a couple areas where the joints weren't staggered. Those areas were from when Santa Fe had a derailment and they.would push everything out of the way, grade the roadbed and put panel track in place. We always had issues with the track in the areas where the joints weren't staggered.
Got a vid coming sometime later this summer Zach where a CP track inspector is here riding with me, we stop at a parallel joint and he
don't like them either. That will be in part 3 of the track inspection
series. Really appreciate the very kind words my good friend.
Your track conditions look flawless! From the angle of the video can't tell that it isn't ribbon rail. Your MOW personal do excellent work!
Thank you David for the very nice comment. I try hard to keep
track conditions up to snuff. Really appreciate your riding along
with us today my friend.
These 4 videos are great. Love the commentary and the scenery. I was in Pa. visiting relatives as a kid, this makes me want to go back.
That's great to hear Ronnie, so glad you enjoyed them. So
thoughtful of you to write in with the kind words. Appreciate your riding track with us. May you have a most blessed day my friend.
@@ccrx6700 You too!
Looks like nice Terrain I like the trails on the side looks like some parts of western Canada
Really appreciate your riding along with me Scott. Pleased to
hear you enjoyed the show my friend.
Thank you for showing us your entire track it was very interesting. A time lapse of the entire track would be cool.
Your welcome Peer and very glad you enjoyed. Do appreciate
your track traveling with us my friend. I do have a time lapse
being in the loco for part of the track hauling ballast coming sometime
this summer or fall. Will work on a lapse in fall if leaves cooperate
this year.
