    Thanks for the video! I bought this gen and installed the hour meter. VERY simple. I also hooked the Sportsman up to my camper and it immediately shut off. I didn't disconnect the batteries but the refrigerator was turned on. I had it set for Combo where it can run off of propane or electric. Nothing else was turned on. After watching this video I will do more testing.

    Using extension cords while rolled up on a wheel increases amperage. It's literally a copper coil, just a weak version. Extend the cord so it's not coiled around itself and see if it handles the micro.

    • @Rvdaydream
      @Rvdaydream  3 роки тому

      Although the external plastic extension cord casing may distort, The actual copper wire does not change diameter... The length remains the same... As long as it is not kinked, the rolled up cord loss due to increased resistance is extremely negligible....

    I bought this same unit within the last month. Simple and easy to use and service. Great little unit. We also have the dual fuel Sportsman 2000/1400 and the Dual fuel Sportsman 4000/3500 unit also. These were all purchased at absolutely great deals on sale at Lowe's or Home Depot. We have a 2019 Rockwood Mini Lite 2509S. Love it but should have bought what you got. Maybe an upgrade soon though. Keep up the great videos. Thanks.

    Mike, need to ask a dumb question- why didn't you bring the generator closer to the rv door instead of running around?

  • @wb2ire
    @wb2ire 5 років тому

    Hi Mike: I plugged my 15' trailer into the Sportsman and it ran my converter and small Dometic refrigerator. I was very surprised. I thought the resistance of the element would be too much. I don't know how big the element is but the fridge is about 4 cubic ft. Thanks; Frank

    • @Rvdaydream
      @Rvdaydream  5 років тому

      My refrigerator doesn't have an electric heating element. It's just a two-way fridge. So it runs on the AC using the compressor or it runs on propane. If you have a three way fridge the heating element is actually powered by 12 volt so the drain on the AC side of things wouldn't be very much at all.

    • @wb2ire
      @wb2ire 5 років тому

      @@Rvdaydream Hi Mike. I neglected to mention the Dometic is original 1987 model so i assume the element is a fill resistant on the gene. Thanks Frank

    Sweet vid. I have a sportsman inbound. Trying to rig a 35-45 Amp RV style charger system (Iota/power max) to my boats electrical, to top off the batteries say 2-3 hours at remote camping spots after a long day of fishing... But Idk if it will handle the 45A, as it will loose about 7% due to elevation, 2440'.... But your dang close, would it hold 8.1A @ 110? Cuz that's about 899 watts of power. Looks like it cut off at 8.2+... What elevation where you at?

  • @tonysshadow

    Very interesting demo. A super long extension cord showing off efficiency of AC, Im now curious if the limitations might be from engine sensing rpm's. and not the invertor itself. It has an economy mode some Im guessing there is some kind of engine sensor.
    Is this generator an either/or situation....use AC OR DC charging...but not both? Might be interesting to see if you can weasel a few more amps from the DC side.

    Can a craftsman 1700 watts be used to generator enough power for the sun Joe pressure washer for commercial use?

  • @davidyummus6259
    @davidyummus6259 3 роки тому

    The generator tripped & died at 8 amps,... 120 volts x 8 amps = 960 watts so that is why the generator tripped the overload when you tried to run the microwave.

      I saw 8.2A so more like 984 Watts. this would be surge capacity. I would like to see some one creep up on the 800 watts (6.7A), I understand the Gen100I's will shut down with loads over 600-650 that last more than so many seconds.

  • @shopkart96

    Hi Mike: The last test when you turned on the TVs, and all the speakers. Was the Refrigerator also running? How do you think it would work with a heating element Refrigerator? Most likely the same as turning on the water heater. Two of my friends also purchased this gene. I also added the hour meter to mine. I am breaking it in with standard 10/30 and then will switch to Synthetic. One of my friends is breaking his in with Synthetic. Your thoughts on breaking in with Synthetic? Thanks for your great videos. Frank

    • @Rvdaydream

      Yes, I had the refrigerator running and then I added all those other things that I discussed such as the TVs and the stereo. As far as my break in with standard oil check my previous generator videos I talk about that on pretty much every generator video that I show.
