We (Manowar fans) are called "Immortals", welcome. Manowar is amazing, Eric's voice is considered in metal scene as a beacon, one of the best (4 octaves), he is famous for singing Nessun Dorma live in Italy or his 40+ second high pitch scream or being incredibly modest while in the same time is is instructor for hunting with crossbow and bow.
Joey (bass player) is famous for his insane solos. Manowar achieved so much, including singing their first album with their own blood. Or broke two Guinness book records for loudest band in the world (standing still) and for longest live show in history, playing for 5 hours and 1 min long... etc etc etc.
Manowar is called Kings of Metal for a reason. And of course they made the best (no joke) song that has ever been written, Achilles Agony and Ecstacy in Eight Parts (28 mins long epic masterpiece)
Hi. Was this video from Wacken Open Air? I saw them there years ago. It was epic! I as an American had never been exposed to much non American metal, and I really enjoyed them. Stratovarious was another band from Wacken I really enjoyed too.
They actually broke their own "longest live performance" record with a NINE HOURS long performance !

That man truly has an ageless, timeless voice. He’s criminally underappreciated.
His voice is just amazing and strong, even live he sounds superb, which is kinda rare.

The bass guitarist, Joey DeMaio, is the unsung hero of this band. Way back in 1980, he had been playing for Black Sabbath for a while, when he asked his friend Eric Adams, who was a guitarist, to do some singing. And then some more. He pushed Eric to his vocal breaking point and beyond. He knew Eric Adams had this voice within him. It Only took some harsh, friendly encouragement, and a legend was born. As was the legendary band Manowar. Eric Adams is the greatest metal singer of all time. And we have Joey DeMaio to thank for that. The guy on Eric's right, humbly playing the bass guitar for him for 40+ years.
Great to see all the flags - metal is truly an international movement. Even in my home city, small though it is, you see an amazing variety of people at gigs - 17 to 70 and from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds, Great reaction Aileen.

You ought to check out Ne Obliviscaris - And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope (Live in Colorado 2016). Six of the most incredible musicians you'll ever lay eyes on. Clean singing, harsh vocals, a violin, insane drummer, bassist, two guitar players. Magic made into sound.
Loudest band ever. They don't even need to be that loud but it's what they do. My feet were vibrating and itching in my boots last time I saw them. Ministry came close but Manowar is something special. Love see people discovering how great they are.

Great reaction! It is really an honour to be in one of crowds featured in the video. I really loved to sing along to this song among all those 30K people. It was 12 years ago, still one of the best performances I've ever seen. Before I finish I want to suggest you a band which are amazing musicians, songwriters and performers. A Mexican three sisters rock band called The Warning. You will really be amazed by them. As a starting point I'd suggest Disciple official video. Honestly any live performance or a music video from their official UA-cam channel works. Because they are that good, trust me :)
2 bands that you might be interested in to react to: Heilung (try Krigsgaldr live at LIFA first, followed by In Maidjan) or Type O Negative (Black nr 1 or Love You to Death). Both bands are very unique and have an amazing following :).
Manowar has a 28 minute song about the balltle of Achilles called "Achilles, Abony and Estacy in 8 parts". Unfortunatly they don't have a video moving for it, they do have some live footage but it doesn't play the whole song. It's very cool that you got all of that philosophical insight out of listening and watching this because you're right. Manowar was the band that got me into heavy metal as a teenager and through them, before I'd even branched out to other bands, I had learned those same things. The brotherhood of fans being a family, it being more than a genre, it helping in down times. Songs like Defender, Carry On, Swords in the Wind... Manowar embodies the spirit of Heavy Metal perhaps more than any other band in this regard, I believe.

@ Aileensenpai: The albums "Hail To England", "Sign Of The Hammer" and "Kings Of Metal" are considered their best records. The songs "Blood Of My Enemies", "Bridge Of Death", "Thor", "Mountains", "Guyana", "Heart Of Steel" and "The Crown And The Ring" may serve as examples. But if you want to hear MANOWAR in action together with the unforgotten great actor Orson Welles, then you should react to "Defender". Other amazing tracks are "Gods Of War", "Master Of The Wind", "Swords In The Wind", "Secret Of Steel" and "Gates Of Valhalla", if you ask me.

Hearing you speaking of the "metal community" reminded me of an anecdote at one of the only MANOWAR live performances I attended ...
There was a mosh pit, because of course there was, how could anyone at that kind of performance NOT physically need to bounce around, and a young woman had an unfortunate "wardrobe malfunction" from all the jumping around.
Right then, the Family Spirit kicked in.
There was a shout of "Naked girl !" barely audible over the Loudest Band In The World, but instead of cameras flashing and people ogling the woman gathering her clothes, a bunch of burly men in black leather (myself included) formed a protective ring around her, right in the middle on the mosh pit, with our backs to her, we locked arms and made a wall until she assured us that she had recovered everything and was decent again.
NO ONE, absolutely NO ONE even TRIED to push against our protective wall, even the people losing their minds and bodies in the mosh pit instinctively felt the need to keep away, all the while that wall of sound kept going on ... we DID move a bit, but only because MANOWAR is SO loud that guys like me massing in at roughly 120 kilograms are just pushed back by the waves of sound.
THAT is the real power of the "Metal Family" : we love that genre, we love each other, we don't even think when we see/feel an incident happen, we just react as brothers and sisters.
You should hear him sing Nessun Dorma, freakin' incredible range.

Manowar is cheesy, but so powerful at the same time. Hearing them live was almost always a pleasure, with every music note hitting jour body full on, great band
Believe it or not, I have been a Manowar fan since my high school days. I am 50 now. These guys are part of the founding generation of true metal music and you can see why!! There are several bands that fit into this era that are still plenty relevant today, like Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Savatage....although the last one is now Transiberian Orchestra!

Fantastic video! Manowar is a band for those who know! I’d like to suggest, if I may, Stryper “soldiers under command” from the monsters of rock 2013 cruise concert. That video has an a cappella opener and really shows the vocalists talents. KILLER band and Michael sweet has some of the greatest vocals out there. The twin guitar playing with Oz Fox is second to none as well

They aren't super well known, but they are amazing. They got a very dedicated fanbase too. Been listening to them since i was 10 or something, never considered myself a hardcore fan or anything, but i thoroughly enjoy their music continously through life. Their music is great for working out too!

I like the original song. But the cover of Feuerschwanz is a great cover. The collaboration of so many good lead vocalists Melissa Bonny (Ad Infintum), Alea (Saltatio Mortis), Thomas Winkler and Feuerschwanz makes it special.💥

in the early 2000s i was on the MANOWAR fan forums and had listed in my profile that i am a singer. One day i got an email from a guy asking me if i would listen to his bands demo tape and send my feedback, I said sure, That random guy was Herman Li the band was Dragonforce the song was Valley of the Damned.
Manowar is metal his voice is crazy from his extreme highs to his lows incredible musicians in this band

Wow I never knew Manowar was this big. Introduced to Manowar in 6th grade and was constantly on my playlist (burned cd mix) all the way through highschool. So many upbeat adrenaline rush, get you up and moving songs.
These guys are from from hometown in upstate ny there's even a street named after them. I used to live in an apartment that was right next to a house they used to practice in. You always see the dudes walking around town going to this awesome little diner in town there really good dudes.

You should know that...Man0war holds the record for the loudest DB ( Decibel Units ) in sound measurements. Although this wasn't done live....it was checked my sound meters while they were recording. And these guys were formed way before Metallica and played Thrash sounds before Metallica.. Infact Trash music was played by IRON MAIDEN and MOTORHEAD way before Metallica was formed. Anyways....Man0war is one of the greatest metal bands from 80s. That's what I love about classic heavy metal bands cuz they always bring something to the table with their variations and music compositions. Not like the metal bands we have today. The bands in this era don't know what the hell they are doing. It's just loud. It's more like a big budget movie.. with a story that goes nowhere. Well it's just my opinion. You should check out Nanowar of Steel. They started out as just Nanowar, an Italian comedic power metal band who basically just ripped on Manowar. (They take themselves a little too seriously sometimes.) You'll hear the similarities in their song The Affordable Ironmonger. Other Nanowar songs that are just super entertaining:

I love the video because it perfectly shows the community of Manowar fans. It's not the best song to appreciate Eric Adams voice. Metallica is one of the greatest metal bands and I love James voice. Eric is on a whole other level though. You should check out how he sings Nessun Dorma.
