If you pull up on the cap before you unscrew it it will pull the spout up.

I know this is old but how do you like the PSC 1000? I need some solvent for my 20 gallon HF parts washer I picked up cheap!

Yes, I would buy it again if I were resetting my tank with fresh. It does evaporate. I'm sure I've added a couple gallons of water (to bring the bottom up further) and odorless paint thinner from the lumber yard to keep it at the pickup level. You can see, it's lasted years. Still cleans great. People say the odorless paint thinner form of Stoddard solvent does not clean as well but it's been fine with the start I got. My solution is brown now but still quite translucent.

Time . 7:16 see what you did . Why not 2 flowing streams 1 from the brush the other from metal hose. I just bought and cleaned my 2nt solvent tank. This has a 25 gallon barrel. At the pump there is a 90 shoots to the top then solvent flows out and you start cleaning . I want 2 or 3 flowing if I put Plastic T with pipe running to the top wouldn’t that work. Have 3 flowing heads is solvent. One and two the bolts then another out of the brush for cleaner and then the hard stream. Please let me know what you think

I know it's 4 years late but why not bricks in the bottom of your barrel, I would think they would be best. They don't leak, don't have worry about causing rust, or just extend the pickup so you don't have to worry about it.

Not sure how much is in that video, but the barrel had a leak and needed a liner which was a tricky thing to find. The water isn't touching anything but the liner bag. So, it can't cause any rust and it does not mix with solvent. As it turns out, the water/solvent layer works like a dirt trap. When I run the thing, no water never gets mixed with solvent. It's at the bottom. Over time as the crap settles out, it falls down into the water layer at the bottom and never comes back. If it was all solvent, it would mix and stir up (presumably) all the particulates in the bottom. The water layer has kept the solvent relatively clean. It's not water clear anymore but it's decent. I remember my fathers shop where the fluid would get dark very quickly and really needed to be changed once a month or so. Over time, I have to keep adding water which I am 99% certain is because the solvent is evaporating. So at some point, the water will get up to the pickup then I'll have to add solvent or simply change it out. I saved the 5 gallon cans so I'd have something to put it in.

Additionally, The last time it stared sucking air, I added 2 gallons of odorless mineral spirits which is also stoddard solvent with some volatile's removed. I was worried I might be running out of solvent and thought I would experiment in this way. Some online sites say it does not clean as well as straight stoddard but because it has a similar flash point (or it should anyway) I tried it. The solvent seems to be equally effective to me but this is not scientific. But, I really enjoy having a REAL solvent based parts cleaning station to work with. They pop up in local Craigslist/Facebook in the 75-150 range. I use it as often as any othen, sometimes more than my lathe.

I was worried about them compromising the plastic liner bag. The first time I set it up (before this shop video at another home) I used bricks. Then this time It leaked, and I found sealant in the bottom I did not know was there before. Now that I am using the liner, I expect no further issues unless it goes bad. I have a second one. As I remember it was 2 for x price from NAPA?? I probably say in the video but don't remember at this moment.

@@CraftedChannel Is the Water in the bottom of Barrel still working for you or would not recommend it for a parts washer ?
