Here is why I disagree that the rule should be changed. We've gone decades without the "loophole" of rushing to snap the ball to avoid a review being closed. This shouldn't be removed. Ohio State didn't lose because of this loophole. They lost because they decided to start passing on the 28 yard line when they only needed a field goal to win.
I think the rule should NOT be changed. The down and distance + time left are all a factor of the game. Coaching on both sides is being limited by a rule change. People make the distinction that why not put 15 or more players out there? That would tip your hand to the offense, and they could just spike the ball. What ever time is lost is a part of the game. Those may say why not do it over and over? You wouldn't because it would cost you 5 yards at a minimum each time, plus it becomes unsportsmanlike, and there is a 15 yarder for that. Something you would never want to risk. People also say why not do it everytime on the goal line because it only becomes half the distance? The offense would like that...they would get another untimed down every time until they got in.

I'm not really on-board with this new "tactic" of the 12-man thing. To me it seems un-ethical. The Ducks needed to stop OSU from moving the ball from their 25 to the Duck 25 in 1:47 by playing great Defense. That said, there's the analogy of the 12-man tactic being equivalent to the intentional foul in Basketball. Uh, maybe. It's also exactly like a defender who is getting beat and rather than let the runner with the ball make a touchdown, (as he surely would have) he (OSU defender) willingly commits to taking a penalty. Happens in every game. Isn't that cheating to gain an advantage? By your logic why not let the TD happen (as it would have) and then answer with your offense? Hey Spence, wanna pick your brain here..... Purdue has a history of being a trap game after big games.... Do you think Lanning has this team laser focused like he himself is? I just dont see coach letting his team lag at all.... he has aspirations of being the greatest in the nation, and i think he fully believes his squad he has assembled can do it!

Play calling in the red zone is the issue/. Why we don't use TE over the middle more often is beyond me. We can't run up the middle and we never trying to jump over the top either

To be fair, Dillion missed Tez wide open on like the 2 or 3 yard line. Wouldn’t call it that big of an issue.

I'm not really on-board with this new "tactic" of the 12-man thing. To me it seems un-ethical. The Ducks needed to stop OSU from moving the ball from their 25 to the Duck 25 in 1:47 by playing great Defense. That said, there's the analogy of the 12-man tactic being equivalent to the intentional foul in Basketball. Uh, maybe. Oregon was ahead, in BB the tactic is used by the team losing trying to get more opportunities to score. That said, I've very happy Oregon won . There will be a re-match, that seems very likely at this point, should OSU beat Penn St. I'm figuring OSU will CRUSH Penn St when they play. The the two teams will get another crack at each other and that should be e;pic.
And I'm not ok with the big 10 officials giving Ohio a touchdown off of an interception.

@@ninefingerjack if any rule needs to be changed it’s the rule to where you can’t review a play after you snap the ball. So if they change the one, they better change both
@@tucanoguy4719Totally agree! To me, quick snapping the ball so the previous play can’t be reviewed is acknowledging that a wrong call was probably made. This happens much more frequently than taking a penalty to burn clock.
It's also exactly like a defender who is getting beat and rather than let the runner with the ball make a touchdown, (as he surely would have) he (OSU defender) willingly commits to taking a penalty. Happens in every game. Isn't that cheating to gain an advantage? By your logic why not let the TD happen (as it would have) and then answer with your offense? Or where is the ethics of your offensive coach calling a hurry up play instead of letting a review of the Jeff Bassa interception happen, at the beginning of the first quarter, so that his team (OSU) got the advantage and made a TD? Can't have a Double Standard that favors one team over another, now can we?

It doesn't mean OSU was going to win, a whole host of things could have happened. It looked like Howard was about to get hit when the whistle blew for the timeout by Oregon. Time to think about Purdue.

If any other big named coach made the twelve man penalty decision, it’d be ok. Oregon makes the call and it’s “Shame on you, you cheated.” People have been disrespecting Oregon for years, it’s nothing new. FEBU !!!! The past two years Lanning was ripped for aggressive play calling when it didn’t work. This year, it’s working and still, Lanning gets ripped. Again I say, FEBU !!!!
