I have full trust in Dan Lanning. He’s such a brilliant coach and the culture he’s built at Oregon is amazing. In the “Ducks vs Them” video you can see how he’s constantly reiterating “playing for the guy next to you, playing for your brothers” like this team is SUPER tight. That’s SPECIAL. They really live by FEBU. I trust Lanning to have these guys prepared for every single game, no matter who they’re playing or where they’re playing. I am so proud of them achieving the #1 ranking, it is well deserved! As fans we can celebrate and be happy and excited, but I know Lanning isn’t letting it distract them or get to their head. They’re going to go play just as hard. GO DUCKS

You’re point about the media and the special teams narrative is spot on! Joel Klatt, whom I love, could not stop stating in his analysis pre OSU game that needing those special teams points was somehow a concerning weakness… a sign of inefficiency… I was so confused by that, like where and when did we start claiming being able to score on special teams was a weakness?!?!?!?!

I think the ex factor is DG at QB. He just makes plays. A bit of a gun slinger who will make mistakes but when it counts he rises to the occasion in the biggest moments. I’d take him over Howard, Beck, and Ewers from what I’ve seen. He tends to connect on the deep ball better than Nix too, beautiful deep ball.

Welcome to the Big 10, we're glad to have Oregon in the conference. I imagine it's still a bit challenging for Oregon fans to evaluate the competition because of lack of familiarity. It doesn't help that the Big 10 pecking order this year is deviating big time from historical expectations. Who do Oregon fans think are their top competition for winning the Big 10 this year?

Ohio State, pretty obviously. Hoping Rourke is back soon for the Hoosiers.

    • @matthewmcclure3181
      @matthewmcclure3181 8 годин тому

@@cacogenicist I think Indiana will be OK without Rourke for a few games. Tayven Jackson is a former 4* recruit (15th QB in 2022 class) and a transfer from Tennessee two seasons ago. Jackson doesn't need to match Rourke's 300+ passing yards/pg for IU to win. Through 7 games IU's four-headed RB monster is rushing for 200+ yards/pg (i.e. this is not a one-dimensional offense). Since IU rushing and receiving stats are spread out across 9 RBs/WRs, the depth/talent flies under the radar. There is no heavy reliance on any skill position player, nor is there a specific player to game plan against. This is also the best O-Line in IU history, which matters a lot with a backup QB.
Granted every season is it's own chapter, but IU has historically put up more of a fight in Columbus than one would expect. IU will not be intimidated on the road at OSU. I realize the only IU opponent Oregon fans are concerned with is OSU (since we don't play Penn St), but our only current concern is a mystery box Washington team. What do IU fans know about Washington? Only one thing, they broke our hearts by taking Penix from us after our 2021 bowl game.
I don't think Penn St is better than Indiana, so if IU manages to beat OSU, that would leave only Oregon as a seriously daunting obstacle to a Big 10 title. BTW, Big 10 title is really the prize for IU, getting into the playoff and managing to make some noise would be gravy. None of our success is translating to recruiting wins, so expect a similar IU portal blitz for productive experienced players next year.
      * IU was a leading candidate for USC de-commit 5* QB Julian Lewis before the season started, so that doesn't count.

Purdue got better they had 2 really good players come back and we’re still short 1 guy when we played them . Not the same team when Wisconsin played them.
With Stein we could potentially lose 3 games . Playing Michigan and Wisconsin and having to travel another 2000 and 2200 miles respectively is always a draining situation.
Ducks were sluggish against Purdue. Part because it is natural field not Astro turf . And mainly again Stein sucks at play calling . I’ve was at that game as I now live in Indiana and have been following the Ducks for over 30 years .

Absolutely no way. They've had a somewhat cream puff rodeo so far and only beaten one team that is of any substance, AT HOME, Ohio State. OSU played a lackluster game and everyone knows it. The Ducks are good, but not number one good. I'd put Texas, OSU, Georgia, and Alabama ahead of the Ducks. Let them play at one of those teams and see what their record shows. And oh, I'm a Duck fan since the Kelly/Mariotta era.

What team with a pulse has Texas played? You are delusional. Georgia and OSU absolutely could beat Oregon, but it's not like either of them have done anything to prove that.

"OSU played a lackluster game and everyone knows it."
      What a completely delusional comment.
I'm betting that you are new to college football and you are simply parroting what someone else said because you think it sounds knowledgeable.
It is really sad how uninformed you are.
Maybe after you have watched a few seasons of football you might understand how Oregon outplayed tOSU, but for now, your completely novice and inexperienced analysis is embarrassing for you.
Just look at this pitiful addendum. The depths of cluelessness is unfathomable -
      "and everyone knows it."
It is a sad, pitiful appeal to authority that simply doesn't agree with a rookie viewer like you.
      Take your sad analysis elsewhere.

Michigan doesn’t have a QB that can really threaten the Ducks defense if we do what we been doing an shut down the run game we should be fine the rest of the season unless something wild happens Oregon should be undefeated

Oregon historically when the hype starts, they trip up. They have broken my heart a few times. But this is a different coach and a very different program. I have faith Lanning will keep the ship on course and hungry. But there are mines my friends. Let's hope we can navigate them.

@@3rdandlong We don't play Penn State. I have been watching Georgia all year. I am not that scared of them, I am scared of a team with a stronger offense. Georgia defense is similar to ours in talent. Their offense is not even close. I want to play Georgia to be honest. Now Ohio State again and Wisconsin away. Yeah those are a heart attack.
