I always used to just push the piston back, watching out for overflow from reservoir of course, until a work colleague had done the job on his wife's car, and ended up with no brakes! He had had the bad luck of 'flipping' the seal in the master cylinder, apparently you also run the risk of wrecking the ABS modulator too. No such thing as a easy job! Great video.

Don’t forget to pump that brake pedal gently before setting off to butt pads up to the brake disc as you might have a shock when you’ve got no brakes!
