I'm going to be completely honest after finding this M.A.P again after so many years. This was the video that started my passion for animation to this day and what opened me up to the animation community on UA-cam. I remember very vividly being shown this once during lunch in 6th grade by one of my friends, and I was obsessed with it. At the time, I didn't realize that it was many different people working together to make this, but now I can appreciate every part's animation and style as most as possible. I am truly indebted to this video and to all the animators who made this m.a.p possible. Even though I'm sure no one will read this, I am still going to put this out there. This is just something random but I saw comments that are saying, "I'm confused, what's going on" so I decided to write this. There are spoilers for those who haven't read Warriors. You should read the books. They're amazing. But anyways.... Also I copied and pasted some replies to this comment cuz I feel they wouldn't be seen unless you go through the replies. All credits to those people. Also it may be helpful so... yeah Basically this video follows Hollyleaf. She's the sibling of Lionblaze and Jayfeather. Hollyleaf grows up with Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw as her parents. Lionblaze and Jayfeather have powers while Hollyleaf doesn't. But that doesn't matter. Basically when Hollyleaf and her siblings are trapped in a ring of fire Squirrelflight reveals to Ashfur that Hollyleaf, Jayfeather, and Lionblaze are not her children. She doesn't say who their real parents are. Ashfur decides that he will tell everyone which upsets Hollyleaf. One night she sneaks out and kills Ashfur by slashing his throat. He bleeds out as she walks off knowing there's nothing to worry about. I'm not exactly sure how she got in a cave but she does. While she's stuck in the cave her clan comes up with the idea that's she's dead. That's why she's called the forgotten warrior. I don't know how long she's in the cave but she's in there for moons (months). The whole video takes place in the cave. Video: 0:02 - video opens with the outside view of a cave. This is the cave that Hollyleaf is stuck in for moons and moons. 0:16 - you see half of Hollyleaf's face as a circle goes up and down. You'll notice the circle is a full moon. Full moons happen once a month. This circle stays a full moon as it rises over and over meaning she's been in that cave for months. Many full moons. 0:24 - she says, "the clock stopped ticking forever ago" which could mean she's lost track of time or she's given up on telling what day it is. This could hint at the fact she's been in that cave for months. There's another lyric: 0:30 I can't get a grip, yet I can't let go. There wasn't anything to hold onto, though This could mean that hollyleaf felt that there wasn't anything for her to live on for in thunderclan, since even her birth broke both the mecidine cat code and the warrior code-'There wasn't anything to hold onto, though' But although she felt like an outsider in the clans, she couldn't stop looking out for her clan and her clanmates. 'yet I can't let go' 0:34 - you see a cat attack another cats throat. I'm pretty sure this represents Hollyleaf killing Ashfur. Her killing him is the whole reason she's feeling these emotions. 0:38 - she says, "why can't I see? Why can't I see? The colors that you see". By this she means that when she killed Ashfur all the color in the world disappeared. Nothing is no longer bright and sunny. Everything is the same two colors, black and white. Hence why the video takes place in a black and white world. It shows us how Hollyleaf sees things and herself. You'll also notice that she claws out her eyes. I think this shows that her world is like living blind. Everything's black. Sightless. Or it could be a hint at the darkness of the cave. That she can't see. 0:45 - it shows Hollyleaf curled up sleeping peacefully then it shows a holly. This might represent when everything was easy and she was just Hollykit, or Hollypaw. When she asks, "Please can I be colorful and free" it shows her running then a scene of falling rocks. She's probably running from her demons and the rocks falling represent the rocks that are trapping her in the cave. The cave could also represent her mind and that there's something blocking her way out. 0:49 - you see a target like symbol as Hollyleaf shows up in different directions asking questions. The target might show a hypnotizing like thing. How she's gone in a trance like state of fear and worry. Something she can't escape or others can't pull her out of. 0:57 - By I'm black then white I took that as a way of saying, "back then I was white. Pure. Now I'm black. Polluted. One minute I feel pure then the next I feel filfthy, guilty". 1:00 - she says, "something isn't right". That means she knows something's wrong with her. When she says, "my enemy's invisble, I don't know how to fight" I think that means something is after her but she doesn't know what. She can't fight something she doesn't know or isn't there. She can't fight herself. 1:15 - you see her crying as she touches a Thunderclan symbol. She's probably crying because she misses her clan and wants to go back but she can't since she's stuck in a cave or her own mind. 1:22 - you see Hollyleaf go from a confused cat to a murder with blood on her paws. This might show her 'transformation' from innocence to something crazy looking. After that you see her with a shocked expression. It's like she can't believe what/who she's become. Then she's running and an image of the cave entrance appears. She probably runs into the cave. 1:27 - pause and you see fire with a forest in the background. This is when Squirrelflight reveals the awful truth to Ashfur. If you pause at a certain moment you'll see a cat crying. Maybe Hollyleaf is crying because of the truth. But in the book she gets mad so I don't know. 1:33 - you see Hollyleaf getting arrows shot into her back. These arrows could represent guilt or how broken down she is. Her shadow slowly turns into a beast that she looks up at. After the shadow thing you see Hollyleaf kinda disperse until there's nothing left of her. This could mean the beast has taken over her to the point there's nothing left or the old Hollyleaf that everyone knows is now gone. 1:42 - paw prints walk away from a cat with its throat cut. That's Hollyleaf walking away from the now dead Ashfur. After that you see Ashfur standing behind Hollyleaf. She looks down at a holly berry. You see holly during Christmas a lot which is a time of joy. So maybe it's to show joy. I don't know. Or it's just there to be there. I mean her name is HOLLYleaf 1:54 - you see her go from sitting there to looking behind her in guilt or fear to hiding under paws, covering her ears, to her back fully turned to us. Or the thing that she's afraid of or the truth. Either one. I don't know. 1:58 - shows her all cracked. I took this as when a plate gets shattered and you try to fix it, it will never be perfect again. Just like Hollyleaf will always have to live with what she's done and she'll never be 'perfect' again. Credit to Lily Rose: This was really helpful, but I also wanted to add something, at 2:06 there is a falling leaf which I think signifies Fallen Leaves the cat who accompanies her in the cave. Her smiling then not right after the leaf scene may show how she felt towards him as during the novella, Hollyleaf’s Story, part way through the book their relationship goes sour before them reconciling and her leaving to go back to ThunderClan. 2:10 - you see two cats with their tails entwined. This could be Leafpool and Crowfeather. Next you see three kits. I think that's Hollyleaf, Jayfeather, and Lionblaze. This could just show her looking back at her kittenhood. 2:14 - she says, "I'm gonna burn my house down" I don't know what she means by this. She could be burning away evidence of all the things she has done. Who knows. Then she says, "I'm gonna run away now. And never look back". She's running away from her problems instead of facing them. 2:19 - three cats stand in a circle of fire. This is when Squirrelflight reveals the truth. You see two cats standing by each other. This could be Squirrelflight telling Ashfur. 3:00 - she stands in a circle of cats. This is most likely her clan. She looks around for help but all them kinda have a sick/disgusted look on their faces. She runs to the leader with a happy look. But he turns into a stone. I'm pretty sure she's imagining all of this. Kinda going crazy. 3:20 - she looks into a puddle and a cat smiles at her with a creepy look. This could be how she sees herself. At the end you see her crying as it all drops into water. She might have cried herself a puddle of tears or something. That was how I took the video. I could be wrong but yeah.
She ended in the cave because she told the gathering who her parents were then ran off and ran into a tunnel and a landslide blocked the entrance right after she went in so everyone thought if crushed her
Came back after 7 years to watch my favourite MAP when I was a kid. I was 10 when i watched this on my dads old computer. 17 now, and I just felt chills, rewatching this warmed my heart. Thank you for being such a major part of my childhood💕

This is literally my favorite Warriors MAP I’ve ever seen. Absolutely amazing, all the artwork is fantastic, and just overall beautiful. This really inspired me to keep going with my own artwork.
This kept on popping up for me about 1 week before I actually watched this I avoided it because it looked like a map that I would get addicted to..... I'm addicted. I have watched this about 10 times......

Hoolyleaf is one of my favorite cats in the books She was misunderstood I haven’t read the books in a while sadly DANM IT SCHOOL U GOT IN THE WAY OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS
I love her character, but in her personality there are some major holes. It fazed her that she was half WindClan, but it somehow doesn't bother her at all that she's the granddaughter of a kittypet? (Not that either of those things really matter.)
Well the exact working of the warrior code is "A warrior rejects the soft life of a kitty pet" so because Firestar rejected it i don't think she considered it. The cross clan relationships rule is literally the first rule and extremely fundamentally important to every rule abiding cat. The issue with kittypet blood is not so much a clan law issue (What she was all caught up on) as it is a cultural issue.
I see. That makes more sense. But, regardless, having Firestar as a grandfather should still tell her that it doesn't matter where you come from, because you can still make something greater of yourself and make all the other haters eat their words. Really wish she would've thought of this before she snapped...

This is so abstract and well timed to the song so it's like you can barely understand it but also completely know what's happening also every scene is animated so its unique not one scene that I can find is reused AKA: its beautiful
dang this is awesome!! i love how creative people were with the abstract black and white concept, and the animation was really good! this is really cool to see since abstract warriors maps are pretty rare, so hopefully more people will do them in the future :D

This. Is. Awesome!! Honestly though I do think that Hollyleaf often felt like two different cats. Like sometimes she would consider forgiving Leafpool but then the next time she would be so filled with anger that she could hardly think of anything else but Leafpool and Squirrelflight's deception. In a sense she was two totally different cats during that period in her life. I also think that meeting Fallenleaves helped her to find who she was again. She would never be the Hollyleaf she was but at least after the time in the tunnels she could turn that page and move on to become the mature cat she was when she died. I'm also gonna apologize to anyone who reads this and doesn't know about what happens to Hollyleaf. Didn't mean to give the surprise away.
The abstract art in this is amazing, it has such a dark feeling that really makes you understand what holly leaf went through Good job everyone, this was incredible!
This is a super old comment, but honestly it’s a good question, I was thinking about making a silhouette animation recently and I feel like it may even be harder in some aspects considering you only have two colours are your disposal, I feel like it would have to make you consider what you can draw and really limit yourself with details

This is literally my favorite Warriors MAP I’ve ever seen. Absolutely amazing, all the artwork is fantastic, and just overall beautiful. This really inspired me to keep going with my own artwork.

I love her character, but in her personality there are some major holes. It fazed her that she was half WindClan, but it somehow doesn't bother her at all that she's the granddaughter of a kittypet? (Not that either of those things really matter.)
Well the exact working of the warrior code is "A warrior rejects the soft life of a kitty pet" so because Firestar rejected it i don't think she considered it. The cross clan relationships rule is literally the first rule and extremely fundamentally important to every rule abiding cat. The issue with kittypet blood is not so much a clan law issue (What she was all caught up on) as it is a cultural issue.
I see. That makes more sense. But, regardless, having Firestar as a grandfather should still tell her that it doesn't matter where you come from, because you can still make something greater of yourself and make all the other haters eat their words.
Really wish she would've thought of this before she snapped...

This. Is. Awesome!! Honestly though I do think that Hollyleaf often felt like two different cats. Like sometimes she would consider forgiving Leafpool but then the next time she would be so filled with anger that she could hardly think of anything else but Leafpool and Squirrelflight's deception. In a sense she was two totally different cats during that period in her life. I also think that meeting Fallenleaves helped her to find who she was again. She would never be the Hollyleaf she was but at least after the time in the tunnels she could turn that page and move on to become the mature cat she was when she died.
I'm also gonna apologize to anyone who reads this and doesn't know about what happens to Hollyleaf. Didn't mean to give the surprise away.

This is a super old comment, but honestly it’s a good question, I was thinking about making a silhouette animation recently and I feel like it may even be harder in some aspects considering you only have two colours are your disposal, I feel like it would have to make you consider what you can draw and really limit yourself with details
