IT'S DONE! Unravel has been completed and honestly I'm so happy with it.
There's something really gripping about characters who make all the wrong choices but show their true colours in the end. The goal of this MAP wasn't to show Needletail as anything but a flawed individual that redeems herself thanks to the good in those around her, she makes bad choices, pays for them, and learns in the end. We can all be led astray sometimes and I think, because of that, hers is a really empowering story.
This was the first MAP where we had a discord to go along side it and the process on this MAP has been such a joy. I couldn't have chosen a nicer group of people to get to work with on this project. Not only that but everyone brought their A game and I'm so greatful.
My sincerest thanks to all of the participants, I hope you're happy with the result of your work.

the thing that gets me the most is how young she was in all of this. she was a rebellious kid and the only reliable adults in shadowclan weren't persuasive enough to guide her back to the right path. she was an apprentice who got herself mixed up with bad company, couldn't get out, and only found solace in the kit she found who she ended up dying for. i absolutely loved her character; she could have been a great cat if someone had taken her away from darktail before it was too late. wonderful job on the MAP; the emotion you guys captured in this is amazing.

What I really love about this map is the parts leading towards Needletail’s death. She had a concerned look on her face but when she saw Violetpaw’s it hardened as if “I’ll be strong for her” and when Violetpaw was like “I’m breakable” “I’m shakeable” Needletail became “unbreakable” and “unshakeable” For her. At least that’s how I interpret it. I thought it was really cool
I've never read a Warriors book in my life and my knowledge on the series is limited to the basic idea that the series revolves around cats that fight.
Saying that, I found it exceptionally fun to piece together Needletail's story just based off this video, and, I think because of all the wonderful subtleties and details of each part, I can more or less put together her story. A story that's both left a heavy weight on my chest as well as fascinated me to no end.
Wonderful animation. Thanks to everyone who contributed and thanks to the people who organized this, truly a treat :).

I’d highly recommend the series, especially Vision of Shadows (Latest arc that has Needletail in it). It’s not just fighting cats. Romance drama, normal drama, cats going crazy after others die, and literal hell. It’s pretty good.
Come to think of it, it really is easily possible to figure out Needletail’s arc from this MAP

every time i watch this, i keep remembering this quote from the book Last of her Name by Jessica Khoury. the quote says, "we become the monsters, so the ones we love don't have to." i feel like it could have been Needletail saying this, or just the song overall. Needletail made some bad choices, but a lot of it she does for Violetpaw's sake; she joins Darktail and the Kin at first, but stays there and convinces Violetpaw to stay there until she is able to escape at the end, at the cost of Needletail's life.

Just some skinwalker with internet access I know- I watched the entire anime from the beginning to the RE
I don't wish to be rude to the other animators but I absolutely loved Chiibe's part. Used enough smudge to give it a quicker and realistic look as if they're really trained fighting cats.

And also I loved the way Needletail turned her head, Chiibe used like only one or two frames to show the actual turn to give it the illusion of it flicking really fast to fit the sound of the music. I can’t stop replaying that one shot
But theres other parts that are good too and actually i dont like a part, i like the combination of all them and how this map turned out, because, being serious, this map wouldnt be the same if other people do this uwu

Also have you guys noticed that the outer line edges of the characters are red but inside they're black? Such a nice detail.
In the last shot though you can see that those red edges aren't there anymore but since it's a time crunch to do in two weeks I completely understand that it had to be done before then. It's barely noticeable anyways since it's so fast unless you pay so much attention and replay it over and over to see like the one frame in Jurassic Park where the velociraptor is missing in the T-Rex's mouth lol.

Tbh this map really makes me want to catch up on the latest Warrior Cat books because even while I barely, barely, BARELY know the story of any of these characters, the emotions and story shown here in literally every scene are so, so compelling and I really just want to know more about everyone involved :Oc

I recently visited Thailand and found Warrior books for cheap, so I bought 3, 2 of which are old. I also bought Tiger heart's Shadow and it's so freakin complex. I have no clue on who *anybody* is.

You know, a lot of people hate on the newest arc, because they think it's just lacking in something or it's predictable or it has no reason to continue, but the first three books at least have really good writing, especially the parts with Darktail and ShadowClan. I feel like it's vastly underrated, even when parts of it are still just as amazing as the earlier arcs. By the way, this MAP was incredible.
honestly I was the most invested in the first 3 books then any other time that I can remember. I seriously enjoyed them oop
I absolutely love the AVOS arc, I hope the Broken Code arc can be as good as this arc.
My favorite books Was Shattered Sky and River of Fire
The Apprentices quest was such a great book. I was like oh boy this is gonna be good when I first started reading it. it felt so new and fresh. it gave me similar feelings to into the wild and the sun trail.

So.. I showed this to my friend, who knows nothing about Warriors. This is the story she pieced together.
“The spiky cat (Needletail) and the red-stripey cat (Alderheart) are, like, cat-married, I think. I guess they have two kittens - the one that looks like it has goggles (Violetshine) and the dark purpley-gray one (Twigbranch). But then they get into a fight and break up or somethin, so Spiky Cat takes Goggle Kitten and joins a cat gang, which consists of the poofy cat (Sleekwhisker), the green cat (Rain), and the siamese cat (Darktail). Spiky’s new gang attacks Stripey and Purpley-Gray, probably because she's mad at them, and Spiky Cat fights Stripey Red Cat (she thought Rowanstar was Alderheart oof), and Goggle Cat fights Purpley-Gray Cat. Spiky Cat gets kinda corrupt and stuffs because Siamese Cat is evil or something, maybe. He looks evil. I dunno. But stuff happens, and Goggle Cat is put in danger, which Spiky Cat doesn't like. Siamese Cat kills Green Cat for stepping on his face while he was napping. Spiky Cat then realizes she’s in the wrong and confronts Siamese Cat, who gets pissed and attacks her. Goggle Cat is watching and Spiky Cat feels bad for bringing her into the gang. So Spiky Cat jumps on Goggle Cat and tells her to run, I guess, because she knows she's probably gonna die, and it's sad. Goggle Cat runs. Siamese Cat fights Spiky Cat, along with Poofy Cat and Purpley-Gray Cat, who apparently joined him for some reason (she thought Roach was Twigbranch, more oof), and he ends up killing her. She dramatically sinks into the sea. Goggle Cat goes back to Stripey Red Cat and vibes with him. Damn, these murdercat stories are wild”

Edit: For the non-believers, here's what happened. I texted her a link to this MAP and asked her to summarize what she gathered from it. She watched it twice in order to take it all in, then texted me back, word-for-word, the thing above here. I copy/pasted it, then just added the parentheses saying who all the cats are. There ya go. And yeah, this is the same friend I showed the We are Warriors MAP to. They feature different characters, so they wouldn't spoil each other. I'm thinking of showing her a DotC MAP next.

“I’ve fallen for a wicked trap and still you reach for me” is the best and most accurate line to summarize Needletail’s life. Full of mistakes and ultimately when she finally decided to chose to believe in this one thing, that one thing was one big huge slow moving plan to destroy the clans. And yet still her friends kept trying to save her and get through to her when really, no one would have blamed them if they gave up on her way before.
HOLLLLLLY. THIS IS SO SO GOOD. I literally teared up. Everyone did such an amazing job telling Needletail's story here and the visuals were OUTSTANDING. I love every second of this MAP. Great job everyone

I wish they kept Needletail around. She was a really interesting character, and I wish her big character arc is her at the end making it up to Violetshine by not dying. I felt like we needed more chilled back yet unresponsible characters like her.

She truly was my favorite character of that arc-
I watched this map, looked up Unravel, found out it was an anime song, watches Tokyo Ghoul, got obsessed with Tokyo Ghoul, finished Tokyo Ghoul, watched Tokyo Ghoul A, Tokyo Ghoul:re, and Tokyo Ghoul:re second season, finished the anime, read all of Tokyo Ghoul, and am on chapter 97 of the Tokyo Ghoul:re manga.

Okay this is officially my favorite MAP. Every part just flows together so well with the color pallette and the mood and just ahHHH it all works so well together! I think Needletail is one of the, if not the, most interesting characters the Warriors universe has brought us, and I am so pleased that there is such a beautiful MAP dedicated to her!

I'm doing a piece in college and I have been working on it for 4 months now and I'm about 3/4 done
but it hasn't been just me I have had a few friends help with the graphics aspect

Needletail has to be the one of the most inspiring cats there are in the Warriors series! Edit: Who else thought Darktail was a black and white Skeekwhisker?
I just finished Shattered Sky tonight and I gotta say, Needletail became one of my fav characters. This MAP is amazing and I watched it before I was even on Omen of the Stars, and I’m glad I can come back to it after I finished Needletail’s parts.
THIS TURNED OUT STUNNING OHH MY GODD IM SO THRILLED TO BE PART OF THIS MAP AHHH!! EVERYONE DID SO WONDERFUL AND IT ALL FLOWED SO NICELY IM I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!
Okay. I have decompressed enough to leave this MAP a comment it deserves. First off... again... Just... Wow! This MAP is absolutely stunning in all of its aspects. The edgy style works wonderfully with Needletail's story, and even in spite of the MAP's high velocity, it accurately and comprehensively tells Needletail's story while still driving the high stakes, tension, suspense, drama, grief, etc... into every one of its frames. The editing was also insanely incredible! (Honestly, this MAP has my favorite intro and title frame out of any MAP I've ever seen with the frames suddenly flashing to solid colors as the music suddenly intensifies, before zooming in past the cats and through the title to all the credits) Speaking of the music, this MAP's song fits it amazingly. Its's as if Needletail were venting out the lyrics. Something else about this map that was also amazing and unique was the altered color palettes for the characters involved. This is the first MAP I've ever seen do that, and it was amazing. The general emphasis on the warmer colors of the majority of the characters harmonized with the MAP's mood beautifully, and while I may be overthinking this, the altered colors serve as great symbols for Needletail's story. It was as if the palette switched out their physical book appearences, and their emotions instead. Needletail's gray pelt and red eyes as she struggles over whether it was right of her to abandon ShadowClan while her anger with Rowanstar and Darktail seeth relentlessly. Yet there is still good intention and kindness in her represented by the softer reddish pink of her eyes as she looks to Violetpaw as her friend/adopted kit. Darktail's yellow eyes peering out of the mask on his face glowing with malicious satisfaction. Twigpaw's darker pelt and blueish green eys reperesenting the grief and sadness both she and Violetpaw felt as they turned away from each other. Violetpaw, whose appearance is closest to her in book appearance representing had no real say or chance to feel what she wanted to feel in the face of the tragedy that was forced upon her as she is taken from her sister and left with no choice other than to watch the demise of everything she knew. Etc...
This MAP was stunning and breath-taking, and I believe it stands as a bit of a landmark MAP in our fandom! Thank you for making this masterpiece of a video! Thank you to all the amazing animators who put their time, effort, and energy into bringing it all together, and thank you for bearing with me if you've bothered to read this far! You are all inspirations that I and probably countless others want to take after!

For someone, like me, who does not know the stories or the warrior cats books, I can tell what happend with Needletail! I've seen a lot of warrior cats MAP's that are trying to tell the story of the characters, but this one is very clear in every way. I want to read the books because of this well told MAP! Good job everyone!

This is two years old and just seems to make me love this series even more than i already do due to the themes and life lessons it teaches. And needletails story was so amazing to me and to see it animated is even better! You all did such a amazing job as well at capturing the emotions of needle and violet!!! The part that got me was close your eyes and say goodbye before im history due to needletail knowing she would die but violet was safe. This was just over all one of the best Maps ive seen

I actually found this map before I read vision of shadows and I was very confused, but now that I have the context, this is one of my favorite maps.

Big tokyo ghoul fan right here. around the time when this was was posted i had recently gotten into warriors, and i saw this and immediately thought of tokyo ghoul, but i didnt think itd actually be the intro. and to my surprise, it was! this map has been and always will be one of my favorites. i love it.
Just read the first half of this series, I started late. Now I finally understand this map.

This is SO GOOD. Needletail is one of the best characters in the entire series and this map shows he story SO amazingly. I teared up especially when Violetpaw was running away from Needletail.
Oh my god, the song makes the visuals even better. I swear, I love this map, probably my favorite.
