G'day Belisle 👋🏻🐚 Well well, all of the recent rain is bringing the bonnets ashore!! I should have a few more to show you over the next week 😉 Thanks for watching 🥰
Thank you so much for showing the live animals you found! I absolutely loved seeing the Wandering Cowrie! I was unaware that their mantle reaches over their shell to continuously add new material! Loved his bubble butt too! 😂
G'day Crimson Lizard 👋🏻🐚 It was such a a coincidence that I ran into that live Wandering Cowrie just days after I mentioned the previous on to you...this is the first live one I've seen in well over a year!! Oh yes, that's how all cowries keep their shells so naturally glossy and shiny all the time; otherwise, their shells would have barnacles and other rough/damaged surfaces like so many other live shells. I have no idea about the bubbles in its shell though 😅 I hope someone can tell me what that was all about! Also, I wasn't sure whether or not to include the crab, but Mr Sheller watches my video too, and he say he liked the "creature features" 🤣 so I had to include it! Thank you so, so much for watching 🥰
@@SandCoffeeRocksThat crab was absolutely amazing to see. I've never seen a crab so lively and feisty like that. Getting to see living cowries just makes me feel so in awe of nature and it's beauty. It makes me really appreciate the beauty that these creatures leave behind for us to find and care for long after they are gone. Do you have a time of year where more species wash up than others? Like a cowrie season or a Moon snail season? Have you ever found a shell that you've kept but couldn't identify? I hope you have an excellent week and happy shelling! 🐚
@@CrimzonLizard I think a lot of crabs are pretty lively... I see a lot of them scuttle away from me and under rocks, at least! It was my first time seeing a Spider Crab though; I personally wouldn't have the courage to pick it up, my Mr Sheller has no problem with that! I typically find that more cowries wash up during the cooler months because that's when the octopuses get hungry. The octopi make those predator holes on the cowries (other predatory snails make predator holes on other snail shells, but the thick cowrie shells repel all but the octopi), and they eat more in winter time when they need more energy to stay warm. As for the best times to find other shells, I really couldn't tell you... except that storms are rain wash up a lot of interesting things during the summer time; bonnets are a given, but I have been surprised by the amount of cowries lately. Oh yes indeed, I have shells in my possession that I don't know the IDs for. Mostly microshells because there aren't a lot of good references for them. I just toss all of them into my big microshell jar and call it done ;D Although there is one cowrie that I bought but don't know what it is: it was just 40 cents from the Brisbane Shell Show last year, and it's a large sub adult cowrie from the Mauritia genus. I don't know which though; like microshells, the sub-adult cowries aren't well documented or easy to find references for. It looks great though; a big, wavy light grey cowrie shell. I think it's a sub adult Harlequin Cowrie. If I recall correctly, Mr Sheller was a bit interested in it when I got it; it looks unusual. Do you find yourself collecting any shells? Thank you Crimson, I hope you have a fantastic rest of your week as well, and an even better weekend!
@@SandCoffeeRocksI unfortunately don't live anywhere close to the ocean. I do however live close to a huge inland lake. I was devastated by that knowledge. I ended up becoming a rockhound instead lol. I had a massive collection of rocks I found pretty until it was too many and we put them outside in a rock garden. The mussels I have never been able to identify. They are oval in shape, the shell is anywhere from a darkish brown colour to a greenish brown colour with a white splotch on the top. 😂Hello Maddie, Your first boo boo I think. Tropical Periwinkle new, love Juvenile Arabian Cowrie, cute crab no pincers, Sputnik sea urchin soine. Love all above. Roberta's comment made me laugh. Be careful out there. Much Love, TRUDY
G'day Trudy 👋🏻💖 I have no idea how it happened; I cut back my nails nice and short that morning, filed them to smooth them over, and still managed crack the nail vertically in towards my finger? How?? At least it wasn't too bad, but blood (even from a coagulated cut) is a big no-no on a UA-cam video, so I had to cover it 😅 it was only a tiny booboo, thank goodness. I'm glad that you liked the Tropical Periwinkle; I think I've found one before but didn't know the name of it. The crab was pretty cool, it did have pincers but just little ones 🦀 I loved Roberta's comment too, she is always a delight 😁 much like yourself!! Thank you for watching, and stay safe as well 🥰
Maddie I just adore your humor. I love the leafy oysters. Wentletrap witch strikes again 😂. My favorite is the juvenile Arabian, then the Wentletrap. I think you found several wonder and beautiful seashells. That one shell that was stuck between a rock and a hard place 😂 was quite cute. You always make Shelly with you fun. I love to start my day with a cup of sand and coffee rocks. 😂 Thank you Maddie again for another awesome walk on the beach. Have a wonderful week ❤️
G'day Roberta 👋🏻💖 Aww, I thoroughly enjoyed your comment ❤️ I'm so glad that you liked the shells, and yes, there sure are plenty of Wentletraps around here! Ok, that reply wasn't very clever or punny; I liked yours way more 😅 I hope you've had a wonderful week as well, and a good weekend coming up! Thanks for watching 🥰

Hi Maddie, Yes a sundial shell, lovely! I didn’t know that grapes have teeth. I have some in the fridge, I will be careful 😂 That live cowrie was so cute but I think he was nervous hence the bottom bubbles 😂😂😂😂😂 Lovely collection and display. ❤
G'day Alison 👋🏻💖 Did you know that I can find larger species of Sundial shells here...but I just never have luck with them 😅 Haha yes, you gotta watch out for those Grapes and Cherries 🍒 they're all ready to give a chomp! I am jesting of course 😂 please don't take me seriously 😳 Thank you so much for watching, and for the seriously kind words too; those shell display are worth the time to set them up, but it's still gratifying to hear when someone thinks it looks good 🥰❤️💖🏖️🐚
Hiya Maddie! 👋 Love the live wandering cowrie, butt bubbles and all, 😅. Fav finds today are the sea urchin spine, operculum, mulberry drupe, and juvenile Arabian.
G'day Oceanluvn Gal 👋🏻🌊💖 I have no idea why it had butt bubbles 🤣 I guess the shell and the snail aren't as air tight as I though!! I'm really glad that you liked seeing this awesome live cowrie; it was a particularly lovely large one! Oh wow, the sea urchin spine was actually a favourite? I nearly didn't even show it, but I'm happy that I did! Same with that Mulberry Whelk; I usually overlook them 😅 I need to remind myself to focus on all of the shells, and not just the ones I like...I mean, I usually do, but there are a few things on the beach that I'm totally blind to 😂 the Operculum and juvenile Arabian were nice this time too 🤩 Thank you so, so much for watching 🥰
G'day Green Thumb Gardener 👋🏻☘️ I don't know about good eyes; I think I'm just single-mindedly absorbed with my task 🤣 I'm glad we shared the favourite; that Variegated Sundial was a cute one! Thanks for watching 🥰
Good’Day Maddie, love the limpet. I don’t know if I have ever seen that limpet. I saw a bird walk bye and would love if you would show any animals and birds that go bye. Great video as always!
G'day Jan 👋🏻💖 The Limpets are so varied with their colours, textures, and patterns here...plus I never really know the right names 🤣 so I might have picked one of these up before, but maybe did not identify it correctly?? Oh, that bird is a menace!! I was setting up the shells on a picnic table, and that bird kept jumping up onto the seat and trying to get onto the tabletop to peck at my shells! I mean, a lot of them try to do that; I just shoo them away and try to ignore them 😅 they're pretty much everywhere around here. I usually only show them if they're relevant, but I'll maybe try to work one into a future video is it comes up again 😉 This bird is called a Bush Turkey or a Scrub Turkey. They make a mess of the gardens and parks by scratching deer holes in the grass, or by flinging leaf litter everywhere. I digress 🤣 Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Amazing finds as always. All seems so exotic to me. Well done for leaving that o e behind (live barnacle in it), even though it’s one of your favourites.
G'day Belix 👋🏻🏖️ Hehe, these shells even seem exotic to me as well! Is that strange?? Ahh, I did toss that Spengler's Trumpet back into the water, though I suspect that it will wash up again with a live snail yo anchor it to the deeper parts of the sea. No matter, I have plenty already, and what will happen will happen 😅 Thanks for watching 🥰
Hi Maddie! Got to give my favorite today to the cute little grape. I just love anything purple and my second favorite today where the Perrywinkle I haven’t found one of those in Florida yet they said they’re pretty hard to find since they’re not really a water snail. They live where the water breaks in Floridaso thanks a lot Maddie I’m really busy I’m trying to catch up on your video. I will talk to you later my friend! TTFN 👋🏼 ❤️
G'day Mimi 👋🏻💖🏖️ Oh my goodness, the Grape Cowrie is the favourite today?? I nearly cut that one from the video because, hmmm, I was a little biased from all of the stunning Grapes that I've found over the last few months, and thought this one didn't have the same kind of nice blue colour on it 🤣 it's crazy how this kinds of mindset can become a bit of a trap for me! Oh wow, and the Periwinkle is a favourite too?? Was the favourite the Blue Periwinkle or the black Tropical Periwinkle? Anyhoo, you've reminded me that yes, the Periwinkles here also live around the where the water breaks on the rocks...there are thousands of live ones to see, but I've never shown them (I've always meant to, but then it slips my mind) I will have to make an effort to do that sometime in the future 😂🐌🐚 I hope you can look around the mangroves and water breaks to find one when you travel to Florida again 😁 Thank you so much for watching 🥰
I love your sense of humor😂, thanks for showing us the cool crab and live cowrie. I was hoping that you'd grab the mulberry welk, common but cute as can be.
G'day Denise 👋🏻❤️ The live cowrie is really lovely 😍 I was just talking to another commenter about a live Wandering Cowries a few days before this, and I was thinking that I hadn't seen one in over a year...then, suddenly, this one turned up! Really coincidental timing! The crab was cool, but it made me a little nervous; I think Mr Sheller was brave to pick it up like he did 🦀🤣 Hehe, I wasn't going to pick up the Mulberry Whelk originally, but it was starting me in the face and I knew it wanted to he shown too 😂 its a really common one, but cute like you say; but I prefer the rarer and almost the same but slightly nicer Grape Drupe - they're one of my favorite drupes to find from here! I haven't come across one of those in a long while, though... Maybe I'm sending my Grape Drupe vibes out into the universe when I saw this; but I hope I can show you one of them soon, too! Thanks for watching 🥰
G'day Maria 👋🏻🐚❤️ It was a lovely thick one...I wonder why some are like that, and others are paper thin? Oh now Maria, I don't think I saw any crushed Wentletrap this time?? There were a lot of pheasant shells, but most are intact 😉 a very might have chipped lips, but I leave those behind to one day turn into sand or whatever shells turn into 🤣 Thanks for watching 🥰
Hi Maddie,I thought u had an accident while do shelling ,I hope it doesn't give u pain when grabbing things on the beach, Sooo today I'm so happy seeing so many varieties, few of them are my dream shells, Still my 1st fav is the bladder moon snail from 02:15 (the color like milktea, cute) 2nd is the big operculum 3nd scally scallop (its red/dark orange color really caught my eyes) 4th flat sand snail 5th koro moon snail And my dream shells are from my fav no.2-4, i hope one day I can find them, Thankkk youuuuu for a great video Maddie ❤
G'day Nelly 👋🏻💖 Oh no, it's all good! I don't know how I cracked a nail when I cut them short and files them down earlier that day, but I still did it when I grabbed something from my bag while at the store 😂 It's all good now 😉 Oh wow, so many favourites this time!! I'm so, so glad that you liked the video this time; I thought it might have been too underwhelming compared to the exciting one from last time 😂 Oh, that Bladder Moon Snail: they are ALWAYS this colour from this beach 🏖️ They are very differently coloured in Hervey Bay because they live on mud flats there instead of the rock pools here at home. It's a pretty fun different, and yeah, it does look like milk tea 😍 The Operculum was also a great one today...can you believe that they can get a lot bigger too?? The Scaly Scallop and Flat Sand Snail both had lovely eye catching coloured! The Scaly Scallops also have an alternate name: the Livid Fan Scallop! Finally, the Koro Moon Snail!! Wow, this one almost never gets mentioned! It doesn't have an English name, so I made this one up for it. I don't know why no one ever named it 😅 poor guy! I hope you one day find shells like these too! I think you have a change of coming across some of them in Indonesia? Am I getting that right?? As always Nelly, thanks for watching 🥰

Yoshhh, the Mr. Koro actually really good and cute,he deserves more attention 😆 Yosshh again, some shells actually maybe from your place also, they came across the sea ⛵ to Indonesia, I always feel every shell must be experienced a great sea adventures
@@nellyjune9828It takes me a few days sometimes, but I always like to reply to the comments when I can 😁 I don't know why the Koro Moon Snail never got an English name... I really think that it was overlooked? So man of the other tiny microshells get English names, but this one doesn't, and even it's scientific name doesn't translate to a proper name.
@@SandCoffeeRocks I liked both Periwinkles!! 😉
@@SandCoffeeRocks ❤
That's the thickest brown lined paper, I'm surprised by all the crushed Wentletraps and pheasants! 😢
Hi Maddie,I thought u had an accident while do shelling ,I hope it doesn't give u pain when grabbing things on the beach,
Sooo today I'm so happy seeing so many varieties, few of them are my dream shells,
Still my 1st fav is the bladder moon snail from 02:15 (the color like milktea, cute)
2nd is the big operculum
3nd scally scallop (its red/dark orange color really caught my eyes)
4th flat sand snail
5th koro moon snail
And my dream shells are from my fav no.2-4, i hope one day I can find them,
Thankkk youuuuu for a great video Maddie ❤
It's a pretty fun different, and yeah, it does look like milk tea 😍
The Operculum was also a great one today...can you believe that they can get a lot bigger too??
The Scaly Scallop and Flat Sand Snail both had lovely eye catching coloured! The Scaly Scallops also have an alternate name: the Livid Fan Scallop!
Finally, the Koro Moon Snail!! Wow, this one almost never gets mentioned! It doesn't have an English name, so I made this one up for it. I don't know why no one ever named it 😅 poor guy!
I hope you one day find shells like these too! I think you have a change of coming across some of them in Indonesia? Am I getting that right?? As always Nelly, thanks for watching 🥰
@@SandCoffeeRocks ouhhh Maddie, your channel is my most fav than any other channels,
U always excited reply the comments, including me,a BIG thanks for youuu...
Yoshhh, the Mr. Koro actually really good and cute,he deserves more attention 😆
Yosshh again, some shells actually maybe from your place also, they came across the sea ⛵ to Indonesia, I always feel every shell must be experienced a great sea adventures
@@nellyjune9828It takes me a few days sometimes, but I always like to reply to the comments when I can 😁
I don't know why the Koro Moon Snail never got an English name... I really think that it was overlooked? So man of the other tiny microshells get English names, but this one doesn't, and even it's scientific name doesn't translate to a proper name.
I think Indonesia must share a lot of shell species with Australia because our countries are so close to each other. I think if I went to northern Queensland (I am in the south) then I would find a lot more shells like what you find. I need to check out your Instagram page more - I like the Olive Shells that you find there!
@@SandCoffeeRocks poor mr.koro,but I really like him🤩
Yeah,i think the same
Thts also the reason I always wait for your videos, and use your videos to identify my shells
The olive shells?
I got a big one from my last shelling 🐚
I like that juvenile arabian! I wonder how big it would have become had it survived to adulthood.
G'day Reet 👋🏻💖 Hmmm, good question! It's hard to know when that Arabian hadn't started to grow its test yet...maybe just a little bigger, I'd say? It would have been a good size for the species, in any case 🤔 Thanks for watching 🥰
